First thread was started by Trisagion on Wed 30-Oct-13 15:18:17

"
This is to ask for the help of all Mumsnet members, most especially anyone who lives in the Haute Savoie departement.

One of our members, Carol Sheridan, is missing. She is a keen and intrepid hiker and explores the high mountains of the area. She is experienced and resourceful but neither her family nor many friends have had any communication with her since Saturday 27 October.

She may be lost or perhaps had an accident and be awaiting rescue.

She is 73, five foot five tall and drives a black Fiat Panda registration AZ522AP

If you have any information on Carol's whereabouts or the location of her car please contact French Police and her daughter Fiona Conyers [note from MNHQ, we've now removed the email address to respect the family's wish for privacy]

HQ are hoping to post the MISSING poster circulated by her family on here."

Still praying for Carol. Please God let her be found safe and well.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 04/11/2013 10:55

Yes very frustrating. I think patience is the best way we can help her family now.

DameDeepRedBetty · 04/11/2013 10:57

At least with a car there's something to work on.

Hope she's found soon, even if it's bad news in the end, it's still better to know.

SevenOnwardsAndUpwards · 04/11/2013 10:58

I've been following this thread but not posting. Really hope she's found safe and well soon.

ChippingInLovesAGoodBang · 04/11/2013 10:58

OMG. Did it say when they found it?

It is sunny & warmish here - I wish I could bottle it and send it to Mieussy.

ZingWantsCake · 04/11/2013 10:59

dame

the car being Carol's has not been confirmed yet

not telling you off, just reiterating.
hopefully it is. we don't actually know it yet.

Fingers crossed tightly that it is her car, one step closer.

ZingWantsCake · 04/11/2013 11:01

Honeyball on Gransnet seems to be the one who first posted about the car on Gransnet at 09:54:54 this morning

I have a good feeling. This is an intelligent, resourceful and tough woman and an experienced hiker. Just looked at Mieussy on Google maps and the whole area is criss crossed with streams so lots of water sources.

Don't give up hope.

ZingWantsCake · 04/11/2013 11:04

one of the French articles were released at 10.39 this morning - so 9.39 am in the UK

Marking spot for news and hoping for the best.

ZingWantsCake · 04/11/2013 11:08

blue

last night my cup of hope was getting empty.
now it is filled to the brim again.

people have been found alive at sea weeks after a plane crash or ship wreck!
she is on land and sounds to be a tough old bird (sorry, not being disrespectful!) there's every chance she will be ok!

sending good vibes to search parties and praying fir weather to improve so helicopter search can begin.

also pc is back on so I checked

if you click on Active, next to "I'm on" it is the top thread!

if you check on "Most Active", next to DOD you are right, that shows the actual most recently active - but DOD is the one that shows by default (on my pc anyway) so that's a very good combination I think.

DOD has been changed to "car found" - maybe premature?

magimedi · 04/11/2013 11:15

Carol would be (& I think has been ) the first to call herself "a tough old bird".

ChippingInLovesAGoodBang · 04/11/2013 11:19

I have just read the post about the 'walk' Shock she did from Jourdy - bloody hell. She's one game woman!! Much much admiration for her ability to live life & really go for it.

ZingWantsCake · 04/11/2013 11:20

magi ah, good!

to me that is a positive phrase, but didn't want to offend anyone!

come on Carol, help is on the way

I so want to hear now that the car is being confirmed to be hers!
in fact, in a way because it is not confirmed I'm more and more thinking it is hers....

the first info about the car was quickly withdrawn - I bet it is, but police thinking what was said and don't want journos/anyone just curious to get in the way..

it's gotta be her car. it's gotta be!

OP posts:
ChippingInLovesAGoodBang · 04/11/2013 11:21

Magi - yes, she's certainly 'a tough old bird & no frail old lady'!!

ZingWantsCake · 04/11/2013 11:22

glass

thanks, was going to do it next Thanks

Chipping that's a good thing then isn't it, to know what she is capable of?

DameDeepRedBetty · 04/11/2013 11:24

Blush sorry Zing, must have skim-read too quickly - need more tea!

Keeping everything crossed.

ChippingInLovesAGoodBang · 04/11/2013 11:30

Yes Zing it is. A very good thing. x

ZingWantsCake · 04/11/2013 11:30

no worries dame I think a fair few hundred people jumped out of their seats when seeing the words car and found earlier today!

it's wanting and hoping it to be true our brain says it's true!
