For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Yes, there's one of those here too! However Nialls and Frasier went to Waterstone's and then went to look at the books in WH Smiths. Then they pushed the boat out a bit and decided to live a little, and they went to get a milkshake. God I love them.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/06/2009 16:38

pmsl @ Nialls and Frasier

Game in our town is always packed to the brim with computer geeks (my dh included) and it always has a certain pubescent smell about it.

ahundredtimes · 26/06/2009 16:42

The absolute nicest most patient and tolerant are the ones playing war hammer in Games Workshop ime. They give their absolute attention to answering an 11 y-o's questions - this is because they care.

Guadalupe · 26/06/2009 16:51

Ds1 hangs around HMV and the skater shop discussing ball bearings and -7's or something.
Then he buys himself a cornish pasty.

Dh is still in London at a salvo fair and I am supposed to be going out for japanese tonight. He better get a move on.

mollyroger · 26/06/2009 17:38

I have picked a tonne of dstrawberries on t'allotment and have made scones to go with them...

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2009 18:12

oh yes the people who run the gaming evening in the hall after me, are absolutely fab with the young children
they obviously get great satisfaction from explaining the finer points of yu gi oh and how many dice rolls you have to do to get a magic axe for your troll
but one of them told me once that lots of children who come to the games club are bullied at school, and that it's the first time they have made friends and got some kudos - for being good at nerdy roleplaying games
it's a lovely thing really

but i want nialls and frasier for my sons
that would be just right for me, we could go to the bookshop together and then have lunch in a little bistro or out to the theatre or something
instead i get a football and weapon freak plus probably another in training
i want my money back

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2009 18:16

that can't be how you spell nialls surely
niles?
god that looks wrong also

i think i have got the likely lads for sons instead of the crane bros
they have spent the afternoon crawling round the park getting so muddy that a bath was essential
it was v nice actually and so was the bath [beam]

i appear to have volunteered to test squeezy jam
i vaguely remember signing up for this - i think must have been on a blood sugar low

I had a boyfriend once who was a card-carrying ubernerd, he was into all that Games Workshop stuff. I think it's true that children that otherwise get picked on are attracted to it, then they meet like minded folks and feel more included. Certainly true of ex=bf anyway. I must admit, I did rather like painting the little lead figures, I did a dwarf with stripy purple trousers which I was particularly proud of. I could never get into those role playing games though

I haven't been eating too well recently. I had a good week followed by a bad one. I am blaming the weather, which by all accounts is getting hotter next week. How lovely.

TigerFeet · 26/06/2009 18:26

According to wikipedia it's Niles

Squeezy jam. Great for food fights

Boco · 26/06/2009 18:42

I had a job making those little figures once. Was bloody hard - they're tiny. I'd spend weeks on one 'woman with thigh boots and axe' to be told 'can you make her breasts larger?'. I got too frustrated with it in the end, but I do wonder if any of my little people are still out there, playing games.

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2009 18:47

the most deliciously attractive man i have ever known was into those little figures
when he was 17 he used to show them to me to try to impress me
unfortunately i was ancient much older and it was just freaky

Quite a few of ds's friends are into these and sometimes he wants to get them one for a birthday or something.

I stand there bewildered by the seemingly identical looking packets and then someone arises from the scorched grass of a citadel and says can I help you, before looking weary as I know I want some type of space marine but cannot remember which one and there are millions.

TigerFeet · 26/06/2009 18:57

I rather suspect they are Boco . I'm rather impressed that you made them, some of them are incredibly detailed and intricate. They are miniature works of art. Even after some talentless science student has slapped purple paint all over them.

I was in my early/mid 20's. I would go into the shop with him to buy stuff and would feel old and haggard. A bit like when I go into certain pubs these days.

ahundredtimes · 26/06/2009 18:57

lol. You see, it's some dreadful social experiment. I'm all 'oh dress up as a pirate / soldier / here have a gun' and I get the Cranes. Though I think ds2's days are numbered. It really is ds1's idea of a good time to peruse the shelves and check on the latest stock order in Teen Fiction, ds2 returned looking a bit flushed with a packet of Haribo sticking out his pocket.

How do you get a job like that then Boco? DS1 tried it, he found it frustrating.

mollyroger · 26/06/2009 18:58

ds1 loves the wee figures but he wants to play with them his way, not the same way as everyone else...lol, even Warhammer is too organised for him

mollyroger · 26/06/2009 19:00

he got made to stay in at playtime today for organising a hat revolution - he persuaded his posse to all come in wearing their porkpie hats.
wipes silly --smirk- from face

TigerFeet · 26/06/2009 19:01

I am going to delay the daily bedtime battle trauma insanity routine by doing the ironing.

Oh the glamour.

ahundredtimes · 26/06/2009 19:02

lol did he? He's got style, we love him.

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2009 19:02

my graze box arrived
was pineapple - again
sunshine fruit mix which was nice enough
and dairy free chocolate beans (ie duff smarties)
i think the love affair is waning slightly

ahundredtimes · 26/06/2009 19:03

there is a house near my allotment where bohemian young men have been congregating to play their guitars outside in the sunshine recently . I really really want to invite myself in to listen. I suspect the sight of a 40-yr-old with muddy feet smiling encouragingly and saying brightly ''golly, what lovely musicians you all are. Now, are those roll-your-owns or is it some of that Mary-hoo-ana?'' would stop them immediately.
Perhaps you should try it?
