CoupleofKooks · 21/06/2010 08:45

General healthy eating and exercise thread with aim of losing weight / shaping up. Aim to eat 10 portions of fruit and veg a day, and do more exercise. No bizarre diets please. Weigh in day is Monday (you don't have to weigh in but we will punish you by with-holding stickers). Diet coke will be frowned upon.

sorry did that sound rude about the sale? i just meant it is so popular and so big, i just go to pieces

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 29/07/2010 13:50

He he, no it didn't sound rude. It's bloody chaos isn't it? It's the biggest grossing sale in the UK dont'cha know.

The first time I went to a Sale I walked in and then out again. IMO no bargain was worth elbowing through the crowds. However I now volunteer at ours so I get to shop before the hoards.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 29/07/2010 19:30

banana
mint penguin
2 ryvita with low fat cream cheese, cherry toms, cucumber, olives.
coconut
3 aprictos
nectarine
veg curry and mushroom rice
another mint penguin

About 8 portions I reckon. Plus lots of walking and even more biting my tongue at ds's behaviour today. It has been APALLING.

He was with his Granny and Grandad this afternoon and was perfectly delightful for them, but then turned into a tired and cross whirlwind when he got home. Lucky me!

ponceydog · 29/07/2010 20:11

shreddies and o juice
strawb yoghurt
home made jumbo choc cupcake
banana
chicken with tomatoes and spinach and potatoes
home made jumbo choc cupcake

only 3! That is rubbish. But the cakes were very tasty.

I'll have an apple later

CoupleofKooks · 29/07/2010 21:03

I've never been to a Nearly New Sale but it sounds like the only way to bother is to volunteer! Good on you Lemur.

I try to not spend much on our dc birthday presents, and I plan ahead and have a couple of nice bits then DH butts in at the last minute and says we have to get more, more, MORE!!!!

About the friend. She just said last night, over a wine, very lightly, 'yeah you're PSW and 's ' (other friend told us about a thread she started and namechanges all the time anyway) So that name I haven't even used for about a year. But if she knew it before when I was using it, I think she should've told me. I discovered a friend who I had recommmended MN to so I said 'I think I saw you on MN. Were you on thread? I know your name.' Then she had the opportunity to change it/namechange for certain things/not discuss certain things. But my friend never mentioned until now. And I said 'how do you know' and she didn't say.

I guess she probably went on MN here while she was babysitting and I wouldn't have logged out cause she doesn't go on MN. She a babycentre/netmummer. (We were having the vulva/twinkle/foo foo conversation, incidentally, which is why MN came up )

Anywho. Just a bit miffed. But I know it's a public forum. Blah de blah.

Now. Shall I make DH a birthday cake now? For tomorrow.

CoupleofKooks · 30/07/2010 07:54

i think it was a bit late for cake making, pink, but happy birthday mr pink

i know it's a public forum but there are ways to behave
what she did is like going through your handbag because you left it in the pub while you were in the toilet
"but it's a public place"

whatagradeA · 30/07/2010 11:26

I didn't make the cake in the end! Had a lovely breakfast with a few slices of banana each as a nod towards fruit with croissants, scotch pancakes, chocolate spread, golden syrup and pain au chocolate.

We'll stick a candle in a sandwich or something later and sing Happy Birthday!

I'm off to Devon tomorrow night so might be a bit scarce for the week.

That birthday breakfast sounds delish. Enjoy your holiday, grade!

CoupleofKooks · 30/07/2010 21:48

happy holidays to the pinks and greys

avi i do us a packed lunch about 3 times a week
i hate making them, i am usually doing it at 10 pm at night stomping round the kitchen
we almost always have the same thing
i do get lunch from m+s or tea and cakes from cafe once a week as a treat
another thing that i could easily cut down on but don't want to cut down on

i just did the week's shopping and it was a lot better - £82 inc delivery
dp spent £4 on fruit yesterday but it's overall better

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 31/07/2010 14:39

been at work and came home ravenous
chocolate eclairs have been eaten, also copious amounts of rice

OP posts:
ponceydog · 31/07/2010 18:14

huzzah to chocolate eclairs!

Last night I ate doritos as a snack. Ffs. I did alright apart from that aberration.

Today:

croissant, fruit juice, kiwi
2 cheeseburgers (we had to go to McDs. No choice. Computer shopping nightmare)
banana
pasta with loads of roasted courgette, aubergine, peppers, onion, tomatoes coming up
home made meringues with strawbs coming up

so that will be 6-7

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 31/07/2010 18:50

blueberry pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. It was bloody lovely though.
banana
3 apricots
2 nectarines
mint penguin
Leek tart with french beans tossed in parmesan, cucumber, toms and radishes.

Probably about 7 portions and mucho walking around tile showrooms.

A feeble excuse for exercise I know, but good Lord I am tiled out. I can't choose one I like for the hallway floor because I want wood so none of the tiles are going to be what I want. Cue dh and I getting huffy with each other whilst ds ran amok around the showrooms pulling the displays down, treading on loose piles of tiles and then biting and splitting his lip

We're off out to the cinema tonight. I think it's only about the 4th time we've been out together since ds was born.

