..... and managed to get an offer?
Hideous interview today. Grilled on a topic she hasn't even covered in her A level course and based purely on a 7 page academic article she only got half an hour before the interview.
She is so down about it all.

Supermanspants that sounds like a great plan re escaping to the wilds. I could do with a week of that myself! It is such an intense process and as you say, many outstanding candidates don't get offers because there simply aren't enough places.

But your DD sounds amazing and deserving of an offer given everything she's been through. I will keep everything crossed for her next week.

Thanks so much for starting this thread-as I said, my DD had an 'awful' first interview and the responses on here helped me keep it in perspective for her. It turned out well for her and I truly hope your DD gets similarly good news next week.

His first interview went so badly that he called me at the end of day one asking I drive back and pick him up. I refused and told him to do better at number two and learn something from it all. He was convinced he didn't get in. Amazing the discrepancy between his he felt that night and today.

Rezolution123 · 08/01/2016 20:33

Superbaghag Same here. DD was so down after her first interview but got an offer from her second college. So pleased for all successful DCs on this thread. I still can't believe it.

AppleSnow · 10/01/2016 15:46

Does anyone know how Cambridge applicants hear the results of their interviews? Is it by email or letter? Thanks.

abc112 · 10/01/2016 17:24

It depends on the college .The Student Room have a thread on 'Cambridge decisions' thread listing how each college notifies its applicants.
DS has gone through the whole gamut of emotions now and is indifferent now. Also enough people from his school have been rejected from Oxford that he won't feel any shame in not getting in.How I am feeling-well, that's a different matter.
i am not going to post again until we know, so best of luck to everyone's DC and See you on the other side!

Supermanspants · 10/01/2016 18:44

Apple
Your DC should have received a follow up after interview specifying how candidates receive their decision.

Thank you! Good luck to everyone's DC.

Expatmomma · 12/01/2016 04:42

Today is the day! Good luck to all MNetters and their children who are waiting for news today.

Supermanspants · 12/01/2016 06:12

The waiting is utterly hideous and still hours to go. I think I actually feel sick.

I feel your pain super!

Due to exams all day today and being overseas DSS will probably not access his emails until this evening. Heh ho!

He had 1 good and 1 disastourous interview but is very laid back and happy to attend a top Uni here. He only decided to apply in September so thankfully Cambridge is not the be all and end all for him.

Good luck to your dd.

pickledonion2 · 12/01/2016 07:11

Good luck everyone for today. I woke up dreaming about it. Ds won't talk about it when I tried to mention it the other day. He is convinced he won't get an offer. He may text me to let me know if it is good news...or he might not. Suspect I may have to wait until he gets in about 5 to find out. I will be a nervous wreck at work all day!

pickledonion2 · 12/01/2016 07:45

Ahhh. I'm driving myself mad already! Anyone know what time emails go out? Thank goodness I've got a quiet day at work today!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/01/2016 08:09

Good luck to all of you. I will never forget the day my son was due to hear about his Oxford application. I was at work (mistake, should have booked annual leave as it was a very quiet day, almost nobody else in, and I could scarcely concentrate on anything else). My husband was at home and so was my son. In the middle of the day husband sent me an email that went a bit like this:

Hi, I think I've managed to get that stain out of your grey top. Will know better when it's dry. X* got AAA offer. Will go out to get milk soon. Is there anything else we need?

I missed the crucial sentence on first scanning this - it was five minutes before the penny dropped! Pah. Grin

*X is not his initial.

Molio · 12/01/2016 08:25

I'm going to add my good luck too to the Cambridge people. I think the e-mails are sent on the early side - they've had long enough sitting on the decisions.... All the best.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 12/01/2016 08:47

DD2 gets her results by letter (unless she's been pooled to a college who email), so she's about to be taking up position on the stairs by the front door waiting for the postman, while constantly refreshing her email, just in case. At this point, we all just want to know one way or the other, as the stress has been horrific.

Good luck to everyone waiting to hear Flowers

mummymeister · 12/01/2016 08:48

sitting here watching the in box every 5 minutes. last time the e mails for the interviews went out at 5pm. hope they don't make us wait all day or I will have demolished all the left over Christmas chocolates and crisps by then and be the size of a house.

anyone got an e mail yet then????

horsemadmom · 12/01/2016 08:48

Good luck, Cantab hopefuls!!!!!!

mummymeister · 12/01/2016 09:59

emails are now out. doing them early morning.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 12/01/2016 10:38

post arrived as I was dropping her off to school - rejection Sad. But a poster on The Student Room was pointing out that by getting as far as interview, they'd already proved they were bright enough, anything after that was a bonus.

Oh well, one more uni to hear from, which might actually be better than Cambridge in the long term anyway.

mummymeister · 12/01/2016 10:44

MyVisions which one are you waiting to hear from? Not Bath by any chance?

Molio · 12/01/2016 10:49

Sorry to hear that Visions. I hope your DD is ok.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 12/01/2016 10:53

She was 99.9% convinced this was going to happen, so seems quite calm about it all thankfully.

mummymeister - not Bath (although DD1 went there and loved it) - Birmingham for MSci. They told her before Christmas they were going to wait till after the 15th to make any decisions, plus there's the possibility of an interview.

pickledonion2 · 12/01/2016 12:04

Argh... have given in and texted ds to see if he has heard....I'm thinking the fact he hasn't text me is bad news....

pickledonion2 · 12/01/2016 12:05

myvisions glad your dd is taking it ok. Good luck with the last offer.

pickledonion2 · 12/01/2016 12:06

Have other fold heard yet?
