Am sick of my messages never getting through - I have had 7 attempts to reply to Cakes' last post- am starting a new thread ....
this is what I wrote anyway.....

righto, this i my 7th attempt to reply on this thread - everything keeps disappearing !
My assessment is on 25th,and am told to allow two hours for it,crikey !!
Saw a lady in town yesterday who was having rads and finished at about the same time as me and she's just seen the onc. for her follow up - they are running very behind I know- so I emailed to ask about mine - I tie myself in knots in trying to be assertive yet not too needy or a nuisance - I suppose I just like to feel that everything is done in order. Am not worrying about my health -am sure breast is fine and dandy, it's more my emotional state which troubles me.
Anyway, they have made me an appointment but it's at the same time as my assessment so have emailed back and left a phone message...arghh !
Special thoughts for RWU today and of course KurriKurri - hope all ok..and of course you Cakes and Morph.

Pennies, that is horrible but just a silly story in your head. Shake it off with a bit of exercise and something nice to look forward to.

I have had a lot of anxiety dreams just recently and have been feeling a bit down. I have what i am sure is a virus, isn't too bad but it is making me very achey - especially in my neck. Now pains in the neck (of the medical variety, not the small child variety) are something I have been told to watch out for, so this is playing on my mind, even though a friend who works in A&E tells me there is a stiff neck virus going round here at the moment, and even though my dd also has it. I just can't shake the thought that it is something else. Unfortunately, anxiety is our constant partner just at the moment. But it'll pass.

Resist the urge to reach for the gin bottle, and do something nice and mildly energetic instead.

Positive thoughts for RWU - and everyone else, of course

KurriKurri · 08/02/2010 11:27

Sorry you had a bad night Pennies, it is as others have said an anxiety dream. I get them sometimes, don't know if you are on any sleeping pills but my GP says they can have an effect on your dreams too.

My mum always said 'if you dream it, it won't come true' - of course the opposite is true if its a nice dream.

Good luck and good vibes for today RWU. xxx

And love to everyone else of course.

sandripples · 08/02/2010 13:23

What a horrid dream Pennies - hugs to you from me too.

I didn't dream but had a not-very-good-night as I just woke up at and was totally wide awake till about 0630. I was doing my usual things like thinking of lovely times past and pleasant places, but I did have to get up in the end. A few crackers, a cup of Redbush and a Paracetamol did the trick eventually and I slept till 0830. Has left me a little tired today.

Wonder if my very long walk (just over an hour which I was proud of - longest in 3 weeks) stimulated some strange body reaction as I got numbness down my arm/pins and neeles in arm and one leg in the night.

I don't have any company till this afternoon so put on a corny CD by The Mavericks and did some exercises for my back as well as my 'cordy' arm! (Some of waving around like a loon variety..)I have loved that CD ever since it was played endlessly at Primary School summer fetes and discos! I don't listen to that often but it cheered me up.

I intend to drive for the 1st time in 3 weeks, on Wednesday and go and buy some of the books and creams you've recommended! Have finally finished my first audio book today - was a bit of a relief as you never know how long they are going to be, and I'd sort of had enough of this one!

Hoping RWU is OK.

Cakesandale · 08/02/2010 13:59

Hi sandripples

Well done on the exercise!

I am having a lot of nights like that at the moment: in my case the numbness in the arms is caused by RSI and also an old elbow injury. And a bit of extra wakefulness which I think is courtesy of the tamoxifen. Sleepless nights are the PITS!!!

Cakesandale · 08/02/2010 14:27

I am knackered and I have a playdate to endure look forward to this afternoon. Aaargh! They always go completely pear-shaped, I am not sure why, dd and small friend just get all over excited and moody and I end up getting absoultely frazzled

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/02/2010 17:36

well done sandripples - hope the driving goes well too.

reallywoundup · 08/02/2010 20:53

helllooooo! i'm still here!, walking (albeit slowly ) and talking (lots!!!- new fun painkillers!) feel a bit battered and bruised and quite sorry for myself BUT it isn't too bad, going to have an early night after hustle as have lots of things to do tomorrow (like the car's MOT ) x hope all's well with everyone.

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/02/2010 21:04

hello RWU - glad you are back and hope it's not too eeww
rest and take care x

Pennies · 08/02/2010 21:50

Glad your back OK RWU. And well done on the exercises Sandripples.

Just seen a rather crazyily fun but also potentially damaged nanny. That's another no-no then.

Cakesandale · 09/02/2010 10:04

Hi RWU

Gald to see you are back, hope you had a good night. Painkillers sound interesting!

Pennies, where are you advertising to find all these loons? Bet it's not The lady!

Cakesandale · 09/02/2010 11:26

Incidentally, have any of you seen anything of MorphFan recently?

She just seems to have disappeared, which is fine if she is OK - but was just wondering if she is still MN-ing. Anyone know?

KurriKurri · 09/02/2010 11:39

I haven't seen her anywhere Cakes, I hope she is OK.

I'm glad Monday wasn't too awful RWU, try to take things as gently as you can.

I started another yoga class yesterday - same teacher, different venue. It's at a big medical practice in the city - a really good idea I think.

I managed a 1500m swim. I reckon if I increase my distance by 10-20 lengths each time, I'll be on target. The problem is after about an hour and a quarter, I'm desperate for a wee, so have to get out. (old lady emoticon)

Cakesandale · 09/02/2010 12:13

Ha ha! It's not the age of your bladder, it's the coldness of the water. Honest!

Hope Morph is OK. If lurking, Morph, could you just say Hi? No details necessary if you don't want!

Update on the dreaded playdate - both kids were as nice as pie, apart from the fact that they let the rabbbits loose. But I got a bit of exercise catching the little swines (Man, those things can RUN)

KurriKurri · 09/02/2010 12:36

That's a relief Cakes - I thought perhaps I was sucking up water like one of those fire fighting planes.

