Gorgeous cake, bella!

Yay for Flamingo- happy birthday

Erm, you know all that whinging I was doing yesterday about somebody getting a thread deleted? She evidently didn't, as I have just noticed it again here. I am rather stupid sometimes. Still, she seems to have abandoned it all the same.

bellavita · 31/01/2010 14:51

The roses on either corner are actually done in a gold lustre, unfortunately the camera does not show it very well. I thought I might do the writing on the main cake in a gold colour. I could get some gold lustre dust (the roses are sprayed) and paint it on the scrolly bits on the cake.

Afternoon all.

Happy Birthday Flamingo - have a lovely relaxing day.

I braved ikea this morning with the 3 dc's to get the wooden slats for ds2's bed as they didn't have them when i bought the bed.

Dashed round mothercare and boots and then home where i did roast chicken and a butternut squash salad for lunch. Was ok but roast potatoes would have been a lot nicer.

Am so tired though - children up very very early and of course bea woke many times in the night.

Right, off to do more ironing. Am I the only person who does at least 2 loads of washing every single day?

Foundation wise - I love chanel vitalumiere but it is expensive. Also think the l'oreal professional primer is very good.

The cake is really beautiful Bella.... when you say trial..has it actually got cake inside it that now needs eating? [hopeful emoticon]

Happy Birthday Flam...

I got some aquaban as I seem to be due on 50% of the time and have the consistency of a half filled water bed!

I love getting older as far as my body is concerned really though. I just feel 'right' in it. It's silly but DS is really proud of me and that matters more than anything.

I always wear foundation/powder as I colour up really easily and it makes me self conscious, and anything more depending on how I feel. Sometimes the works and sometimes just added lippy.

I have never had expensive stuff because if I was going shopping and had money to spend on my self, it goes on clothes. Whether it is 2nd hand trawling or the occasional treat from All Saints

FiveGoMadInDorset · 31/01/2010 16:01

Bella - that cake is georgeous.

Mitts, can we see a pic of your astroturfed bathroom?

bellavita · 31/01/2010 16:34

Mitts, yes there is a 7" fruit cake inside ... DH has promised any trial cakes to his workmates

My friend has been down and said it is perfect just what she wanted - I knew she didn't want anything fussy. Phew >

Did I see you wrote that you astroturfed your bathroom Mitts?

MitsubishiWarrioress · 31/01/2010 16:45

Ummm..I will try and put a pic on the FB site Flam as I have not set up my profile yet....

MitsubishiWarrioress · 31/01/2010 16:46

Ummmmmm...yes Bella .. well, it is practical, hard wearing and errrr very green!

NormaSknockers · 31/01/2010 17:00

bellavita · 31/01/2010 17:00

MitsubishiWarrioress · 31/01/2010 17:17

My astro turfed bathroom is now on FB...

Alicetheinvisible · 31/01/2010 17:21

Great cake Bella!

Happy Birthday Flamingo!

I have got a jam and fresh cream donut to eat once DD is in bed. It was reduced to 15p so i had to have it

Talking of caked on make up, i had a bodyshop party ages ago and the woman did my make up. I was brown and shimmery with lots of green eyeshadow, may have looked ok in a (very) dark club but in my living room just looked strange. There is youngish bloke that is sometimes on the Benefit counter in JL and he really seems to know his stuff.

Oh, and i am 12weeks pg today (yay)

NormaSknockers · 31/01/2010 17:24

15p - well it would have been rude not to have bought it Alice

Congrats on reaching 12 weeks too!

Alicetheinvisible · 31/01/2010 17:28

Thanks scan on friday, but got to see the cardiologist tomorrow which is rubbish and probably a complete waste of a day.

I do like a bargain. Got a fab belt in Dorothy Perkins on Friday reduced from £10 to 50p!!!!!!! That is my sister's birthday present sorted

FiveGoMadInDorset · 31/01/2010 17:35

Congrats on the 12 weeks Alice.

Mitts - I love it. We have a very cold shower room downstairs and very tempted to do that in there.

TrillianAstra · 31/01/2010 17:37

Congrats on your 12 weeks Alice, adn that is a beautiful cake Bella. I've made some coffee and walnut cake (not iced yet) but it's not fit to share a table with your creations

Alicetheinvisible · 31/01/2010 17:43

Mmmmmmm......did i ever mention that i like cake?

I have got a lovely carrot cake recipe i am dying to try out, but still not really up to proper cooking.

YanknCock · 31/01/2010 18:08

Yay for 12 weeks Alice, and yay for your cake Bella, it looks fab!

LOL at the idea of me in 'Sex and the City'---following the face off on 42nd street, I left the friend's flat we were staying in (by way of the clinique counter) and checked into a super cheap hostel (only thing I could afford), complete with mentally ill guy who would scream 'GET OUT OF THE FUCKING BATHROOM!!!' over and over again at 5:30 every morning. Wasn't my finest hour, but it was memorable.

Lizzylou · 31/01/2010 18:13

Evening all, after ranting (turns out it was PMT, thought that was next week ) and getting very upset at the selfishness of the males in my household........they took me and my dodgy left bum cheek to Bakewell for the day.
Where they ate chips (I had 3! Just 3...) and we shared a Bakewell pudding and walked lots in the crisp winter sunshine.
Bum aches a bit now after being in the car but was a lovely journey and lovely to get out of the house.
I bet I must have come close to Mitts and DEM when I was on the A6?

So, all good now, sorry for moaning.

Bella your cake looks fab, clever thing

Alice, enjoy your cake and fab news on reaching 12 weeks.

Norma, you sound like a lovely sister, which doesn't surprise me one bit....

bellavita · 31/01/2010 18:51

Fab turf Mitts!

Aww Lizzy, it does you good though to get it off your chest. It sounds like you had a lovely day. Well done on your 3 chips. I love Bakewell tarts. Is a pudding the same?

Alice - congratulations on your 12 weeks and enjoy that cream donut.

Trills, I love coffee but not coffee sweets or cake but I am sure yours will look lovely.

I posted a message on Squeezy's facebook saying we are missing her. Has she gone on holiday?

Had roast pork with new pots, carrots, broccoli, green beans and apple sauce for tea and it was rather delish. I had two small potatoes. The crackling looked divine too but the boys ate it.

Lizzylou · 31/01/2010 19:24

Bella, I was miffed at first because Bakewell puddings don't have icing on the top , but it was lovely, the slmond spongey bit was very moist and the jam was homemade and lovely, it was gorgeous.
We very nearly went back to get more to bring home but went to the park instead!

My sciatica seems much better, I feel much better. It's lovey when it's bright outside, even if it's cold, I just hate the grey dank misty bleurgh weather.
