For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

High Fives Toot..you are awesome!! 7 litle buggers darlings!!!

It is raining and I am glad. I have house stuff to do and want a 'quiet' weekend. I have only just got up .

Sorry about your day yesterday Franny, I hate days like that.

I think there should be a 'vote of no confidence' box on ballot slips, to encourage people who are disillusioned by the system, but don't want to not vote out of principle (me!). And it SHOULD BE SECRET!!!!!!!!

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 06/06/2009 10:48

Ooohh...another charity shop fan..

Why about rain LR...and hello!

Guadalupe · 06/06/2009 12:27

Have found a spot at the back of the barn where we can steal the owners internet but it's a bit flaky. It's raining but so beautiful here, right at the bottom of the black mountains, and there is a welcome box of eggs, sausages, bacon, cakes, milk, apple juice, and the sheep are milling around. Nothing like getting away to put things in persective, I think you can just stagnate staying in the same place all the time. DD said, mummy, there seems to be a car in the sheep area.

Have tried to skim back, sorry to all those feeling stressed, depressed, hungry, disappointed or just a general malaise. Anyone would think eating so much fruit and veg was bad for you.

Right, to a farm shop. There is one down the road that looks lovely, they sell all their own meat no doubt there is some good cheese there too.

FrannyandZooey · 06/06/2009 12:43

well i find it quite depressing that i spent 11 years protecting him from everything. Everything! Including sodding Tom and Jerry cartoons.....!
but in the last 6 months he has gone from 11.5years to 15years.
And he is so reasonable and intelligent and hunourous and did I mention intelligent? He can run rings round me in terms of reasonable argument and discussion. And ''Because I say so!'' was never really ever in my parenting artillary.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 06/06/2009 15:43

I liked your Terminator 4 and coke in a baby bottle analogy, it really made me laugh.

I quite fancy seeing the film. I loved the first one, but not the other two. I also love Christian Bale.

FrannyandZooey · 06/06/2009 17:07

is there a film on that a very sheltered 6 year old would like? we just discovered that ds1 thought that children under 8 were not allowed in the cinema
(i fear i may have contributed to this at some point)
and we are guilty enough to think perhaps we should take him
it is so loud though isn't it? he could not handle anything scary really - and most films seem so casually scary and violent
is there something?

FrannyandZooey · 06/06/2009 17:10

we just went to a magic show and surprise surprise the bloke got dp on stage
this happens quite regularly
it was his turn though as they last got me up to dance like kylie when i was pg with ds2
this time he had to wear a pig hat, a pink apron and put his head in a guillotine
ds hated every minute
"it's NOT funny mummy"
and nearly fainted re: the guillotine bit
but was given a balloon sword at the end which redeemed matters

pointydog · 06/06/2009 17:21
orange juice grapes cucumber more grapes houmus carrots
  1. terminator 4 - what rating? Was Arnie in them? I have never been able to watch Arnie due to poor acting rather than horror factor
  1. lol @ fran's ds not liking the magic show. SOund slike your dp hated it more though
pointydog · 06/06/2009 17:21

guada, where are you?

FrannyandZooey · 06/06/2009 17:25

ds liked the rest of the show but he hates it when me or dp get dragged up to join in
when they got me on stage at the circus he couldn't look at me afterwards as he was so disgusted
dp was indifferent to it
he has had to wear wigs and sing like elvis, lie down while acrobats crawl on him, and god knows what in the past

SuperBunny · 06/06/2009 17:33

I'd hate to go up on stage. I dread things like that.

Guad's barn sounds lovely.

pointydog · 06/06/2009 17:43

dh was dragged up into an open air comedy act last summer. The dds hooted, in an almost cruel way. Your ds's reaction is most loyal asnd admirable.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 06/06/2009 17:54

SB! How are you?

ds2 may like Night at the Museum 2 (it's a PG)? Once the museum is closed the exhibits come alive and it's up to the night watchman to keep them under control.

I know what you mean about it being loud though. I sometimes sit there and cower because of the volume, but I think it's because I've got sensitive hearing.

I don't think Arnie is in Terminator 4, and I think Molly said it was a 12.

SuperBunny · 06/06/2009 18:04

I'm ok, Lemur

Bananas (2)

SuperBunny · 06/06/2009 18:12

Should have asked how you are too, lemur . How are you?

mollyroger · 06/06/2009 18:41

I like to move it and pointy - it was a 12.

Franny, my friend says Horton Hears A Who is fantastic animation and is very much a U. Is on at Odeon for Kids Club at the moment.

There will be some garage disney suitable films duirng the summer hols, I'd have thouht.

DS wants to see Star Trek film, next.

Franny there is a very good go through the film for parent advisory info . Sadly I dscovered it after ds had seen Terminator 4

IMDB

for example Night at Museum 2

mollyroger · 06/06/2009 18:44

I have no idea why that was so garbled

Off to friend's house tonight for belated birthday fun. We are having one of our famous Curryoke nights with Singstar

I a having spinach, tomato, chickpea curry

avacdo

Strawberries
Mushrooms
Spinach
Onion
Chickpeas
Orange Juice

SuperBunny · 06/06/2009 18:53

UP is the new Pixar film, just out here. Looks ok and people have said it is very good. Might be a bit scary for a sensitive type.

I was at work last week and one families were showing their 2 yr old Tom & Jerry. The boy LOVED it but my friend's 4 yr old was shocked and quite terrified. I think it is quite scary. And seems to be just a little bit racist too. I had never noticed that before.

SuperBunny · 06/06/2009 18:54

Curryoke

ahundredtimes · 06/06/2009 18:58

I think not Nights at the Museum for Fra's ds. I think it'll scare him. Also if he hasn't been to the cinema then he needs to see something good the first time, so he gets why it's such a valuable and entertaining and interesting way to tell stories. IMO.

That might be a challenge on the other hand. DS1 was fantastically intense about films for ages - actually he was fantastically intense about everything. I never got it quite right. We once stood outside the Odeon for about half an hour while he sobbed having seen Piglet: The Movie. He was moved beyond belief by Piglet's journey to find his 'family'. He was probably about 7 at the time. (He also burst into tears during Snow White when he was younger, and when I asked him why he was crying he sobbed, 'I've never seen a dwarf so happy.' )

ahundredtimes · 06/06/2009 19:00

Also i am in that 1% Guad with you - I stained the wood floor dark in the sitting-room. Looks v. nice, I am confident in that 1% weirdo staining floors dark bracket.

Your holiday sounds great. I agree about getting away and getting perspective.
