Revolutionaries of The Shiney Path - The Gorillas In Our Midst Eat Healthily

Welcome to our 22nd Healthy Eating thread under the auspicious eye of Shiney the Cult Leader. She is vegetarian (like a gorilla), but you don't have to be! Or hairy!

I may be getting distracted by my over-cryptic thread title (it is hard when all the obvious ones have been done- fwiw The Shining Path are a South American guerrilla group and I'm looking at watching Che on dvd later, what can I say...), but I have been appointed Tsar With Authority for Titles, and starting this on a Friday night may be ill-judged, BUT...

We are here with the aim of eating healthily, losing weight in varying amounts if that is what we wish, and most of all posting as often as we're able to support each other. We have a good laugh too. Allegedly. But we're no trouble, no siree...

New-comers very welcome, just introduce yourselves and pile in!

Offence not taken

Have fun with Cruella. Maybe hand her the Black Dog to babysit for a few hours...see what becomes of it????

TrillianSlasher · 04/10/2009 11:22

DEM is in disguise somewhere too. vampyre is harley (we believe, she hasn't actually told us).

This is why I only do (not-very clever) gentle namechanges. I want people to know who I am!

SickUpGoreAndBleedBile · 04/10/2009 11:24

I've tweaked the Halloween nom change. I think this is better.

Vampyre must be harley because of the tell tale dudes

TrillianSlasher · 04/10/2009 11:30

Good tweak!

VineGruesomeTits · 04/10/2009 11:38

I think SycUpGoreandBleedBile is more recognisable Syc, i think the point of halloween names is to try and incorporate your original name in there somewhere so we still know you iykwim

BiteOfFun · 04/10/2009 11:41

Love the new name, Syc!

I am poorly still too- I felt a bit better last night, but I think that was the drink

I am not a cat fan, but I would like one called Trotsky

TrillianSlasher · 04/10/2009 11:41

I think it makes more sense to sick up gore than to be sick for gore as well

SickUpGoreAndBleedBile · 04/10/2009 11:46

Harumph. Was going for the phonetic recognition but since you ask Vinny, I shall off and oblige.

PS Please help me with a dress for DD on style and beauty, ta.

Get well Bite - what are we all like???

PMSL Slimey!

This is my final change and I'm sicking sticking to it

TrillianSlasher · 04/10/2009 11:49

The pasta bake I made yesterday was:
a - massive (I was aiming for 4 portions but it came out more than 6)
b - not terribly nice - not horrible, just blah

What do I do with it? I'd quite like to chuck it, don't really want to have to eat if for lunches. Annoyed at wasting food that could have been nice if I'd done it properly.

SycsUpGoreAndBleedsBile · 04/10/2009 11:51

Trills last year I was SycUpaTree so I was trying to not to, ahem, repeat myself.

I have come a long way, no?

I was going for Sick for it, as in Mad for it, but yes, Sick Up is much better and you know, last year is so like, last year.

TrillianSlasher · 04/10/2009 12:20

Shiney - you around? Why 'Jesus Christ Syc'?

TrillianSlasher · 04/10/2009 12:33

If you are around you might want to go and lend your support (not that it needs it) to a thread in chat called please read. Not that it needs massive amount of support, there seem to be plenty of people who've had misgivings. I've posted my mantra for upsetting threads.

Personally I was going to go and tell them off for such an uninformative title

VineGruesomeTits · 04/10/2009 13:03

Trills where is the thread that is mentioned in that thread? can you give a hint to what it is called? or fb me?

hellsbelles · 04/10/2009 13:29

trillianslasher - I'm so glad someone has put this. I'm pretty new to MN but this particular thread just rung so many alarm bells. It reminded me of another one when I first came on board that was about domestic abuse.... I cannot understand the mentality but also am aware that if someone needs to do this they obviously need help. Just not in this way (if that makes sense?).

TrillianSlasher · 04/10/2009 13:32

I think MN has been useful to a number of people in abusive (physically or mentally) relationships - in terms of letting people know that what they are experiencing is not normal, not acceptable, and that they can leave it behind if they choose to. But of course any situation is open to highjacking by those who simply want attention. I donhink I've been around long enough or experienced enough of life to call troll on any thread, which is why I try not to get involved.

FlamingoBingo · 04/10/2009 13:35

Hello

Leaping right back in without catching up as I am putting off posting here again because of being daunted about all I've missed. So hard to get back into it even with a break of just a few days!

VineGruesomeTits · 04/10/2009 13:35

I have had a read of the thread in question, its heartbreaking, i am sitting on the fence on this one as i couldn't be 100 % sure that the poster is not for real

hellsbelles · 04/10/2009 13:38

So is there a magic secret anyone can share on the weight loss quest or is everyone trying different things? I did the South Beach diet a few years back...I know it's probably terribly dangerous but it worked amazingly for me. It was like a flesh eating bug....the fat literally disappeared (though I had horrid breath and even worse temper for the first 2 weeks). And I kept it off for ages. It's taken a huge effort to get this fat again (puddings after lunch and dinner - with biscuits in between).

But I'm BF at the moment so really can't do the South Beach again (I'm sure it's not good for milk production?).

My current cunning plan is to wear unflattering clothes in an attempt to disgust myself. I have a pin head and relatively slim legs (relative to my fat gut that is)...so up till now haven't really looked fat if I wear clothes that aren't fitted round the middle. Which means i have people saying 'oh you don't need to diet' - which is bollocks - they just can't see the layers of glob hanging over my jeans.

I'm very excited because I've found a pair of hugely unflattering cords in Gap (they fully accentuate my massive arse and my tummy literally folds over the top. Combined with a tightish jersey top I look gross).

So glob is now on display which will surely help? If I can see the pity in peoples eyes I figure that will spur me on. I have about a stone and a half to lose. Urghhhhh...

shiney

hellesbells - I like your thinking! However, I find that the better I look, the more I'm spurred on to lose more weight.

I calorie count and exercise.

hellsbelles · 04/10/2009 13:44

I totally agree that as a newcomer I wouldn't feel confident in highlighting a fake thread. It could cause so much damage if I got it wrong.

But it is so difficult when you want to sympathise (which I did at first) and then feel yourself being sucked into something unreal...which is emotionally draining. Especially if you have experienced a loss yourself. As you say Trillian - better to stay out of ir when unsure.

Better go get DD fed...I've been MNing too long.

VineGruesomeTits · 04/10/2009 13:52

Any word from mnhq on this slimey?
