Am sick of my messages never getting through - I have had 7 attempts to reply to Cakes' last post- am starting a new thread ....
this is what I wrote anyway.....

righto, this i my 7th attempt to reply on this thread - everything keeps disappearing !
My assessment is on 25th,and am told to allow two hours for it,crikey !!
Saw a lady in town yesterday who was having rads and finished at about the same time as me and she's just seen the onc. for her follow up - they are running very behind I know- so I emailed to ask about mine - I tie myself in knots in trying to be assertive yet not too needy or a nuisance - I suppose I just like to feel that everything is done in order. Am not worrying about my health -am sure breast is fine and dandy, it's more my emotional state which troubles me.
Anyway, they have made me an appointment but it's at the same time as my assessment so have emailed back and left a phone message...arghh !
Special thoughts for RWU today and of course KurriKurri - hope all ok..and of course you Cakes and Morph.

Thanks for all the good wishes for my weekend - was just what the doctor (should have) ordered. I am back a bit earlier than i would usually be: my lunatic father in law came with us this time and started agitating to get home in time for his weekly bingo session (he had about five hours to complete a one hour trip )

Just dropped in to say i love your attitudes Pennies and BurningBright. Lots and lots of positive thoughts and hopes for tomorrow for you both.

RWU - next round tomorrow: hope all goes OK, postive vibes to you too, as always.

KK - it's best I don't get started on banks. Twats.

sandripples · 14/02/2010 19:12

Thinking of you BB and Pennies. And good luck to you too, RWU. xx

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/02/2010 19:46

Thinking of you all today - Pennies, BurningBright and RWU.

And of course best wishes to SR and HD, hope you aren't feeling too bad at the moment.

Will update a bit later, - rather rushed at present. Dad went downhill a bit at weekend so awaiting news. He's been moved for the 5th time to yet another hospital, for more intensive care.

Cakesandale · 15/02/2010 13:23

Oh dear KK

Hope he is going to be OK. What a worry.

Thinking of you all

reallywoundup · 15/02/2010 14:29

i'm back! just feel a bit battered!

KK- hope it all settles down, it must be tough. we've had a set back in the MIL stakes as well so i know how stressful these things can be!

Hope all is well for the surgery peeps- hopefully they will soon be settled on a comfy ward being looked after and pampered a bit!

MIL is now not being considered for the brain surgery- they only agreed to do it because she was fully mobile and independant, now she is a doubly incontinent jibbering wreck . So DH has taken the boys over there today to visit and he will have a chat with the doc to see what the latest plan is but it looks like once she no longer needs physio she will be booted out of the hospital and will prob have to go into a home for at least a little while if not permenantly

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/02/2010 15:19

glad you are safely back RWU,if a little battered...so sorry about MIL's setback and KK's dad too.
Hope too that BurningBright and Pennies are comfy and snug in bed and resting.
Took ds to Winchester today - no nice trousers anywhere for me,except for in the Hambledon -a pair of navy linen trousers for £50 (Great Plains) -which is cheap for that shop. Didn;t buy any though.

Hi RWU

Glad you are OK, so sorry to hear about MIL - poor dh.

Day out sounds nice MAS.

I am now officially busier than a busy person from the planet busy. After months of tinkering about looking for new business (some of mine looks a bit shaky owing to recession) a mahoosive job has just landed in my lap from someone I had not even considered. Typical!. Have taken it on, have NO idea how i am going to do it in time. Ah, well, needs must!

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/02/2010 07:28

oh well done Caks - you must be pleased yet panicky -I always panic with any new job and always overestimate how much time I need - you'll be fine !
Hope post-op ladies are recovering comfortably today and RWU is less wobbly- she made me laugh on my facebook page (my ranting about a giant land rover with a Cath Kidston bag in the back, parked too close to my car !- RWU has one and CK baby paraphenalia in the back -arf !)

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 16/02/2010 07:29

Cakes - not Caks -tsk

Pennies · 16/02/2010 07:33

Morning all. On my phone here. Made it. Feel sore and zonked but relieved.

Hope you're not feeling too bad BB and that your ok too RWU.

It doesn't look too bad. My norks were pretty small anyway so there's not a great a difference visually.

Lots of sleeping plannned today.

Cakesandale · 16/02/2010 09:30

Thanks MAS!

Morning Pennies! Good on yer, sounds like you are doing just fine, I am pleased it is going well so far. LOTS of rest and relaxation for a few days. That's a big hurdle cleared with aplomb! Welcome back. xx

sandripples · 16/02/2010 10:11

Pennies - great to hear from you. Have as much rest and pampering as you possibly can.

RWU - really sorry about your MIL. Its really difficult to ensure the care after hospital is right isn't it. My DH is supporting an aunt in this situation - they keep saying she'll be leaving next week but has been in for about 8 weeks now and very frail/immobile. Unhelpful physio who does not treat her positively, so she'd be better somewhere else.

Cakes - congratulations on the new contract and good luck.

MAS I have not really got into Facebook but glad you're enjoying a laugh. I piggy-back on my husband's and son's FB for news sometimes.

Meanwhile I am getting anxious about all this waiting - now have bone scan set for 24th and await date for CT scan. Have you had these done? My pain with intraveninous antibiotics has left me feeling pretty weak and phobic about these procedures. District Nurses are allowing me the w/e off from daily fessings so that we can go away for Sat/Sun. so that will be nice. I've been completely tied to the house or hospital or immediate surroundings for waht feels like ages. Well since 5 Jan when the snow fell really. Finding this waiting a bit more difficult now.

