I am watching Come Dine with me on Channel 4+1, there is a woman from this town on (made local papers) and it is all local people, well 20 miles radius.

I love CDWM, we could do a Shiney thread one!

Bella would win, or would Fanny? Shiney would give us all QF, Syc (may we never forget the wonderful Syc), would do her mushroomy leeks with Total 0% and blueberries.
Ooh, and Sazz would get her DH to do a "foam" which I am very of. Vinny would give us Port until we couln't find the table.

It'd be epic, we should do it!

Lizzylou · 06/02/2010 18:04

Yay, good score in the rugby, I am just pleased if we beat the Welsh, had years of anti-english chants at Aber, now have it via FB if I could find out how to work the new one......how do you get "live feed"????

OOH, on CDWM, the bloke is in a house I have coveted forever.......how did he get that? Mind you, it's not as nice inside as I had envisaged......

TrillianAstra · 06/02/2010 18:08

I wouldn't win on cooking but would get you all very nicely smashed And you would be impressed with the moody musicy light show that my tv does.

TrillianAstra · 06/02/2010 18:09

Wait, I have a much better idea!!!!! It should be a competitive CDWM between threads! We could go up against the 10/10ers and the FLYladies and the Slatterns and the wankers(is that really what they're called?) and the, I don't know, was there a Scuttle thing? Or that circle of life thingy?

Alicetheinvisible · 06/02/2010 18:18

I have only one thing to say to you all.....

Hot cross buns with belgian chocolate chunks in - AMAZING

I am definitely up for a CDWM, but my house is an unfinished mess

Lizzylou · 06/02/2010 18:26

Trills, we'd just be pleased to be in a Childfree zone, we'd eat crisps and drink cocktails and be happy to stay over with no early waking DC.

YES, we should do a challenge to other threads! Good thinking, Trills.

Lizzylou · 06/02/2010 18:28

Actually, Mitts may win, because we all just want a go on her spacehopper
Or DEM, she made a cake that was the earth, I mean, come on, makes a mockery of my Halloumi and roasted veg starter

Alicetheinvisible · 06/02/2010 18:30

I would cheat and get DH to to the cooking, unless of course you were all happy with lasagne

Lizzylou · 06/02/2010 18:35

Alice, we would all just go gooey over your bump, I know I would!
Girl from Rossendale is one now and she is serving one of my fave dishes...........
The shop she's in (Channel 4+1) is fab, 5mins away from our house, v expensive but lovey food, where we get our meat from.

I am a bit starstruck!

TrillianAstra · 06/02/2010 18:44

We spent a fiver on a not-very-big bit of cheese at the farm shop today. If I were on CDWM I would just have to go to lots of posh local shops for poncey cheeses and things. Do you think these people usually shop in the lovely local shops or do you think they normally go to Tesco/Morrisons?

There was one where the man got everything from Netto and was really proud of how little he's spent.

Alicetheinvisible · 06/02/2010 18:49

I think they get given £120 or around that to spend on the evening, which sounds a lot until you take into consideration alcohol and posh ingredients.

Alicetheinvisible · 06/02/2010 18:51

So if we did it as a group, who would be in charge of canapes, starters, main, pudding, alcohol etc?

MitsubishiWarrioress · 06/02/2010 18:56

sorry for popping in and out....

I have had chilli and minted peas . quick to prepare as I am painting..

Do you think I should go out? I could paint for a couple of hours, walk down, meet friends and get a lift back...they don't come back til midnight.

Love the idea of competitive CDWM...not sure what i could contribute tho!

And the sound of Chocolate chunked Hot cross buns anything spicey and fruity gets a vote from me.

Alicetheinvisible · 06/02/2010 19:00

Mitts - i think you could do decoration and invites (you being a real life artist, plus genius use of astroturf )

I could do the waitressing, and make a chocolate bomb for pudding.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 06/02/2010 19:04

Oh yes....I could astro turf the table and have little live frogs hopping about.....

Alicetheinvisible · 06/02/2010 19:06

That would be cool

Alicetheinvisible · 06/02/2010 19:08

Dinner tonight is ......

Newmarket sausages
Saute potatoes
Slow roasted tomato goo
Brocoli

bellavita · 06/02/2010 19:14

DH is finally doing their tea. I know he is stressed in the kitchen - I have coome into the room and shut the door. I am not a lover of fahjitas (sp) so am having a ham and pickle sandwich.

I adore CDWM.

bellavita · 06/02/2010 19:18

Oh blimey, the smoke alarm is going off now....

VinegarTits · 06/02/2010 19:26

CDWM? yes i would ply you all with so much alcohol that you would forget how bad the food was and score me 10 for entertainment value

i have a gin and tonic, ds2 insisted on drinking his water out of the same style of glass, so will have to make sure we dont get them mixed up

Mitts you should go out

BitOfFun · 06/02/2010 19:31

Oh, I couldn't possibly have you lot rifling through my knocker drawer- the very thought!

TrillianAstra · 06/02/2010 19:33

BoF would probably have the best knicker drawer...

Just put together something that will hopefully be a bit like potatoes dauphinoise. Eventually. It'll take forever, won't it?

Also put flapjacks in th oven for taking to the all-night adventure that will be Superbowl.

G&T sounds like a good idea Vinny.

hellsbelles · 06/02/2010 19:34

I need to lie down in a darkened room. With slaves to fan me and bring me wine. Despite having huge amounts of help from DM and DMIL I am still knackered from DS's party. I flapped about, very red faced - but conversely achieving very little.

I think it was a big hit (we did go-karting...because DS missed his party last year so it was an extra special treat). They all seemed to enjoy it....but feeding time??!!!! It was carnage. 29 excited kids....ughhhhhh.

And, I know this is very bad to say....but OMG...girls?!? DS has a best friend who is a girl and I sort of assumed all the other girls would be like her. Oh how wrong I was. We spent huge amounts of time placating crying girls....crying because 'x said this' 'y knocked me' 'z is mean','I lost my hair toggle', 'I can't find my whatever' blah blah blah. I really really don't want DD to grow up like that. Pain in the fecking arse.

Boys are so bloody straight forward.

BitOfFun · 06/02/2010 19:36

Oh you can get some whiney boys too- mostly adults, I grant you...

TrillianAstra · 06/02/2010 19:36

Hi hells well done for surviving.

Nest year it'll be 3 chosen friends doing a quiet activity will it?
