Welcome to our 36th healthy eating thread, where we will renew any healthy eating resolutions with all the viguor that the Christmas munchies require...

We chat, keep each other on track, and monitor our goals together- some on the thread have lost shed loads of weight, some are running ridiculous distances. Some, of course (like myself and Shiney, our dubious leader) have been a bit, er, remiss really. But that can all change with a New Year!

Come and introduce yourself, old and new, and let's get Mumsnet's famous Shiney Healthy Eating Thread kicked off for 2010...

Hello.

Am in a bitch of a foul mood today. AF has arrived which probably explains the horrible headaches the last couple of days. Everything and anything is annoying me ggggrrrrrrrr.

Guess what I had for breakfast..... 0% yog and strawbs again. Going to have a tuna jacket potato and salad for lunch. Home made soup for tea.

Mitts it is nice to see you smiling

Your fur bolero sounds divine Georgi.

What about a game of cards Chaos? Cannot remember how old your ds is?

Right ladies - quick poll. Where do you buy your jeans from and what kind do you wear ie. hipster, straight leg, bootleg etc etc. I need a new pair (the pair I have on are really old now from River Island, have never really fit well and have decided don't actually suit me).

Answers on a postcard please..

traceybath · 03/01/2010 12:04

Bella - I really rate TopShop for jeans.

I wear marthas - straight leg and baxters - skinny.

I do also have 7 for all mankind roxannes which are skinnys.

But I am short so tend to have to wear close fitting styles.

New Look and the M&S £12 always mentioned on the S&B threads.

I really don't rate gap - over priced and bad shapes that stretch.

TrillianAstra · 03/01/2010 12:08

Jeans - gap long and lean for smarter ones, dorothy perkins bootcut for more casual (those are quite stretchy so they need a belt).

If you have hips I think you need jeans that come out at the bottom to balance it out. Anything that tapers at the bottom looks horrible to me.

Saintly minestrone sounds lovely Gerogi!

MitsubishiWarrioress · 03/01/2010 12:15

I have some nice boot leg ones from Next, but their sizing is way out. I have a size 14 and they are huge.

Joe browns boyfriend ones.

Assorted pairs of skinny leg ones for tunics/dresses etc from everywhere.

I have a love hate relationship with jeans though as I like the idea of them but am happiest in skirts and dresses with stockings or leggings.

My favourite pair of jeans are a very faded pair from primark that just feel fab but are getting quite thread bare.

So...no help whatsoever from here lol

TrillianAstra · 03/01/2010 12:15

My gap jeans are pretty old though, not sure if they've changed them at all.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 03/01/2010 12:16

Oh, and I am sorry you are out of sorts Bella...it is so unlike you. I hope the day improves.

TrillianAstra · 03/01/2010 12:21

You may need to go on a jeans hunt, go to lots of shops and try on 2 sizes of every style that you think you might like.

bellavita · 03/01/2010 12:37

Yeah, I think you are right Trills - a jeans hunt. What fits on the waist is baggy on the bum, what fits on the bum has about 3 inch sticking out of the back arrrghhhhhhh. Suppose it would actually be better to wait until I have lost half a stone and then see what I can get in to.

Oh and guess what? It is flippin well snowing here again.

awastingamanger · 03/01/2010 12:41

Oh no Bella! Snowed here da before bu meled before we wen for a walk.

awastingamanger · 03/01/2010 12:41

Does his read like I've been denis for injecion?

Georgimama · 03/01/2010 12:46

Until I put on this massive amount of weight I always wore Gap bootcut but they don't seem to make them anymore - they used to do a button fly for women but they don't anymore.

I have some boyfriend style dotty p ones which make my saddlebags look slightly smaller, and some crew orwell ones which I love very much - they are a bit big on the waist but that's because I had to get a 36 waist in order to get them over my lardy thighs.

awastingamanger · 03/01/2010 12:51

New Look, £12 jeans. Value for mone.

hellsbelles · 03/01/2010 12:52

Bella - I was like that a few days ago...I hope you feel better soon. Are there any good supplements that help with the pre-menstrual moods? Perhaps we should remind each other to take them. I seem to remember evening primrose is good. Must do some googling.