On more positive note, the hats and scarves I ordered have arrived and look really nice. I over-ordered to give myself some choice and there are 3 I'll return - I really don't suit a turban shape! But little bonnet/round shaped cosy hats are great. And the pre-tied look nicer than I expected too. False fringe looks completely ridiculous but I suppose I could cut it into better shape!

reallywoundup · 16/02/2010 10:20

arf indeed MAS! Tis beautiful although admittedly the combo of mahoosive 4x4, bugaboo and Cath Kidston is a little poncy lol! but when teamed with wellies and wax jacket it looks even more hilarious !!

Good luck Cakes on the new job!

SR- have fun with the head coverings lol! sounds tricky with the aunt.

pennies- nice to see you, take it easy and rest!

I'm ok- off for a mooch round morrisons in a bit, hopefully kid free need to find some graph paper for a knitting intarsia pattern but really don't want to have to go into town!

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/02/2010 11:21

good luck in Morrisons RWU !
Lovely to see you Pennies - lots of rest now
SR - try not to be too anxious - it does seem a relentless trek though.Scarves etc sound great.
Am getting v anxious about a few days away with ILs - this is when my OCD becomes bad -I find leaving the house to go away incredibly difficult -am hoping though that the ADs will have tempered this a bit...will see.

KurriKurri · 16/02/2010 11:26

hello all - I went out yesterday afternoon, and by the time I got back -No Mumsnet [shock horror ]

Lovely to hear from you Pennies, I'm glad the op. went fine - you will be feeling very tired, so loads of rest, and sleeping sounds a good plan.

I hope everything went well for you too BB and you aren't too uncomfortable, don't know if you are able to read this from hospital, but looking forward to having you and Pennies back with us.

Hope your treatment wasn't too bad yesterday RWU, and sorry to hear about your MIL, very stressful for you and DH.

Well done on the job Cakes - it sounds as if it will keep you very busy, but exciting too.

Sounds a lovely day out MAS, I don't think I've ever been to Winchester, but oddly, last night I had a thought that it would be nice to visit all the cathedral cities in the UK, so Winchester may be on my to do list.

SR - I'm glad you like your hats .
The waiting is hard I know, - so many things going on, I have had CT and bone scan, I will write a separate post for you on what I remember of the procedures, there is nothing painful involved.

MY Dad has developed a chest infection in both his lungs. So has been moved to a bigger hospital for closer observation. He's on a big dose of intravenous AB's, and mum said he seemed a little perkier and his temp. is going down. So fingers crossed.

I'd like to go down, but sugesting it is making my mum agitated, because she is worried about me missing my treatment (I've got a couple of hosp. appointments over the next ten days). But obviously if things get worse I will get down to Dorset. I feel so guilty about the extra worry me being ill has caused her, as if she didn't have enough to worry about.

During his moves from hospital to hospital, they've managed to lose my dad's day clothes, his pyjamas and his washing/shaving kit. Can't find them - although my sis, has been round all the hospitals asking. So mum has had to buy a load of new stuff for him. .

Sorry this is a huge post. Don't even go there with the bank

On a good note, a friend came round this morning, with a bunch of spring flowers for me, and brought her little grandson for a visit. He's four and a HALF(very important) and is gorgeous.

KurriKurri · 16/02/2010 11:40

SR - with regard to the bone scan, IIRC, they inject you with a radioactive substance, then you go away for a couple of hours so it gets into your system, then go back for the scan.

You lie on a table and an overhead scanner goes over you, it comes fairly close to your body, I found shutting my eyes helped. It takes about 30 mins. They may let you have someone in with you if you think that would help. Its not uncomfortable, just a question of lying still for a while.

CT scan - You go in earlier than your scan time, and have to drink a flavoured drink over an hour or so I think (Its a jug full of stuff). Then you go into the scan room, and they get you in position.

The scanner is one of those circular tunnel type things. But they don't go over your head with it. The table you're on moves through it slowly, but it doesn't take very long. I think they also gave me an injection of something when I got into the room.

I hope thats helpful for you. They are not unpleasant or distressing procedures, just a bit time consuming. Take plenty of reading matter as you may be waiting around a bit. Good luck.

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/02/2010 11:47

hope your dad is soon over the infection - poor man.

pranma · 16/02/2010 12:05

helloooooo Pennies just reminded me that I hadnt said anything on here for ages so I thought I'd pop over and see how everyone was doing.I should actually have read everything first so before I make some insensitive boob[lol]I'll have a read and come back later.

sandripples · 16/02/2010 12:14

KK - thanks for the info - its helpful to know a bit more than what the hopsital told me!

A little bouquet of freesias arrived at my door this morning. From an old friend and former colleague I don't see much now as I am in the NW and she is in London but she is a good support for me as she has been through this 3 years ago and is now v well.

Cakesandale · 16/02/2010 13:49

SR - good luck with the tests. take a deep breath and you'll be fine (haven't had them myself, but am sure you'll be OK).

The false fringe sounds totally bonkers. I'd cut it off.

Sorry about your dad KK, what a worry. Hopefully the ABs will help soon.

My new work is for the NHS,oddly enough, a couple of projects. I've been trying to get public sector work for ages with no luck, then an old friend phones you up and bingo! you're in! Isn't life odd?

reallywoundup · 16/02/2010 14:00

oooooh! i have a new great-niece born this morning by c-section at 3.32 am weighing 7lb9oz, Natasha Stephanie!!!! and the even better news is that she's in Liverpool so i get to go and have cuddles but not be expected to babysit ...... RESULT!!!!

KurriKurri · 16/02/2010 14:05
