Welcome to our 36th healthy eating thread, where we will renew any healthy eating resolutions with all the viguor that the Christmas munchies require...

We chat, keep each other on track, and monitor our goals together- some on the thread have lost shed loads of weight, some are running ridiculous distances. Some, of course (like myself and Shiney, our dubious leader) have been a bit, er, remiss really. But that can all change with a New Year!

Come and introduce yourself, old and new, and let's get Mumsnet's famous Shiney Healthy Eating Thread kicked off for 2010...

Mascot? It's not the bat is it? Oh dear, now I feel about 13 and all the cool girls are standing in a corner giggling at me. More wine has got to be the answer.

IggiBurns · 01/01/2010 22:58

Georgie you really don't want to know, trust me. I'm sure you will see it him soon enough.
There's a good housekeeping section on MN? I feel all peculiar now. One more way to make me feel a failure, as if weigh-ins aren't bad enough!

Georgimama · 01/01/2010 23:00

As long as it's not a clown I'll be fine.

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 01/01/2010 23:03

Hey dont worry iggi, there are all sorts of aspects of good housekeeping. alot of the threads are asking for help/advice to solve house keeping issues.

Like my new coat folks? Just looked at my profile and it is decidedly empty need to come up with something witty and wise and not too geeky (will have to shake that image soon it is a tad hampering) If i can get everything else sorted then me is the next plan. less geeky more sexy is the plan... but it could be difficult considering apparantly i am not a proper girl as too blokely whatever the hell that means.

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 01/01/2010 23:05

oh it is much worse but believe that it has taken the holiday season off so might not be about for a while. You'll be fine.

IggiBurns · 01/01/2010 23:05

Have just looked for a coat on your profile pictures before realising what you are on about.. god I'm slow today.
Or may be the drink

Georgimama · 01/01/2010 23:06

Worse than a clown? I'm a bit scared now to be honest.

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 01/01/2010 23:07

bless you iggi. was the bottle you opened last night ok or was it a too good to be drunk on?

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 01/01/2010 23:08

its not as bad as a hairy legged creature discovered in your bed if that helps. but not sure you would want to discover it in you bed.

Georgimama · 01/01/2010 23:09

Not want to discover it in my bed.

John Prescott?

TinselianAstra · 01/01/2010 23:24

So is ChaosTheory DEM? Cos DreamsInBinary comes up with things like that quite often too...

Just watched Dr Who, it was quite poignant, they're taking it very seriously for what used to be a childrens show.

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 01/01/2010 23:26

that is not an image i want. pass the bleach! stop worrying you'll findout soon enough - else you can trawl through the old threads it in there somewhere

Definetly have to turn off the computer now.
Sleep!

IggiBurns · 02/01/2010 00:05

He he. It seems I was allowed that one (whisky), but narrowly missed the really good stuff
Feeling a bit daft tonight as had no idea that you are expected to buy a wedding dress about 20 years before the event and now realise I will not have time before April - so looks like it'll be a "buy-it-now" off ebay for me! Oh well it serves me right for getting married.

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 02/01/2010 00:07

There are aparantly some good japanese sites that will make a deliver not too expensive and fairly quickly 6 weeks i think it was. But no good if above average height. Might be worth a look?

IggiBurns · 02/01/2010 00:10

Thank you! Being tall not a problem, though being large (even after months of shiney) is!
Think I'll need to try a few of the bloody things on in a real shop though to get a feel of what I want. I can always lie about the wedding date.
Off to bed, to dream of nice black clothes with not a frill or corset in sight! Sleep well.

jaquelinehyde · 02/01/2010 00:32

DEM - I checked the thread, yep I get the sudden panic

I'm up too late tonight. I'm supposed to be up early tomorrow, and cleaning and changing bedrooms around (something I should have done a few days ago) I need your cleaning vibes for tomorrow please.

If you see me on here tomorrow tell me to clear off until all clearing away, cleaning, and moving bedrooms round are sorted.

traceybath · 02/01/2010 08:02

Iggi - monsoon have some nice wedding dresses.

I bought mine in Karen Millen - was just a knee length strapless dress as didn't want the big white dress.

Well weighed myself and have gained 2.25lbs over xmas which isn't too bag I guess. So I now have 6.25lbs to go to goal weight. Not much but seems to be really hard for me to lose.

Fell asleep watching Dr Who on iplayer last night so will watch it tonight instead.

Georgimama · 02/01/2010 08:08

Try sample sale shops Iggi - that's where I got mine. I got a dress (this is some time ago) that was about £600 to order but bought the sample for £200. You just try and buy.

Morning all, well seems the snow is back, have had a hairy drive into work (work??) and am now defrosting.

Mitts, I am sure that you can "manage" menopausal symptoms through diet, or at least try to. I remember getting a load of info on it for my Mom a while ago. This computer has certain things blocked (no facebook/yahoo but I can MN , very little shopping/info sites allowed), but will have a search for you.

Hells, I haven't given up coffee yet, as am easing myself into the eating part until the book turns up. Once I do, prepare for a very grumpy Lizzy, let me tell you!

Iggi, I know Reality got a beautiful wedding dress made for her on Ebay, really fab, stalk her and find out more! If you give them your measurements they will make it and then if you order it quickly enough if you've lost weight you could get it altered locally? Or yes, Monsoon, some lovely dresses there.

Hope everyone is good, just me and the fishes today (RIP Patrick the turtle, sob)

awastingamanger · 02/01/2010 09:17

Good morning!

Protein is good for breakfast Shiney.

DEM I'd have been panicking too.

Iggi, bless ya. How about a plain dress and then get some nice accessories eg, hand crocheted shawl, tiara etc.
You do need to get on it now though.

bellavita · 02/01/2010 09:25

Hello

Yogga brekka again this morning.....

Step away from the peanut butter Shiney!

Lizzy - the snow has moved to you eh - sorry to be but it makes me feel better that it isn't just us!

Oooh yes, Reality has a gawgeous wedding dress.

When is Vinny back anyone know?

I need to do loads of stuff today

Lizzylou · 02/01/2010 09:28

Bella, as I was sliding up our hill to get onto the main road, I did feel that I shouldn't have been so smug about not having snow yesterday when you said you'd got it! It is coming down thick and fast now, snowflakes the size of side plates !

Will be a lonely day here I think, who'd want to go and view house/buy a house/sell a house in this bloody weather?

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 02/01/2010 09:29

Morning ladies.

Haven't read through properly, will try to catch up at some point though.

Iggi - We had 4 months to plan our wedding, and i managed to find a dress i liked in the evening dress section of Debenhams. I had tried on a few in bridal shops but nothing was right, but my dress was perfect and only cost £100. I don't know if you are on FB but it is my profile pic on there if you want to have a look. If you are trying to lose weight, i would suggest getting a size smaller than you are atm as mine didn't fit as nicely by the time of the wedding. Good luck!

Eating sultanas for breakfast, don't really fancy anything else. But its healthy

Have a good day all

bellavita · 02/01/2010 09:38

Lizzy - that's what the snow flakes were like here yesterday .

Hope you get some business through the doors today otherwise it s going to be a long lonely day for you
