...for our 31st Heathy Eating thread- I can't promise that we aren't re-cycling titles for the thread at this point, and like any sequel it will no doubt be full of inferior lines and piss-poor cinematography (after all, who can beat the links to Terry Wogan? Oops), but we are all here and welcome any newcomers who want to join in the frenzy and hilarity that are the Shiney threads, named for our glorious leader

We chat, support, and shout at each other in varying amounts, and try to stay on the straight and narrow for health, weight-loss or both. Join in, and have fun- it's cheaper than weightwatchers, and there are rude jokes and bargain shopping codes too- what more could you ask for?

I used to always buy real christmas trees, but they are such a pain, needles everywhere, go brown if you buy then too early, look shabby by the time xmas comes, dangerous for toddlers, and a pita to get rid of after xmas

I bought a nice artificial one when the finster started crawling, much less hastle

TrillianAstra · 28/11/2009 11:24

We need to get a Christmas tree. It will be a fake one. Possibly with fibre-optic stuff to plug in.

Decorating trees is for kids. Having real trees is for people who don't have cats. (not that I have a cat, but if I got a real one we'd have to decorate it).

Liked the corset talk by the way

BitOfFun · 28/11/2009 11:42

They are a pain in the arse to get rid of, unless you've got a chopsaw and a real fire- and love BURNING STUFF like me. I have created a mini-climate zone above my house

Mmm, yes, I can see how burning it might be fun.

Have just ordered this coat with Shiney's 20% off and free delivery codes IT is red.

Oh I have the shoes, didn't I say? The shiny shiny ones. The Littlewoods etc places all basically have the same stuff, so I closed my account wiht Choice (cos they deliver stupidly) and ordered them from Marshall Ward who were happy to leave them outside my front door.

SparklyAlice · 28/11/2009 12:52

Nice coat Trills

christmas trees.....We got one in a pot last year, have kept it in the garden for this year (its real) and, well, lets just say ..evergreen my arse! it is brown and anorexic looking. We also have a toddler and a cat, so perhaps a fake one. DH doesn't like them though, oh well...

Went to a book sale in Cambridge today, Galloway and Porter warehouse, got about 6 books for £15 very impressed, was busy though. Have bought myself Through the Looking Glass (alice in wonderland) as i have never read it, very excited - is that sad?

TrillianAstra · 28/11/2009 14:14

Never sad to be excited about a book you haven't read Alice

TrillianAstra · 28/11/2009 19:00

Where is everyone?

I've been clearing out the outside cupboard, getting new pillows and Christmas lights from Tesco, getting pissed off/upset because I can't park and can't do spatial manipulation stuff, putting up Christmas lights, and working out what I'm wearing for my Christmas party thingy next Saturday.

And now I'm goin to have a takeaway.

Oh, and Star Wars is on.

TrillianAstra · 28/11/2009 19:01

Are any of our gang going to the big party tonight?

Not sure yet if I'll like it, but one of the codes was 20% off and the other was free delivery (I think) so I can take it back to the shop and not have lost anything if it's no good.

I have been sooo productive this afternoon. We have fairy lights

SparklyAlice · 28/11/2009 19:30

Have you not got anything to wear yet Trills? Have seen some lovely dresses on the Asda and Tesco websites from £12

I am babysitting for my friend who is also going to that party

BitOfFun · 28/11/2009 19:30

It has been very quiet all day whenever I've checked in...I saw my friend's new baby today- just gorgeous

I will never have another one

But as well too I suppose- I don't think I could hack another few years with even less sleep. They are so cute though, especially when it's not your nipples they are chewing.

I've had a bit of a depressing day, went to my local town center to exchange some clothes i got from New Look but i just find the whole place depressing, poverty stricken and a bit sad

I did cheer up though as i had to drive into Liverpool city center to drop ds1 and his GF off, they were going to a nice restaurant, then onto watch Disney on ice at the Echo area

I dont go into Liverpool center very often but i have to say the christmas lights looked beautiful and it got me in a christmasy mood, i want to take ds2 on the big wheel next time i go

Called into my parents on the way home and got given a huge bowl of home made curry, so i am stuffed, just having a glass of wine and eating chocolates

How is everyone enjoying the weekend?

DreamsInBinary · 28/11/2009 19:52

Hello

My wisdom tooth is pushing through and good god it hurts . I feel a little more synpathy for teething babies now. Hasn't stopped me eating, of course.

I love rugby, but I am bloody glad the Autumn Tours are over. Whisking dc out of the house every Saturday so that dh can watch in peace/have the boys round is not easy in such vile weather.

A night of wine, Strictly and X Factor awaits. Is it a good or a bad thing to be excited by that?

VinegarTits · 28/11/2009 19:53

i get very broody when i see fresh babies Bof

i would love to have another before its too late, i absolutely cherished the newness of ds2 and savored every minute of him (still do) i think it was because i was so young when i had ds1, that i didnt appreciate mother hood at the time, but i do now, and get very clucky

DreamsInBinary · 28/11/2009 19:56

Ooooh, get me and my whiney post

I get broody near newborns, too. Very. If we won the lottery, the very first thing I'd do is get pregnant, but no chance without a FT nanny

VinegarTits · 28/11/2009 19:57

Oh i feel for you DIB, i had 3 impacted wisdom teeth taken out last year, they caused me no end of misery, and it is such a relief to not have them anymore, but i still recall the pain they caused

I live for wine, strictly and x factor on Saturdays atm, so not sad at all

I am far to regal to go to a common 'knees up'

BitOfFun · 28/11/2009 20:03

We were talking about it last night, and decided it isn't ever going to happen- we were hoping it might be a possibility when money picks up, but I think now that DP has seen the reality of how hard it can be looking after dd2, all bets are off.

Am trying to be philosophical though- we're having quite a laugh being parents to teenagers, and dd2 brings her own rewards.

If you see something on the news about a newborn being snatched in Liverpool though, don't grass me up, ok?

My friend has called him Finn, Vinny ...for now at least- he's had three names since he popped out last week

OP posts:
DreamsInBinary · 28/11/2009 20:10

It's such a hard decision, isn't it?

A third would throw our lives upside down - we'd need new car, a new house, and we'd be permanently broke. More than any of that, I can barely cope with two for any length of time , and the thought of another colcky baby screaming for five hours every night...

...and then I catch myself wondering whether a third would have DS or DD's characteristics, or whether totally different again, and how wonderful it is to be pregnant.

BitOfFun · 28/11/2009 20:15

I think I just feel I missed the whole baby experience with DP- I know he would have been sharing the work, and it's a shame we didn't meet sooner...ach well.
