Welcome to our 36th healthy eating thread, where we will renew any healthy eating resolutions with all the viguor that the Christmas munchies require...

We chat, keep each other on track, and monitor our goals together- some on the thread have lost shed loads of weight, some are running ridiculous distances. Some, of course (like myself and Shiney, our dubious leader) have been a bit, er, remiss really. But that can all change with a New Year!

Come and introduce yourself, old and new, and let's get Mumsnet's famous Shiney Healthy Eating Thread kicked off for 2010...

Evening ladies

Happy New Year to everyone! Hope you all had a good one?

I haven't caught up yet so will have a scan and see what you've all been up to. Behaving I hope?!

Any gossip? Did I miss anything exciting?

Have had a really great Xmas and New Year but am glad it's all over......too much food, too much booze......it's taking its toll.

Do we have resolutions? Mine is to better my grammar, eat healthy and hopefully get pregnant (which would take in stopping smoking and drinking).

Right, am off to catch up!

TrillianAstra · 03/01/2010 17:17

Squeezy are you TTC now too? Congratulations!

Damn, I'll be the only one left...

Gossip, er, well have you heard about Shiney adn the plumber and the bird man? This one likes owls, not penguins.

YanknCock · 03/01/2010 17:28

Yes, if you've done the maths, you'll discover I was most certainly 'with child' on my wedding day!

The real story is, we'd got engaged in April 2008 (as soon as my divorce was final), planned to marry the following summer. Then my brother's wedding got cancelled due to him falling off a ladder and nearly killing himself, and it was going to be rescheduled for summer 2009. So we were already looking at moving ours, and in August 2008 I got pregnant (after a year of TTC). We scheduled the wedding for January (I would have been 5 months pregnant), but had a miscarriage in September. Decided to keep the date in January anyway, and lo and behold, I found out I was pregnant again less that three weeks before the wedding! Happy days

MitsubishiWarrioress · 03/01/2010 17:31

Yank...that is tough for you especially with a little one at this time of year.

I have been sledging and we have a path in the village that is somewhat 'luge-like' and I actually managed to pin two people up against a wall as I swooshed around a corner before screeching to a halt just before I reached the road . It was awesome!

And home for soup and sausage sandwiches.

TrillianAstra · 03/01/2010 17:32

I didn't have the maths, is your DS really that old? I thought he was born Oct/Nov (= not pregnant for wedding).

AT least I was right in knowing that there couldn't have been time to have a deliberate wedding-with-baby.

YanknCock · 03/01/2010 17:41

He was a late August baby, and little for his age (under the 9th centile), so I suppose I could get away with pretending he was premature! (I was asked all the time if he was premature for the first 2-3 months)

SqueezinAroundTheXmasTree · 03/01/2010 17:43

Aw yank! Can sympathise with you over the leak, hope you manage to get it fixed soon and have a happy anniversary regardless, what a lovely time of year to have gotten married

Trills, yes TTC, have been on and off for a while but smear test stuff keeps getting in the way. Going for another appointment on Thurs and hopefully that will clear the way for 3 months of serious shagging! I need to find out proper stuff about ovulation etc but am far too scared of the intensity of the TTC threads

The bird man........oh yes, was he the one with the small pecker? Or do we not know that yet?

TrillianAstra · 03/01/2010 17:51

Wow Yank, time flies huh?

TTC threads are all very very weird, don't go there! Stay here with us where it's safe...

YanknCock · 03/01/2010 17:51

thanks Squeezy, I don't think it's anything compared to what you were dealing with! On the TTC front, try www.fertilityfriend.com for doing charts and lots of info on figuring out when you ovulate. The TTC boards can be a bit full on, I had to cut myself off them cold turkey as I was getting obsessed and dangerously near the term 'babydancing'.

Georgimama · 03/01/2010 17:53

If you've got a normal length cycle (ie regular at 28 to 30 days) then just do it every other day from the end of your period to about day 21 of your cycle and eventually you will catch ovulation. Repeat until successful.