I usually weigh skinny jeans that rest on the hips (covering the muffin top with a big jumper or tunic. Gap do some....I also splash out on j brand (which act like spanx ) too as I wear them all the time so I figure cost per wear it's a bargain!! However at the moment I can't fit into them

Chaos - how old is DS? Bella is spot on about card games (at least with my DS who is 6 nearly 7). He loves them. He is particularly keen on cheat (if there is a third person around).

Day 3 lunch - was foil baked lemony salmon with half fat cream cheese dolloped on top, lots of salad and some broccoli. Was very nice indeed. I'm actually starting to enjoy this diet.

off to read the sunday papers now.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 03/01/2010 12:53

God that sounds like my idea of nightmare Trills. Going in and out of shops, trying on stuff. I am happiest with a catalogue and when I went shopping the other day it took me about 1hr from start to finish.

The best bit of shopping is Latte and Cake!

DingDongBinaryOnHigh · 03/01/2010 12:58

Hello, I'm just popping on whilst friend is upstairs

That's exactly how it sounds, Wasting

Topshop Baxter here too, or boyfriend jeans.

Bella, did I read a while back that you liked the cutlery so much at Pizza Express you stole it

Mits - how fab that you are back on fighting form.

I am hungover, again, and cannot wait to start The Diet. Friend leaves on Tueday, so will wait until then. She makes me drink...

TrillianAstra · 03/01/2010 13:04

The alternative for shopping haters (Mitts) is to find online shops that do free delivery over £X, then order more than £X worth of jeans, try them on, and send back all the ones you don't want. I didn't say it was fun, but if you want ot get the right jeans it is necessary.

I am roasting tomatoes for lunch because it sounded nice when all you beachers were doing it.

Wasting it does sound a lot like you've been to Dennis the Dentist

awastingamanger · 03/01/2010 13:05

:-D
DIB, wha die ou doing?

DingDongBinaryOnHigh · 03/01/2010 13:17

South Beach - hoping the book arrives pronto

bellavita · 03/01/2010 13:18

Dib - only two little itty bitty coffee spoons - need to go twice times then I will have six!

Hells - J brand jeans - what are these?

You are quite right Trills - free delivery code then just order loads of sizes and shapes.

Right, had better get my backside in gear and go and clean upstairs - I need to get out of DH's way otherwise I will explode. He is supposed to be doing some grouting in the shower room, doing all the paperwork for the charity he volunteers for (it is all over my dining room table like a shit tip) and guess what..... he has his lappy on his lap, his i-pod touch on the the chair arm and is now watching the frickin football. My blood is boiling.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 03/01/2010 13:22

I've always fancied a personal shopper Trills, you've got the job...

TrillianAstra · 03/01/2010 14:08

I thought that was what the Style&beauty threads were for - having a whole bunch of personal shoppers (who have very different tastes and budgets!)

IggiBurns · 03/01/2010 14:51

Hullo, wondering how long is ok to let toddler nap for (2hrs 25 mins and counting) in order to give its mother some much needed peace?
DS has discovered delights of using my body as some kind of playframe. Maybe form of exercise to have small person jumping on your stomach?
Hope it is going well for Flamingo today.
Have got friend to hit the shops with me tomorrow Trills so may have some news on dress front!

Georgimama · 03/01/2010 15:13

Depends what time you want said toddler to go to bed tonight! DS gets wet flannel treatment if he looks like sleeping after 3pm.

traceybath · 03/01/2010 15:57

Iggi - I'd let him sleep for up to 3 hours but no later than 4pm if you want a 7pm bedtime.

Just had roast chicken which was yummy.

J brand jeans are lovely but I'd personally wait to be goal weight or nearly there before spending £££ on them.

But then again if you wear jeans all the time its worth spending more on a cost per wear basis.

TrillianAstra · 03/01/2010 16:06

Not that I'm stalking but wedding dress thread for Iggi