CoupleofKooks · 31/07/2010 22:17

at home made meringues
and LOL at tiled out

i have had a very tired day eating crap really
such a vicious circle but there you go
i am hibernating this weekend in hopes of feeling less knackered on monday
dp co-operating, mostly

OP posts:
pointydog · 01/08/2010 20:02

I've had my crap moments too, fran.

2 plain pancakes
rasp grape cherry juice
banana
bratwurst in a roll and lots of onions
some chips
couple of mouthfuls of crepe (lemon, choc, maple syrup) nobbled from other people
baked beans on toast
4 slices of cantaloupe
plain pancake

5-6, depending what all that melon is worth.

CoupleofKooks · 01/08/2010 20:47

whoa i am going to have put weight on tomorrow without a doubt
been slouching and eating
have half lost my voice, that will be fun for work tomorrow!

i have somehow not put on, but i haven't lost for about 3 weeks i think

avi 10st 13 +1 total loss 3lb
franny lost zero, total 12 lb

avi that is a frightening feeling but has anyone told you that it's likely to be that way? what have they said to you
i know you've been resting (and i can see why) - my friend with a bad back says she has to take whatever pain killers she needs to feel comfortable because the most important thing is to keep moving and NOT rest it - have you had any advice about that?

Hello - camping was lovely, wild rolling marsh and hardly anyone on the beach which is amazing in the summer holidays. I know a lot of people don't want to walk for an hour over muddy marsh to get there but it's beautiful when you do, lots of warm creeks and shell banks.

And yes, we 'gathered seaweed'. We all love samphire.

Our van is the scruffiest on the site. Everyone seems to have posh VWs or smart outwell tents there these days. DD made a friend and she said, when I first saw your van I thought you were gypsies, lol, then she said because inside it looks so homely and I laughed as she had really paused between the two things and it sounded funny.

Avi - my ost always says rest but don't sit still for too long which I always think sounds weird. I take it to mean don't do hard work like digging and carrying but keep moving and walk a lot. Sorry your back is still hurting.

Franny - I have not had a chocolate eclair for years and I sort of fancy one now. I don't really like cream cakes, filling it with cream seems a waste of calories to me when its the cake part I like. I like cream on some things, like hot choc but I prefer butter on a scone or yoghurt with strawberries.

Anyway we are going camping again somewhere else on wednesday, waxham prob. I am enjoying being outside. This one couldn't be closer to the sea, the tents camp beind the dunes so its the opposite. More loud and druggie crowd though but you can avoid it, sort of.

Have eaten dreadful things like pie and bread and beer and things like cinnamon grahams but walking so much has helped a gain.

Sorry, rambling post. Going to make eggy bread.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/08/2010 13:16

You're selling Waxham with the tales of loud and druggie crowds Guad

What sort of van have you got? My friends have just sold their Bongo, it was a sad day for them.

Sorry to hear about your back Avi, back pain is miserable.

I think I have probably put some weight on. My clothes are still loose but the flab on my stomach feels bigger. It's my own fault. I've been idle and slipped back into bad habits.

CoupleofKooks · 02/08/2010 17:24

lemur you and me both
i still weigh the same but i have definitely reflabbed
i kept catching sight of myself in shop windows and thinking "ooh dear"

guad i feel the same about cream cake
tbh i just like that chocolatey bit on top of the eclairs
the cream and to some extent the pastry are an irrelevant nuisance

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 02/08/2010 18:51

Yes, yes, so WHY do we EAT the cream part? I leave a lot of it tbh but still, I don't feel there is a need for cream. It almost makes me gag.

Though I know there is more amount of fat per wotsit in the mascarpone in a tiramisu but that doesn't make me gag.

Lemur - Waxham is tricky for me. I love it, the place, the landscape, camping virtually on the waves but what I really love is Waxham of 15 years ago when it was a fairly quiet site with maybe a bit of a party and a burning effigy on a saturday night. Sadly word spreads and it has become a bit of a skanky ravey druggie pace at times and I stopped going 5 years ago but is improving with new owners and there is a large crowd of friends that I have given instructions to leave a gap for me to insert myself in so I will see how it goes.

I am tired.

Summer makes me tired.

But it is nearly autumn. And I will have had a nice summer, and more importantly dcs will have had a nice summer. Yes.

My house stinks of seaweed.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/08/2010 18:58

It's been a long summer hasn't it? Seemingly endless.

There are a few signs that Autumn is on its way I think. There's a chill in the air in the early mornings and in the evenings, even when it has been a hot day.

I love cream cakes

banana
2 ryvita with low fat cream cheese, olives, toms, cucumber.
3 cheese biscuits
grapes
meatballs and pasta in tom sauce (with mucho toms, onion, olives and mushrooms)

Guadalupe · 02/08/2010 19:15

Look at us feeling parped at the very beginning of school break!

Is it colder in the morning and evening? I hadn't noticed that. Well, camping was cold but it always is at night. I have about fifteen blankets blankets in a tent but in the van normal amount of covers.

I was the coldest I have ever been in a tipi in cornwall when ds2 was six months old. It did not endear me to tipis I must say. I was rigid in every bit of clothing I own inside a sleeping bag as the rain dripped little drops on my nose from somewhere above. Horrible.
I have had salmon and samphire for dinner. Strawberries and chocolate too.