If you're like me, things are somewhat more complex.

TrillianAstra · 03/01/2010 18:03

How about 'have sex every other day when you're not on your period'? given that you're unlikely to be ovulating and menstruating at the same time?

(Mr Squeezy is gonna love us!)

SqueezinAroundTheXmasTree · 03/01/2010 18:03

Thanks for the link yank!

A long time ago, I had a dabble in the TTC threads and felt the draw, reading everyones highs and lows, symptoms, counting days, etc etc. Had to break it off before it took hold, this thread is rehab....and although the ladies over there are very nice and friendly, I can't risk being drawn in This thread is the free version of that posh place all the celebs go to conquer their demons.....the Priory, that's the one!

You can SO tell I've not been on MN for a while, I will try to stop talking jive soon

Mitts - it is fantastic to read that you are feeling great! You go lady!

Georgimama · 03/01/2010 18:06

That would be a bit keen for me, TA. I've been married for quite some time.

traceybath · 03/01/2010 18:12

Yank - what a nightmare. Your baby is similar age to my dd - she was end of july.

TTC sex is so dull ime. Took nearly 2 years to get pregnant with ds2 and god by then - well it had got just a little formulaic.

Am tired and grumpy tonight - think will go to bed shortly after dcs.

SloppySecondsIsBest · 03/01/2010 18:15

Birdman would have a skinny pecker, I'm sure. YY to just regular sex, don't over-think it. Any planning that involves examining mucus is doomed to failure IMO.

Georgimama · 03/01/2010 18:16

I sympathise traceybath, was a bit like that for us at the end, the repeated disappointment starts to take the joy out of it (did for me anyway).

So we've had fly, relationships and TTC so far on this thread. It's MN in minature! Anyone willing to risk an AIBU?

SloppySecondsIsBest · 03/01/2010 18:19

AIBU to change my name today to wind up Reality's stalker? Ans should it be Is or Are?

SqueezinAroundTheXmasTree · 03/01/2010 18:24

I need a new year name.....

I confessed to my friend that I am on MN after she asked me where I got my SS bracelet and ceramic cupcake, well I didn't say actual MN per se....I said it was a website full of lovely ladies and that we had sent small gifts at Christmas....she thought that was amazing but I made her promise not to tell anyone or mention it, heehee!

TrillianAstra · 03/01/2010 18:25

YANBU at all, especiall if it helps me to find the stalker...

MyCatIsABiggerBastardThanYours · 03/01/2010 18:25

Evening all. I have just had mince and spuds, which sounds nasty but was rather lovely in a winter warmer kind of way.

DS in bed, DD due to go at 7, thank GOD it's all back to normal tomorrow and DD's got nursery. If she wasn't 4 I'd think she had PMT.

TTC sex was the last bloody time I had regular sex! Wish I'd taken longer to conceive now. Yank - hope it all goes well. I always feel funny about congratulating people when they're pregnant, it's a bit like saying 'well done for having a good shag' .

Mitsubishi - I am very impressed. I am very that others have snow. I love the stuff and am desperate to go sledging. DD had a tantrum today because we didn't have enough ice for her to skate on when we were out for a walk (but she also had a tantrum about us not having beans, the buses not running on Sunday and her boots being pink! - Been a lovely day ).

TrillianAstra · 03/01/2010 18:26

Are...

SloppySecondsIsBest · 03/01/2010 18:28

Thanks, I think you're right.

SqueezinAroundTheXmasTree · 03/01/2010 18:29

Realitys stalker? Bloody hell!

Hiya georgie, tracey and sloppy If you're namechangers, gimme a nudge as it is so hard to keep up and I'm not the sharpest tool in the box

SloppySecondsAreBest · 03/01/2010 18:32

Yes- there was a whole thread about it, but I guess it got pulled. Shall I link to another one so you can see what I mean?

SqueezinAroundTheXmasTree · 03/01/2010 18:33

Oh yes please if you don't mind
