hello all.
had a homemade chicken and bacon pie tonight.
not very good with the diet i know. but i keep telling myself that im not on a diet, im just eating more healthily and so its ok.

I have loads of baking planned withe the dc's over the half term so i hope that a week of pigging out on all the lovely cakes and cookies and warm bread will make me not want any more for a good while

iggi999 · 13/02/2010 22:36

Have been dancing in living room so that must earn me some brownie points?
Off to bed early for once. Have a goodnight, y'all.

DreamsInBinary · 13/02/2010 22:38

Evening everyone

I can just about breathe again after today's match (we won, in case you missed it ). Am a bit at DH - he got to watch it with mates, so I had to listen to the last twenty minutes on the car radio (in between verses of Puff The Magic Dragon) whilst driving to pick him up.

We too used to get dragged out every weekend on Forestry Trails. Symmons Yat mostly. My Dad utterly refuses to recognise bad weather.

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 13/02/2010 22:53

evening DIB. We won our match too, so i am happy... until march 1st... will have to see after that. Did you enjoy the game?

I am so glad my folks didnt discover the walking thing until after we were big enough to be left behind. but then again with my knees couldnt have done it anyway. My folks speciality was the pointless drive in the countryside with the random picnic... not too bad.

Got plans for blue planet end of this week and really looking forward to it.

wastingaway · 13/02/2010 22:58

Blue Planet DEM? On DVD?

That Genie is ace, got every one we tried!

I have had garlic crumb-coated chicken with lemon butter new potatoes, cooked by DH, followed by rose flavoured cupcakes, baked by me and champagne.

We are now watching Dark Knight. Again.

YanknCock · 13/02/2010 23:02

My parents hiked into the Grand Canyon with me when I was 9 months old. I've been to all 50 U.S. states, most of them were camping holidays and involved national parks where dad would make us go walking/hiking/biking. This makes me question why I'm not in better shape

I've sobered up, pumped my boob juice for the night, so turning in now.

Tomorrow there's a promotion at Total Fitness where we can go free, so going to take DS swimming and maybe get a chance to get on an eliptical thingy for the first time in ages. Wish we could afford a gym membership.

Night all.

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 13/02/2010 23:04

nope blue planet aquarium on the wirral (?) near cheshire oaks shopping center. A tad expesnive but a nice day out and ds loves it. Especially the huge viewing window. not been in over a year so will probably go round it a good few times. then can decided what else to do, depending on weather. have option for beach of drive into wales. could go look at snowdon if we fancied.
What genie wasting?

wastingaway · 13/02/2010 23:08

This genie

That sounds like an awesome plan DEM. I've still not been to The Deep, and it's less than an hour on the train to Hull, so we really should go.

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 13/02/2010 23:20

that is freaky. didnt even give completely correct answers and it still got it.

VinegarTits · 13/02/2010 23:44

FiveGoMadInDorset · 14/02/2010 08:30

Good morning.

The sun is shining and all is right with the world, but it is still early so it can all go horribly wrong.

DC's are fed, they had pain au chocolat which I didn't pick on, we ar ehaving bacon sandwiches which will last us until roast chicken later on.

jetcat · 14/02/2010 08:47

morning all

will try the genie today, i have heard a few people talking about it.

DEM, i didn't mean for you to do all the travelling - if you can hang on till the easter hols, i should be more mobile, and can perhaps meet half way??

And yay for shiney - a teessider Although technically i am not from tesside, more durham, but have lived here for a few years now (a town beginning with H)

jetcat · 14/02/2010 08:48

if we did meet up half way, would that be too far for you still Yank?

and mamazon - chicken and bacon pie

wastingaway · 14/02/2010 09:48

Morning!

That's weird Vinny, I tried with Philip Schofield and got Jeremy Kyle. I guess I don't know enough about Philip Schofield.

Lizzylou · 14/02/2010 09:53

Morning, literally drowning in romanticness (is that a word? It's just romance, innit?) here.
NOT.
Ah well, have nice cards and a coffee in bed, now I am off to put the washing away.

My life is like Jane Seymours in that old perfume ad (the actress, not ex-wife of Henry xviii), just floating around swishing my hair, looking ethereal and slightly hot.

MyCatIsABastard · 14/02/2010 10:20

Good Morning. I weighed and have lost another lb. Not great but still a loss, so that's 5lb now. I got some sleep last night and feel a lot better today.

DH got me some roses and pretty pink and white chrysanthemums. He very awkwardly yesterday so... 'er, I have to er... do we er need anything from the shop er... oh thats right, we need some milk don't we ..er... be back in a bit'. And off he went in the queue with all the other last minute blokes! Still, he did it and I'm happy and we'v enot got enough milk for the rest of the week

I'll just have a quick thread catch up then I'm off cooking dinner for everyone today.

MyCatIsABastard · 14/02/2010 10:33

Fanny - yes my birthday is Wed's. Yours is Friday isn't it? If I recall correctly we are reaching the same rather momentous age.

Goober I not only fed myself a KFC on Friday, but also DH, DD & DS (who is only 1yr old!). DD also had fruit shoot. Shall I get my coat?

Yank I think the ability to type whilst pissed is pretty impressive. I usullray tpey ikle tsit wn posseddddd

Alice my DD is the supreme goddess of public tantrums. She has a v piercing voice too. Like you I usually ignore the looks but sometimes I could just bloody clock someone for being so sodding know it all and looking at you like you've stabbed your child or something!

We had the walking in all weather trips every weekend too. And I was almost always car sick so my memories are of being cold and feeling sick every weekend! I fully intend to do the same to my two, tis character building!

Suppose I'd better go put some potatoes on to cook and all that malarky. Roast pork, roast spuds, roast butternut squash with herbs and onions, yorkshire puds and broccoli for lunch. YUMMMY!

See you later and have a Happy Valentines Day.

VinegarTits · 14/02/2010 10:52

i had an awful nights sleep, had an embarrassing case of itchyvagyitis

anyone have a recipe for chocolate brownies? i might have a go at this baking lark with ds2 today

MyCatIsABastard · 14/02/2010 10:57

vinny - hope you wash your hands before baking . Sorry don't have a recipe for brownies, but I can do you a quick sponge recipe if you like:

3 eggs
6oz sugar
6oz butter/marg
6oz self raising flower

Mix it all together into a creamy mix, pop in baking tin, gas mark 5 for about 30 mins (or until it has risen and you can touch the top and it feels relatively firm and the cake is a golden brown colour)

Let cool, cover in icing sugar and sprinkles. If you do 2 you can put butter icing in the middle and have a really yummy victoria sponge cake!

TrillianAstra · 14/02/2010 11:35

There as a recipe for brownies in the Times yesterday - specifically for baking with children.

I won't comment on the well-known cure for itchyvagitis.

4oz chocolate
2 large eggs
5oz butter
10z oz caster sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
2oz SR flour
1oz plain flour
2 tbsp cocoa
4oz walnuts or pecans (probably optional - could use more chocolate)

Heat oven to 180C, line square cake tin.
Melt chocolate.
Mix butter/sugar/vanilla until fluffy, add eggs, mix some more, sift in flour, mix, add melted chocolate, stir some more.
Chop up nuts, mix into cake mixture, put into tin, bake for 35 mins.
They're done when they're a bit crusty on top.

It reckons you could have fun stenciling designs on top with icing sugar, if yu were so inclined.

VinegarTits · 14/02/2010 11:50

thanks trill, i just realised i dont have any scales to weight anything
