For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I don't know really. I had already called her out the night before and it all stopped, and then the next day when I went into hospital I didn't feel like her being there. So I didn't ring her. She phoned the next day and said how are things and I said, it's a boy.

I still paid of course, and she was very nice about it.

FrannyandZooey · 18/06/2009 16:54

it was lemonbalm tea which is what she asked for, from a sizeable selection i will have you know, including ORDINARY tea which i did offer as well

and the cup was BRAND NEW
no-one had ever drunk from it
i bought it for the next time HC comes to visit, because she only likes to drink from mugs that no-one else has drunk from, and my mother went and drunk from the last one i bought for her when i was out
oh this whole cup thing is rife with difficulty
do you think i can give that cup to HC if she visits again? i mean, no-one has REALLY drunk out of it have they
or do i have to say "look i think my homeopath might have sniffed some minging tea in here and / or possibly sipped it, but then she left it"
it wouldn't go down well would it

FrannyandZooey · 18/06/2009 16:56

ds2 has been playing with an old crust he found down the side of the fridge, and an empty milk carton, for about 20 mins
i can't decide which is worse, the fact that i didn't notice for 10 mins, or the fact that i let him carry on after i spotted it

Guadalupe · 18/06/2009 17:01

and, SB, one of the reasons I wanted a doula was because dh and I were having a tricky time at the beginning of the pregnancy. Towards the end things improved massively and I suppose when it came to it I only wanted him there after all. Then we got married. I think it was in that order.

Franny dirt crusts are good. Flora building.

FrannyandZooey · 18/06/2009 17:05

i don't think he has been eating it much
he's just been doing that charming "putting it in and out while concentrating very hard and looking serious" thing

SuperBunny · 18/06/2009 17:07

Who's HC? She should bring her own mug. I wouldn't buy a brand new much for someone every time they visit.

pointydog · 18/06/2009 17:36

I am too behind to catch up. But it seems boco's dp has swine flu - gosh! Apparently, someone is undergoing tests for it at dh's work.

fran, a doula and a homeopath? Cripes.

Guadalupe · 18/06/2009 17:44

I don't think it's swine flu is it? Wasn't Boco joking?

Boco - how much sushi did we share at the meet-up?

TooTicky · 18/06/2009 17:46

I can't drink out of mugs that smell of milk.

OP posts:
pointydog · 18/06/2009 17:49

oh not swine flu, goodo

SuperBunny · 18/06/2009 17:51

How is he Boco? I was wondering last night when I couldn't sleep.

Surely if you are given a clean mug, it won't smell like milk? I thought I was quite picky about mugs but having seen this discussion, I think I am decidedly easy to please.

A group of American friends once had a tea party at our book group, in my honor. They proudly plonked down a tray with an assortment of mugs and tea bags. Then they poured the water on and it seemed to have boiled about half an hour before. They were all so excited about proving tea for a Brit that I didn't have the heart to tell them they had made it all wrong and that you really need boiling water. Ah well.

Ex's mother will only drink out of pale coloured mugs so that she can spot the dirt. She also frequently bleaches her mugs.

FrannyandZooey · 18/06/2009 17:54

LOL i don't buy a new mug every time - my mother just buggered up the last one by drinking out of it
and she will drink out of other cups if she has to but i like her very much and so i like to indulge her
oh and it is harpsichordcarrier
but she hasn't visited for ages and ages

TooTicky · 18/06/2009 18:01

Mugs in village halls and churches invariably smell of milk.

Has she left MN. I haven't seen her about for ages. It's a funny place, is MN. Oldies popping up again & all.

mollyroger · 18/06/2009 18:03

I have stripey mugs of happiness

SuperBunny · 18/06/2009 18:05

TooT, I think I'd take to carrying my own wherever I went. I remember spending time at folk festivals when I was little and beardy men with their very own special beer mug hooked onto their backpack with a carabina. Carabiner. Sp?

SuperBunny · 18/06/2009 18:05

Molly, I remember your fairy cakes with stripes to match your mugs!

mollyroger · 18/06/2009 18:14

I now have matching teapot, milkjug and sugarbowl

Guadalupe · 18/06/2009 18:15

I only drink out of white mugs.

Dh's mother used to give me the 20 year old black Mars Bar one that dh had got with an easter egg every bloody time just to spite me.

Guadalupe · 18/06/2009 18:18

On the inside that is. I don't care if the outside has leopard print or says Bradford and Bingley, if it's not white on the inside the tea looks like gnat's piss.

pointydog · 18/06/2009 18:23

I'm a bit funny about mugs. Those old crappy promotional mugs or Best Mum ones put me right off a cuppa.

However, the boho alternative of many varied small rustic pottery mugs is starting to grate too.

TooTicky · 18/06/2009 18:28

I can't believe I am partaking in a conversation about mugs of all things.

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 18/06/2009 18:31

mugs are as good a thing as any to talk about
i have a special large mug which is my mug and i don't give it to anyone else
it's not a drinking out of someone else's mug thing, it's just....my mug
i am getting too embarrassed to go on that thread about forcing children to share any more
every time someone posts about selfish children i think "oh god that is ME"

TooTicky · 18/06/2009 18:32

Franny, you do not live surrounded by them.

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 18/06/2009 18:36

however my mother is even barkinger
she has PARTICULAR MUGS FOR THE TIME OF DAY
and for certain drinks
eg if you offer to make her a cup of tea she will say "hmm well it is 4 pm and i would like coffee so I'll have it in the 'Head Gardener' mug"

this is at her own house btw
if she did that at my house i would be REALLY hmm
but going through the cupboard at my house to find the nicest cleanest mug (HC's one) was a bit over the mark as well in my non sharing type of opinion
