Mine is also home! She is having a quiet night in after a hectic week of end of term parties. The first thing she wanted to do was have a bath - only showers in her accommodation.

Fairenuff · 12/12/2015 22:30

Dd is home too. Brought all her washing. Definitely appreciating the comforts of home and not having to live on a budget! We've been shopping for a few presents and watched lots of tv together. Bliss.

hellsbells99 · 13/12/2015 08:05

Glad you have all got your DCs home safely. DD text last night to say her flat were having their 'Xmas meal' and lots of wine. She is on the wind down now and will either be home latish Friday or on Saturday.

My son has lectures and assignements up until Wednesday and is then staying on for another week to revise for his early Jan exams (and hang out with any mates still in Glasgow)

circular · 13/12/2015 19:19

Glad to hear many DC's safely back, and safe journey for those still to travel.

DD fnished kectures Wednesday, home yesterday, seems glad to be back.
Only had a weeks worth of 'normal' clothes washing, but I got her to bring home linens and a colkection of hoodies too, so we ended up with 6 or 7 loads! Finished this morning lol.
Quiet night in last night, out with friends this afternoon / evening.
Don't think she's done any Xmas shopping, so suspect that will be on the agenda next week. Has 2 or 3 assignments and revision for a couple of exams too.
Only gets 3 weeks off at her Uni, think she's regretting committing to quite a few work shifts, but hasn't worked in term time.

I am finding it odd adjusting to my returned daughter's increasing grown-upness. On one level she is much as she ever was, but there's been a shift too. There's a photograph of her at a formal dinner taken last term- which she's shown me and now part of me wants to show it to everyone while shouting 'LOOK! Look at my Grownup Daughter!!'

GypsyFl0ss · 14/12/2015 09:20

Grin Marianne. It's been such a steep learning curve for them...I'm both delighted and amazed at how well Dd has coped.

I'm now going to collect her a day early, which is also my birthday. I'm very excited!

seimum · 14/12/2015 19:45

DS home today, looking like an extra from a spaghetti western (but he is getting a haircut and shave tomorrow). I haven't investigated the laundry situation yet Xmas Smile
He's not home that long - going back 2nd Jan as he has exams starting on the 4th

Quietlygoingmad67 · 15/12/2015 01:34

My dd home Sunday night - only brought back her dirty xmas bedding for washing!! (She did a load the day before coming home) She is home for 5 weeks with no january exams and so far no reading for next terms modules! She is picking up a couple of shifts at work and seeing a couple of college friends. I feel so much happier having her home but forgot how messy she is - glasses/plates left wherever!! Hope everyone enjoys having their DC home for xmas xx

PUGaLUGS · 15/12/2015 17:04

DS is home! Picked him up from the station at 2.15om, quick shopping trip for anew hoody and a pair of Vans and then straight to the hairdressers. Out for fish and chips tonight. No dirty washing, he did it all before he left .

Nice to read all of your stories of the DC coming home.

Same here Hmm

Carriemac · 18/12/2015 06:41

I he resolved not to hag about the mess in DSs room if he keeps family space tidy. Part of treating him like a grown up ( also means he did his own 6 loads of washing!)
So lovely to have him home , he is being so nice to everyone

Fairenuff · 18/12/2015 08:09

My dd is the opposite, she is cleaning the house from top to bottom whilst I am out at work. She's also picking up extra shifts at work, revising and meeting up with friends. She said she thought she was coming home for a rest but is busier than ever.

However, next week we will have lots of time to relax, watch movies and potter about getting the last of the presents wrapped. Oh, and I'm paying her for the cleaning so she'll have extra money to take back with her.

Haffdonga · 18/12/2015 11:29

Argggghhhh.

I made a tentative agreement with ds that I would go and pick him up today (2 hours away) except he's not answering his bloody phone. I need to get there and back by 5.30pm for an appointment (in Friday rush hour traffic). Do I drive to his uni town on the off chance that he's awake, packed and ready to jump in the car or not on the equally likely chance that he's made other plans.

The only reason I was soft enough to agree to pick him up in the first place was that a) he's been quite ill and b) he has some heavy stuff to bring back. Otherwise I'd be happy to let him extend his overdraft on a train ticket.

Horsemad · 18/12/2015 18:21

What did you end up doing Haffdonga?

My DS is home tomorrow, woohoo! Grin Grin Can't wait to see him

GypsyFl0ss · 18/12/2015 19:05

DD is home Grin

Haffdonga · 18/12/2015 20:29

So I ended up texting and ringing ds about 30 times - no reply. Eventually sent a final text saying sorry, it's too late, you'll have to get the train. Of course, half an hour later he finally wakes up and managed to sweet talk me into jumping in the car and bombing down the motorway to pick up his oh so heavy bags. Hmm

I'm far too soft but I'm just delighted to have him home. Grin

And now he's already out with mates

NiceCardigan · 18/12/2015 21:25

DS is home with a suitcase of dirty washing and looking very tired. He's grown while he's been away.

Horsemad · 18/12/2015 23:43

Ha ha, it's a 'Mum' thing, Haff!! Wink

Decorhate · 19/12/2015 08:12

It's definitely business as usual here. Dd out with friends last night who have stayed over. Very noisy when they came in, makeup all over the bathroom

Cooroo · 19/12/2015 12:13

Went to DD's uni town on Thursday. Picked up her and luggage, then we ate out and went to the pub where she and a friend sing in an open mic night. Good atmosphere and nice people! Then night in a hotel and home yesterday. She thinks she has cystitis so went to Dr - and they can't see her because she's now registered at uni! So she took herself to A&E and they sorted her.

Then she went out for evening and I haven't seen her since!

GypsyFl0ss · 19/12/2015 14:19

Cooroo her old Gp can see her, they need to book her as a temporary resident. You can be seen under that status for up to one month I think. They won't have access to old records as she will have been deducted from their caselaod but they should deal with any immediate problems, so ok for an infection but not for a pill repeat for example.

Horsemad · 19/12/2015 18:27

DS is home, Merry Christmas Everyone! Xmas Smile

Cooroo · 19/12/2015 19:12

Thanks Gypsy - she says the A&E people told her the same! Very odd. Hopefully no more illness. Next term doesn't start till the 18th! Can that be right?