Glad the playdate went well.

I remember DS when he was little coming in from the garden and starting a long rambling story about how he'd been playing with daddy, then he'd taken off his coat and they'd done this and that etc....... eventually I interrupted 'Did Daddy send you in with a message DS' after a long pause he said 'Oh yes he said to tell you the guinea pigs have escaped' ! cue about an hour of GP wrangling.

Cakesandale · 09/02/2010 12:43

Eek! Guinea pigs are doubly hard to catch!

About day 7 of a stupid virus today. I am getting HACKED OFF! It isn't amounting to much beyond a slightly scratchy throat, sore neck, and extreme tiredness, but it is a nuisance.

Doesn't your skin dry out horribly with all that swimming?

Dd wanted to arrange a large scale fun run to raise money for Haiti: I felt this was beyond my capabilities to arrange so she is going to cycle 5 times round our local park in two weeks time. She is leaning an all family members to cough up some cash [ grin] - we'll see them all this weekend so they won't know what has hit them! She is not taking 'No' for an answer!

KurriKurri · 09/02/2010 12:55

Well done your DD - she sounds a very enterprising little girl

Skin - yes I have to plaster on moisturing lotion afterwards.

Virus sounds horrid, hope it clears soon.

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/02/2010 12:57

oh what a star dd is Cakes !
I continue to be impressed by swimming and yoga - the best I've done today is a walk into town and back- will be out later to pick up friend's dcs,so that's a bit more exercise I suppose.
Was wondering about Morph too - if you're lurking Morph we are thinking of you.

Pennies · 09/02/2010 13:10

Hello.

Guinea pig and rabbit chasing, swimming, charity bike rides, yoga, play dates. Lordy all life is here!

I hope your virus clears up soon Cakes - very annoying to have another bloody health thing to think about.

RWU - hope you're doing OK today and that the car passes the MOT!!

Slept better (although kept semi waking and congratulating myself on not having the dream again!). Been to see BCN nurse for pre-op chat and the fondling of false boobies. Cried and laughed alternately all the way through it. Found the post MX pics hard to cope with and was very emotional indeed at the point.

Came home to find DH has sent me a dozen red roses as an early St Vals present (early because they're cheaper today than they will be on the 14th? Cynical? moi?). He's just being amazing through this. He's had something of a blessed existence so far (fab family life, good education, great career, stunning wife , wonderful kids etc etc puke puke puke) and this is his first real test of trauma. He's doing amazingly.

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/02/2010 13:24

what a lovely dh - he probably wanted you to enjoy the roses before hospital

Pennies · 09/02/2010 13:25

Of course! I can be thick sometimes, can't I.

Off to eat some jaffa cakes.

sandripples · 09/02/2010 13:45

at the fire-fighting image!
Hope you let yourslef have a break today RWU, after yesterday. Good that that part is done.
I am also impressed by swimming and yoga.
Pennies - you had a tough time yesterday- sending hugs for support.

Guinea pigs - loved that story. We had one called Heidi (for obvious reasons). It escaped on about the 3rd day after we'd bought it, and we just could not catch her. She lived under a bush for a couple of weeks and we fed her stuff beside the bush. Then she disappeared and we made little posters for all the neighbours, and after a couple of days a sheepish neighbour arrived on the doorstep with Heidi. The little gp was alive but had been mauled by neighbour's cat, and they are so fragile that we knew this was likely to be fatal - sadly this was the case but I like to think she had a good, albeit short, life...this was several years ago so don't be too sad. The rabbit we bought at the same time lived for a good number of years despite being solo.

And a bit of good news - I got up today and my pain levels had dropped significantly, I've not needed to take anything at all and stabbing sensations are now more like tingling [relief emoticon] AND a friend has just taken me out to a farm shop for lunch.

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/02/2010 13:53

excellent about pain SR (and lunch)
love guinea pigs - I'm attempting to do a book and there are guinea pigs in it - we used to have them as children - Daisy was rescued from boistrous children and given a home in our old coal shed.

OP posts:
Cakesandale · 09/02/2010 14:14

Pennies - your dh sounds lovely. Roses at any time are jsut what the doctor ordered.

Good about the pain sandripples, it is a relief when it stops. Don't overdo things just because you feel better, or it may return

We used to have a very unloveable guinea pig. It looked like a toilet brush and I think it had some kind of mental health problems. it squeaked once every 5-10 seconds all day, every day, unless it was asleep. It must have driven the rabbit it lived with absolutely NUTS. After it eventually died of fright in a thunderstorm, the garden seemed very strangely quiet.

KurriKurri · 09/02/2010 14:15

I pleased your pain level is better SR, it sounds as if things have started to heal. Farm shop sounds lovely (makes a note to go to our local one this weekend)

Your DH sounds lovely Pennies. These husbands of ours do come through when it really counts don't they?
Try not to get upset about the MX, allow yourself time to get used to the changes in your body. You'll need a period of adjustment, BCN's are very helpful I've found in helping you come to terms with it all.

The book sounds great MAS. - We had lots of GPs as children (they reproduced!) from what I remember they had very unimaginative names like 'Mummy GP', 'Daddy GP' and 'Ginger GP'
my children are lucky they're not called 'boy' and 'girl'

reallywoundup · 09/02/2010 14:27

car passed nothing- not even new windscreen wipers lol i am however shattered now, will have a snooze while dh collects the kids and takes them to kids club and then takes dd shopping for me!

A lovely mumsnetter gave me a load of gorgeous clothes for dd this morning- and shoes and boots that look barely worn, dd thinks she is Emelda Marcos now! will catch up properly later but need sleep zzzzzzzzzzzz.............
