The lay-out on here has gone weird for me today - same for anyone else?

Anyway, yes I remember the bat house - its great! We also have bats in the garden too.

BB - sorry your counts have not been good. I hope they recover this week. We certainly can't just carry as normal in this lark, IMO! I had chemo on Friday and am still taking things easy today - just a short walk though I might do another now as its a lovely evening.

Cakes - the research sounds interesting. Good on you for neing involved. Oh sorry it might be KK - its such a long scroll up with the layout problem you'll have to forgive me!

A local cancer buddy dropped in today - her hair was looking v short but great. She, like me; didn't like wearing wigs either. I rrecognise completely that wig-screaming scenario! I prefer little caps and scarves and have only been out in my wig once and felt self conscious in it.

SR - try customise at the top of the page (under mumsnet talk), you should be able to change it

KurriKurri · 26/04/2010 21:26

ignore me - its some sort of general tech. problem

Hi everyone,
Haven't been on for ages but thanks to everyone who wished me well with the rads. I am a quarter of the way through already!

MAS and SR - you have both had good news since I posted last - that's great!!

BB, Pennies, KK and RWU - I know you are all having a tough time on chemo just now. I'm sending positive vibes.... Pennies, when I read your posts it catapulted me back into how I was feeling during chemo. I thought it would never end but it did and in the last week or so I finally feel as if all that bloody poison has left my body. Hang on in there ladies!

Loved the gardening chat Pennies. I made it to my allotment today and it wasn't as bad as I had feared (not having been there for ages). Have broad beans, potatoes, peas, shallots and asparagus coming through at the plot with chillis, tomatoes, squash, cucmbers, sweetcorn and lots of little brassica plants coming on in the greenhouse. Need to sow carrots, beetroot and fennel soon and start off french beans and courgettes. Hope I can get it done before the tiredness hits. BTW - re rads - is it normal to have a hot boob?? (Hot as in red hot as opposed to sexy hot!!!) Also - can't remember who rec the Chillow but it is great - am using it on head and boob.

Cakesandale · 27/04/2010 09:31

Hi all!

Haggis - your garden sounds like a market garden, how lovely, all those veg! We used to have a large veg garden (at the end of our normal garden) but it got too much for us and so is now turfed over with just a few fruit trees. I am so envious of your industriousness.

Ref the hot boob - yes, quite normal, and it can go on for quite a long time after as well, so keep applying the aqueous (?) cream aa it does help, and the chillow could turn out to be a godsend too. (I must get one)

KK - I think I might try that BC book, thanks for the tip.

back to the grindstone today again - but am feeling more positive as my recent VERY quiet spell may just have ended. (Thank heavens - and I mean that very literally, I decided to be very post-BC and not get stressed, and leave it to a higher power to sort out. Sorry if that sounds wierdy-beardy, but it's true).

Love to all. Esp RWU as i am getting a bit concerned about her uncharacteristic quietness. If you are lurking - hope you are doing well xx

KurriKurri · 27/04/2010 11:58

Hello all, Just wanted to echo what Cakes said -hope you are alright RWU, and the last lot of chemo hasn't knocked you about too much. Lots of love and good thoughts xx

Lovely to see you Haggis - your allotment sounds great and must keep you very busy! I've only got a few veg. growing - as the garden isn't really big enough for a patch. But DH claims he's going to build a sort of raised bed for them, so am looking forward to that. Meanwhile, I've got carrots, radishes etc. growing in tubs!

Thanks also for your good wishes. I've finished chemo, and am now coming towards the end of a year of herceptin. Its really not too bad in general, but because its building up now, I'm having a few days of feeling grotty after it. But I feel a lot better today.
So pleased you are starting to feel more like yourself after your chemo. And getting through the rads. (it is very normal for skin to feel very hot, rather like sunburn) I'm glad the chillow is helping.

I'm off for a free massage at the Big 'C' centre this afternoon. (I realised the other day that this is a local thing here in Norfolk, so probably no one has any idea what I'm talking about when I mention it) its for all cancer patients, and is attached to the hospital. A lovely light airy building where you can go and relax. It offers all sorts off complementary therapies,a library, and medical talks/advice sessions etc. run by doc/nurses/dieticians etc.

Anyway you get 4 free massages, - I've had mine, but last week they offered me an extra one - I must have looked as if I needed it. So am hoping to feel very relaxed by this evening.

Love to all, enjoy the nice day. You have the right attitude Cakes, no point worrying about what you can't change.

Cakesandale · 27/04/2010 12:28

Big C centre sounds great! Enjoy the extra massage - am totally

need to finish some words of wisdom and then dash out and get DH a present - birthday tomorrow and NO idea what to get. AAAARGH!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/04/2010 13:39

hello haggis and lovely to see you back..allotment sounds wonderful..DH does all our gardening here - last year we grew potatoes in big tubs as well as tomatoes and some cucumbers or courgettes- can't remember which !

Phew! Got him a camcorder. We found one lying around when we were at Cotswold Wildlife Park a few weeks ago and he said he'd like one: it's the only thing he has mentioned all year! (Obviously he couldn't have the one we found, that got handed in - shame really, I think it was posher than the one I've bought [tightwad emoticon})

Plan B on the telly! Yay!

sandripples · 27/04/2010 16:01

Inspired by all the gardening chat on here, I have sown 5 trays of seeds this morning - courgettes, French beans, herbs and marigolds! A local chap who lives in a farm we can see from our kitchen does garden projects and he's going to prune our trees this year and make a raised bed for me. So I've asked him to come mid-May and then my seedlings might be ready to plant out.

Have just been on a tour of Dunham massey winter garden - its fairly new garden in a local NT property - very nice.

I also hope RWU is OK - looking forward yo your update RWU!

Good wishes to all.

MaryAnnSingleton · 27/04/2010 17:14

And well done on the gardening SR, - I do like hearing about other people's gardens - gives me ideas for mine!

Massage was great - I feel very chilled out and I got a cup of tea and a bourbon afterwards

reallywoundup · 27/04/2010 23:12

Bugger! I just wrote a big long post and then my iPod died through lack of electricity can't be qrsed to type it all out again, but I am alive, a touch sore still from the gallbladder removal (that was explained in aforementioned long post!!) and a bit yuk from chemo, but the happy pills have started to bring me out of the black mood and I am hoping to resume normal frequent posting very soon
thinking of you all x

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/04/2010 07:23
