For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Ahem. I am a bit overwhelmed.

ILTMIMI, hope lemur goes to sleep. One needs one's evenings, doesn't one?

Sorry, I am a bit doo lalally tonight.

FrayedKnot · 23/06/2009 19:47

It's not a good time of year for settling little ones to bed, is it?

Light and hot.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/06/2009 19:48

he is asleep

FrayedKnot · 23/06/2009 19:49

Nicki how long is it likely to be before you can move? I'm very excited for you!

Ds and his friend have made a dirt track all over the pavement with compost

I need to go and sweep it up shortly..

FrannyandZooey · 23/06/2009 19:57

ds1 can't sleep
ds2 was asleep but now isn't

i spent an hour trying to buy ds2 a sunhat as i had lost it
hardly any in the shops - all summer stuff being sold off cheap - nothing in his size
"we DID have them, but not NOW"
oh no silly of me to expect you to have them NOW when IT IS SUMMER

best was in monsoon
"have you any hats other than these?"
"we're not allowed to get any more children's hats out till friday"
"pardon???"
"we're doing a stocktake - we're not allowed to get anything more out till friday. come back friday."

pointydog · 23/06/2009 20:00

congrats on house business. What a relief

mollyroger · 23/06/2009 20:10

oh Franny shops make me want to scream! I remember trying to by a child's swimming trunks in August and being told they only had autumn winter stock in now, actually.

Nicky - whooop! How very exciting, especially in this climate. Good luck with it all.

asparagus
sweetcorn

raspberries
pineapple
veggie soup
strawberries (homegrown so double points )

I have dozens of succulent artichockes growing. Does anybody know how to tell when they are ready....?

nickytwotimes · 23/06/2009 20:32

We move in mid-August, at the end of dh's summer hols. He is a teacher and we live in Scotland.

This also means that ds will be starting nursery for the first time 3 days after moving house... not ideal! Am not going to go mad withthe potty training for now...

littlerach · 23/06/2009 20:45

Well doen Nicky

pinkspottywellies · 23/06/2009 20:50

I'M GOING TO VISIT MY PIG [GRIN]

Sorry for shouting but I didn't want anyone to miss it! If anyone's in Norfolk the weekend after next and wants to come meet Flossie I'll see you there.

Rubbish f&v today. Well I say rubbish, 8 or 9. But none at lunchtime, well salad garnish. And a bit of trampolining.

FrannyandZooey · 23/06/2009 20:52

oh hurrah it is nice up there pink
give her a pat from me

FrannyandZooey · 23/06/2009 20:57

apple

i need focus. and a new brain. and a slave personal assistant
ds1's teenage babysitter has got sand all over the house
AGAIN
i said very pointedly before i left "now ds IF you come in the house after playing in the sand you MUST take your shoes off first"
i didn't actually feel i could say "this means YOU AS WELL TEENAGE BABYSITTER" but i would have thought she would get the hint
and she has gone home with the back door key

FrannyandZooey · 23/06/2009 20:58

ds2 is still awake
he is sitting in his vest in the middle of the floor waving a fairy wand
he looks quite delicious but i wish he would go to sleep and look delicious asleep

pinkspottywellies · 23/06/2009 20:59

Good news about the house Nicky!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/06/2009 21:02

I need FOCUS and a cleaner. I dream of having a cleaner. I can't keep our house tidy and clean at the moment, nevermind when it has doubled in size. I'm going to be a slave to my mop. Apart from I won't be so the house will be a slum.

Haven't seen Boco for a while. I hope her dp is ok.

Baby's summer hats have sold out here too. Although I don't know why I bother. It stays on for all of 5 seconds. The putting it on over and over again drives me loopy. I get angry, then I get stressy as Baby Lemur has hardly any hair.

I think I need to calm down.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/06/2009 21:04

Oh Pink, enjoy seeing your pig.

Where do you live if you don't mind me asking? You don't have to answer that, or you can answer in code if you want to remain incognito.

ahundredtimes · 23/06/2009 21:10

I have been on and off here all day. I am annoying myself.

Also - Franny, someone, talk sense to me. Nicely.

dd is going to a v. nice sounding party tomorrow, they are having tea in the tree house and a water slide and will all be lovely. And she has packed these old clothes of ds2's to wear. Like proper boys shorts and a hideous t-shirt. And I am saying, 'well, how about this instead?' and she is adamant about the boy's clothes. I am biting my lip. I'm not suggesting she wears a DRESS fgs.

I feel disproportionately upset about it. Which is mad isn't it? I know it's mad. Why? is my question.

Nicky - hurrah on the house

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/06/2009 21:12

Maybe it is as simple as she's not wanting to wear what YOU would like her to wear. A control thing. Meant in the nicest possible way of course

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/06/2009 21:14

Has anyone on here read Wetlands?

Gawd blimey, I am getting an education I tell you.
