Welcome to our 36th healthy eating thread, where we will renew any healthy eating resolutions with all the viguor that the Christmas munchies require...

We chat, keep each other on track, and monitor our goals together- some on the thread have lost shed loads of weight, some are running ridiculous distances. Some, of course (like myself and Shiney, our dubious leader) have been a bit, er, remiss really. But that can all change with a New Year!

Come and introduce yourself, old and new, and let's get Mumsnet's famous Shiney Healthy Eating Thread kicked off for 2010...

PhaseolusLunatus · 04/01/2010 18:38

Why, not at all, Mamazon!

And thanks, Shiney!

I'm newish - used to be nearlybeans, but changed to PhaseolusNativitatus for Christmas. I might be Lunatus, or Vulgaris, depending on my mood

Right - I'm ravenous now, so off to have some turkey broth and try very hard not to have a glass or three of wine to help it down.

traceybath · 04/01/2010 18:41

Dinner sounds yummy and healthy mamazon as long as you're not slathering potaotes in butter (which I'd be tempted to do).

Hello phase - am new to this thread myself but may know you from S&B where I mostly post.

Right off to cajole ds's into bed and make sure everything laid out on radiators for school tomorrow.

Do you all do that as well? DH thinks I mollycoddle the dc's as I make sure their clothes are all warm and toasty for when they get dressed in the morning.

bellavita · 04/01/2010 18:53

I have had a small glass of wine.

Enjoyed my tea and the sprouts!

Hello phase and welcome to our mad thread.

TrillianAstra · 04/01/2010 18:56

Hi all, couldn't come on at work today, did I miss much? Off to read through. Bike lock frozen again so had to walk in, but lovely DP came and picked me up this evening

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/01/2010 18:59

Evening all

Sorry I am still on shock, my lovely new year all went tits up when my brother and his girlfriend brough a friend of hers who was really rude and agressive, started picking on another guest and then tried to hit his wife. I am so angry about it that only just getting over it. No apologies or nothing and just my brother saying that it had nothing to do with them and the other guest was the one that started it which he didn't. Fucking last time I invite them.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/01/2010 19:01

So on NYD me and a friend the girl who nearly got hit, a lovely MN'er, decided to abandon DH's with 6 children between them and buggered off and had a very self indulgent 4 course lunch in a nearby hotel. Twas lovely and then did a rerun of NYE without the agro.

Mamazon · 04/01/2010 19:02

Tracey - i do the warm uniform thing for the DC's too.
not to mollycoddle them but it encourages them to dress quickly before the clothes go cold.

Mamazon · 04/01/2010 19:03

five - what a nightamre! glad you made up for it on NYD

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/01/2010 19:03

So I saw the original NYE in in a field of sheep and a lovely big moon.

bellavita · 04/01/2010 19:04

Oh blimey Fanny, that sounds horrendous - poor you

Hiya Trills, why could you get on mn at work?

TrillianAstra · 04/01/2010 19:05

Wrist warmers, er, don't really fancy them. Can't you link us what they look like? I'm imagining 80s sweat bands TBH.

Had a really lovely (and cheap) jumper recommended to me on S&B but it's out of stock.

Oh, and I weighed this morning and was only 2 1/2 lbs over my pre-festive-season low, so not too much to worry about here.

Fanny that sounds rubbish, hope they buggered off sharpish and let you have a calm weekend.

Mamazon you shouldn't be thinking of 'diet food' you should just have nice healthy things that are real food. Spag bol with lean mince and not too much oil in the cooking is perfect

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/01/2010 19:06

Well done Trills. Got my WW weigh in on Wednesday and dreading it.

IggiBurns · 04/01/2010 19:24

Paul McKenna's programme is on Living TV at 8 o'clock if anyone fancies spot of self-hypnosis.
He makes me feel rather less full of self-loathing re.body than usual, I'm a big fan!
Though I did squeeze myself into a size 16 dress today, so it's not all bad!
Sorry for your rotten night Fanny.
And I hope Alice that you are being well looked after.

Mamazon · 04/01/2010 19:25

check me out.

just given teh kids some chocolate gatuex as a bit of a treat before bath time. there was one slice left so i binned it and then put the leftovers on the top so i wouldn't be tempted to do a gerri halliwell.

i am so proud of myself.

LollipopViolet · 04/01/2010 19:39

Swell done mamazon, that's great! I had a nice pie with some mash and carrots. Couldn't eat it all, was scared my stomach would mess up again

MitsubishiWarrioress · 04/01/2010 19:41

I have wrist warmers Shiney... some M and S ones and some lambswool ones that I got for Christmas. They are fab.

Fanny, that is crap. Especially as you work so hard to entertain.

Whoever said this was like a coffee shop is dead right. It really sums it up for me too. Just like my favourite one which is a cafe/bar and has sofas and chunky furniture and they bring your drinks to you.

Hi phase!

I would take a peek at the BJ thread Mamazon, but I had to ban myself. I provide an ironing service, but it doesn't stop my mind from wandering depending on whose ironing I am doing

Dinner was a gammon steak, peas and a tiny spoon of mash. Christmas pud and custard.

Chaos..I am trying to write too....or rather collate what I have written so far. How is it going for you?

I will be kick boxing tomorrow for first time in a couple of weeks and I am really looking forward to it.

Off to play Mummy

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/01/2010 19:43

supper is lamb noisettes, new potatoes and green beans and water.

Going to sort out freezer tomorrow and write down everything that is in there and live frugally for the next month.

traceybath · 04/01/2010 19:46

Five - I'd have been so furious with your guest but well done on sneaking off for lovely lunch.

Mamazon - very virtuous with the leftover cake. Mum's 2 dinners has often been my downfall.

Lizzylou · 04/01/2010 19:49

Hello and welcome, Phase I have very "sturdy" thighs also, always have had.

Yay Mamazon! What willpower.

Fanny, she sounds horrendous, what a complete cow to be like that in your home where she is a guest, ditch em all. If I came to your home (Massive hint! It looks so amazing and your cooking sounds divine and I'll bet it is not swathed in artic conditions) I would never be so rude

Trills, well done on your not massive gain

Bella, sorry, have nothing nice to say about sprouts but well done on the portion control!

DS2 had a complete meltdown this evening, but I think I handled it rather well, he is knackered after first day back at preschool/CM's and all the extra walking due to the snow and so am I!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/01/2010 19:51

It was -7 this morning driving to nursery .

hellsbelles · 04/01/2010 19:53

Fanny that is completely crap....I'm glad you managed to escape the next day. I cannot believe your brother didn't have the decency to apologise. Is he usually a bit rubbish?

Iggi - I think I've got his cd's somewhere. Unsurprisingly pristine and in their cases. I must dig them out and actually listen! I think it was one of those language courses that did a survey and discovered that a huge amount of direct learning courses go onto bookshelves never to be opened. It was something like 80% for courses costing hundreds, sometimes thousands of pounds. And I'm a prime offender of buying stuff and then not using it.

Supper was steak again - south beach surprise mash (the wonderful surprise being it's mushed up cauliflower rather than yummy potato. Tasted o.k.) and green beans.

About to eat more nuts . I'm missing most the evening ritual and wind down from having a glass of wine. Only 10 more days to go!

Welcome everyone new (sorry so behind my brain can't remember all the names)

hellsbelles · 04/01/2010 19:54

Yes Trills very at your tiny christmas gain!!
