...for our 31st Heathy Eating thread- I can't promise that we aren't re-cycling titles for the thread at this point, and like any sequel it will no doubt be full of inferior lines and piss-poor cinematography (after all, who can beat the links to Terry Wogan? Oops), but we are all here and welcome any newcomers who want to join in the frenzy and hilarity that are the Shiney threads, named for our glorious leader

We chat, support, and shout at each other in varying amounts, and try to stay on the straight and narrow for health, weight-loss or both. Join in, and have fun- it's cheaper than weightwatchers, and there are rude jokes and bargain shopping codes too- what more could you ask for?

DS was on one last night and has reduced me to being a tearful wreck. Whatever his issues, it is so hard to accept that an 11 yr old can come out and say, and do, the things he said and did.

My blood boiled and now I feel like shite. And it was triggered by me having wrongly anticipated what he might like for tea. He raged for 2 1/2 hrs and the last 1/2 hr I really fell apart. I shouted. My head is screaming, my throat is sore. The DC's Dad is being an arse, the house is a mess because I couldn't do anything last night.

Do you keep it together BoF? You go through so much more than me, but do you manage to stay calm and reasonable? Because I feel so crap about myself even though I had mostly tried to do what I thought was best. And I let myself down in the last 1/2 hr.

I was doing so bloody well.

Lizzylou · 01/12/2009 09:33

Aww Mits
I am a shouter, not straight away, but I would have lasted 15 or so minutes before shouting, not 2 hours! Bloody good on you for keeping your cool for so long.

Tis a snog fest round here today

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 01/12/2009 10:03

Thanks Lizzy, he dragged his finger through a (small) cobweb at one point and sneered at me that I couldn't even keep the house clean. He is 11. And then he will turn and demand that I help him calm down.

I think I need to gather myself today.

Lizzylou · 01/12/2009 10:16

[Shock] Cheeky beggar!
When he gets in from school give him a duster!

Wonder how long I've got before my boys realise what a pit we live in???!

Mitts - you lasted a lot longer than me with the shouting. I always shout and straight away - I am not a calm person whatsoever. I was like a bloody fishwife this morning at 7.45am.

Never mind cleaning the house, give yourself a break and put your feet up with a coffee.

You have been forced to stick the heating on

Ours has been on since back end of September.....

Bloody cold here too. Had to defrost my car this morning.

Wonder how Trills is feeling?

jetcat · 01/12/2009 10:39

hi all

Mits - hope you ok hun - my 12 yr old can say some similar things to that - and i have to stop myself from losing it

I am not online very much at the moment, as i still havent got the laptop back, and Junior's computer is proving very much hit and miss, due to all the crap lovely games she has downloaded without my knowledge I spent all weekend last weekend trying to sort out the viruses(sp?) with the help of a techie poster over at moneysavingexpert! Still not completely fixed - but i have give up lol!

Will be posting my secret santa at the beginning of next week - just checking if anyone has sent theirs off yet?

Oh, and i love the total recipes folder - some of the things in there are 64g fat per portion!!! That will be a no for me then....

Hey Jet
Am posting mine this week.
Have been busy trying to sort stuff so I can hopefully stop my Saturday job, getting fed up of it and the new manager (aged 25, used to be a Negotiator like me) has become a power crazed beeatch, so it's not enjoyable anymore. Will miss Patrick the turtle though......

Shiney, I have tried to do a commanding voice (have practiced it in front of a mirror with a look as well), doesn't work on my boys

Hope today goes OK

bellavita · 01/12/2009 10:57

at Patrick the turtle!

How long have you been working at the Sat job Lizzy?

Hello jet

Our heating comes on at 5.30am and goes off at 9.30am (sometimes after like today when I am at home in the morning) through the week and 7.30am till 10.30am on a weekend. It always gets put back on during the day on a weekend. Comes on at 3.45pm and goes off at about 8.30pm. I am soft.

TrillianAstra · 01/12/2009 10:58

Hi, I'm in work, lots of stuff to catch up on. Brain not quite 100% engaged but it'll have to do.

Mits - I agree with Lizzy, 11 is definitely old enough to be in charge of dusting if he thinks it's so important

bellavita · 01/12/2009 11:04

I have a 12.5 year old who is flippin lazy and won't make much of an effort and asks if he will get paid . But DS2 who is 10 is fab at housework and washing cars. He even offers to do the housework for no cash reward.

Lizzylou · 01/12/2009 11:05

Bella, have been there for just over 2 years, started it to keep my brain going, didn't work in the week at all. Now I "work" from home in the week I miss my boys and DH and weekends would be so much nicer and more chilled, but am not making money from the business so need to find some other income...

Christmas lunch is sorted, not going to have starters and will give SIL choice of Quorn fillet thingy, Goats cheese and caramelised onion tart or Mushroon Wellington.

Will save the pate for dinner time......

bellavita · 01/12/2009 11:09

Hope something turns up for you Lizzy

Right, had better go and slap some lippy on for work. Need to pop to the post office on my way out too. Catch up later.

Hiya ladies.

What a morning. It's not just a roof problem like we thought. We think that has been fixed......but....the bulge in the living room has turned out to be a leaking pipe (we think?). Today we have had water absolutely pissing out of the hole we made yesterday so have had to turn off the stop cock. So now we have no water and no heating. Have an engineer coming out between 5pm and 10pm tonight.

I hate, hate, hate phoning these insurance people. Honestly, this morning I have been on the edge of all reason and (embarrassingly) on the verge of tears. Our house is freezing and we only have half a kettle of water left, will need to go out and buy some. The ceiling is a bloody mess, am really trying to keep perspective here but it is hard.

I am eating healthily though, honest.
