Revolutionaries of The Shiney Path - The Gorillas In Our Midst Eat Healthily

Welcome to our 22nd Healthy Eating thread under the auspicious eye of Shiney the Cult Leader. She is vegetarian (like a gorilla), but you don't have to be! Or hairy!

I may be getting distracted by my over-cryptic thread title (it is hard when all the obvious ones have been done- fwiw The Shining Path are a South American guerrilla group and I'm looking at watching Che on dvd later, what can I say...), but I have been appointed Tsar With Authority for Titles, and starting this on a Friday night may be ill-judged, BUT...

We are here with the aim of eating healthily, losing weight in varying amounts if that is what we wish, and most of all posting as often as we're able to support each other. We have a good laugh too. Allegedly. But we're no trouble, no siree...

New-comers very welcome, just introduce yourselves and pile in!

I am being good and using the last of my roast chicken in a lovely pasta bake.

Done loads of tidying/hoovering this afternoon, all active walking around stuff so should have burnt some calories.

BewareTheFullMoon · 03/10/2009 19:48

trill have tons to do about house and have been in bed ill. At least my eating habits have been kicked onto the shiney path due to not wanting to eat. Portion size good, rubbish greatly improved. Still lacking fruit and veg in diet but hey ho.

TrillianSlasher · 03/10/2009 19:57

What sort of illing is it? Fruit and veg can help you know.

DreamsInBinary · 03/10/2009 20:00

I've been saintly today, albeit unintentionally.

We went to a birthday party in the morning, where there was lots of fruit but no party rings, so I was good.

We went straight from there to a (childless) friend's bbq. "Oh yeah, bring the kids in the day - it'll be great. X, Y and Z are coming too and we're having a spitroast"

We turned up 30 minutes later than invited and he turned up 30 minutes after that . We left three hours later and the bbq wasn't even on .

Have decided to skip the food and go straight to the wine.

SycamoretreeIsVile · 03/10/2009 20:02

Hello everybody peeps,

Posting in preparation for tomorrow. The big get back on board the diet horse.

However, I have seen my new office. It's a disaster. I've got two other people in with me and my screen faces both of them and my back is to them.

Previously I had my own office, with like, a door, that shut the world out.

How am I going to waste away my hours at work googling, MNetting and internet shopping now??????

Arrgggghhhh.

Salsavita · 03/10/2009 20:11

Syccccccccccccccccccccccc missed ya!

Twill be fine - you never know, they might be google/internet shopping addicts too and will be busy doing their own stuff.

Have you found a family yet?

SycamoretreeIsVile · 03/10/2009 20:17

I MAY have found a family

They only want three days, but everything else they want makes up for it. We can JUST about manage it financially.

MISS YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

FiveGoMadonTheDanceFloor · 03/10/2009 20:20

Salsavita · 03/10/2009 20:21

Are you sharing the office with two other ladies or is it men?

hi syca...

good to see you

SycamoretreeIsVile · 03/10/2009 20:28

OMG Slimeon (loving your halloween work). Have you seen doc etc? Sorry, you have probably posted to death on this (not literally, I hope). Is is the flu of the swine???

Salsa/Five - yes, the live reasonably near (should be a five minute drive). I've had a call to say they are going to arrange a meeting with our nanny and test the commute time in the morning on Monday and then take it from there. I think it will work. I hope.

They want the care to all happen at our house, which is so amazing, because I really didn't want to do shared hosting, but it is the norm with a share as of course, no one wants to the schelp of a morning if they don't have to. They also only want until 5pm which leaves our nanny free to do tea time/bath time with my two without another baba in the mix.

Job - two girls. Slips of things. No kids. Not even remotely.... One who is peeved she didn't get my job.

FiveGoMadonTheDanceFloor · 03/10/2009 20:29

OK two things.

How do you burn boiled eggs.

And hope you get something sorted Shimey. I am sure you will.

SycamoretreeIsVile · 03/10/2009 20:29

Hey DP

Salsavita · 03/10/2009 20:31

Syc, does your nanny live really close too then?

Take some cupcakes in on Monday morning - they will love ya.

daftpunk · 03/10/2009 20:31

no pressure... but we are falling apart without you....

DreamsInBinary · 03/10/2009 20:37

I second DP.

SycamoretreeIsVile · 03/10/2009 20:37

Nah, she lives about 45 mins commute away, but that's so normal for London. I commute that to work everyday, so does everyone just about as the buses, tubes etc take forever.

But nanny just comes to our house every morning and the other little girl is brought by her mum just as you'd drop at a CM's I guess.

DP - ha ha, I am a little bit concerned that my mojo needs a major injection of yo jo jo but I will do my best. You will all at least let me do my first day at my new job, won't you?

Salsa - cupcakes are a fab idea. I will do the Syc specials. Crazy coloured icing and silly sweets on top.

Trill: its a flu/cold temp thingy. On-off fever, terrible ear ache, conjested sinuses nothing that you could put your fingure on and name plus i want a very large padded room for ds today!

Yeah syc! good to see you! Come back and save us from ourselves!

Five: you forget that they are on and they boil dry and burn

Salsavita · 03/10/2009 20:46

Syc - have you got your work outfit sorted out for Monday? Has DH gone/going back to work?

SycamoretreeIsVile · 03/10/2009 20:49

Oh yes, I have new shoes (still hiding in boot of my car as have not confessed them to DH yet ). New trousers (black, gap) and new jumper, grey marl, tarnished brass studs on shoulders (Top Shop).

daftpunk · 03/10/2009 20:51

sounds very smart...

i never look smart...have this natural scruffy hippy look about me...

Salsavita · 03/10/2009 20:52

You will wow them Syc and they will fall in love with you

DreamsInBinary · 03/10/2009 20:53

Yuk, sounds nasty DEM.

Am still reeling from SC's post (and those that followed) this afternoon.

Can't decide who I want to win Strictly. Not sure I'm crazy about any of them, tbh.
