To my shame it's about my 167th attempt to quit fags... anyone out there trying the same who would like to start a support thingie here where we can rant and vent our frustrations and praise each other? I'm starting tomorrow...
heres the first post by FG...
So it was a while ago! Id already been trying for AGES befor ethat, but knowing there was other people in the same boat EVENTUALLY got me to here. Dp failed his attempt, man didnt turn up to fix his windscreen so he had a fag....its laughable from the other side but I know that crazy logic well.

It rained...I smoked.
Its sunny...I smoked.
The car wouldnt start...I smoked.
The bus was late...I smoked.
I was late...I smoked.
The cat shit...I smoked.
The sun was out...I had to smoke.
I had a beer...I had to smoke.
etc
etc etc etc

fionagib · 16/06/2005 21:07

Oh cc you're so right! And for most of this year I have been a non smoker. Watched runners in a 6 mile race go right past my house this eve and, part from a dicky knee, I'd have been running too if it weren't for the odd sly chuff. It makes you feel so crap, doesn't it.

Sorry to hear about your dp's lapse too cc, he'll get there eventually....

Hols in 2 weeks, so will be clean from now on - you've shamed me, cc by re-posting that post from last aug!!!!!

How are you coping mml?

i think the good thing is that i havent been on this thread half as much whimpering " i need a fag nowwwwww" i dont thnk about fags for at least half an hour in the morning and that really makes me pleased as at one point i was dreaming about them.

charliecat · 16/06/2005 21:51

Sweating all night I would say is definetly due to stopping smoking, I remember going through it. Dont think I had the cold/flu symptoms....but I do know a lot of other folks have said they feel like shit, and Mr Carr says the only symptoms are flu like the rest is in the mind.
honestly a few months down the line and you wont even think about fags. promise you ...this is the hell before the paradise...seriously.

Tortington · 16/06/2005 22:34

when you say a few months - can you be specific - i need to cling onto something - am on wk 2. if you said 1 month that would be good.

charliecat · 16/06/2005 22:35

In 1 month you will be feeling free-er..in 2 months you will be floating, in 3 you will fly...ok?

charliecat · 16/06/2005 22:37

And in 6, the knowledge that you have stayed away from the weed for 6 months will give you daily orgasms

charliecat · 16/06/2005 22:38

(or the giggles at the shit you write on MN)

Tortington · 16/06/2005 22:43

lmfao - WHAT an incentive!!!!!!!!

Some vitamins? Lots of water? Are you drinking loads of coffee? there something to do wiht caffinene and nicotine...like the nicotine make sht ecaffine less so when you stop smoking the caffene has more of an effect or som, ethiing like that. you will feel better soon, cant say when but you will xxx

starshaker · 17/06/2005 08:41

Not overly, it really probably is the beer and the non smoking, what does everyone esle think? The EFFORT thats going into your not smoking is immense, as well as the usual pressures of life.

LOL..are you planning on drinking that each day every day? If so i dont think its that good for you(says the baileys/vodka addict) but if its a short term tactic to get you throught the next few weeks thats fine. And from what ive read on some threads on MN some folks get through a sight lot more than that...so your ok!
