For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello lemur.....

DS has refused to go to school completely since wednesday.. The school refuses to acknowledge there is really a problem and questioned my parenting (very nicely..).

He has an appointment with camhs today. He wants me to home ed... because he 'knows it all'! I like the 'idea' but Nooooooo.... he is impossible I would go madder than I already am. Actually, apparently I am not mad, or going mad, the mental health team think I am depressed because of long term stresss and need to 'talk'. And do some CBT. I made a complete fool of myself and alternately sobbed and laughed for 1 1/2 hrs.

Anyway..onwards and upwards. DS is lovely when it is just me and him so we will have a nice morning in town.

I am not ignoring peoples posts, just not enough time in life to read at the moment but I hope you are all OK. and if not, I am sorry.

Determined that by my 40th birthday I will have taken a small but substantial step forward.

TooTicky · 05/06/2009 08:34

Good morning Lemur and Mits

Dd2 got up for a wee at 10 past 1 and I sort of couldn't sleep after that.
I did see a deer though!!

I am borrowing a toddler all day today, then this evening I am babysitting 3 children, plus I will have my 4, until after midnight.

eek! Toots! That sounds, erm, fun.

my ds is undergoing an extrmely important rite of passge tonight. He and 3 of his friends are attempting to pass as 12 (to be fair they are are only 5 months' off....) in order to gain entrance to a fil at Odeon.
I am extrmely amused at whole thing ; much tryng on of trilbys and different - but all black - shirts and ''do I look older in this or this.
I firmly suspect they will be turned away.
In whcihc case they are all coming back to ours for pizza and larking around. Oh joy.

MW - I'm hardly surpised tou are depressed after everything you have coped with in the past 18 months.
Do you feel better for knowing it is 'just' depression?
I empathise over ds. Mine is saying: ''ok, apart from the legality bit, just tell me 1 good reason why I need to go to school between now and July.''

Guadalupe · 05/06/2009 09:07

Toot - you are quite often looking after other people's babies aren't you? Have you ever thought about being a childminder? Might be a good way to earn some money while being at home with dcs.

I have made brownies but they are too runny. Dh says gooey is good but there's a bit of difference between gooey and raw batter isn't there.

I still haven't packed. And I'm driving.

FrannyandZooey · 05/06/2009 09:24

abysmal start to day but am determined it will get better

Guadalupe · 05/06/2009 09:39

why?

TooTicky · 05/06/2009 10:37

Childminder?
No no, once dd2 is at school I am doing something that involves no nappies or sticky fingers!!

I have just phoned the RSPCA about a cow that is stuck in the canal. Apparently it has been there since last night!!

What's up Franny?

Apple
grapes
tomato
lettuce
avocado

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 05/06/2009 12:17

Apparently DS needs to learn to cope with being called a 'MotherFucker' and a 'knobhead'.......I knew calling him 'sweetheart' and 'gorgeous boy' was a mistake

Thanks Molly.. it is actually reassuring that people think it has been tough rather than my complete inability to cope.

Your DS and friends made me smile...they are so ace.

I put Lippy on this morning for the first time in ages and he said (DS) 'but mum, you are awful priddy with out it'...awwww I nearly forgave him everything

You OK Franny? I have a non-'that word' mango I can post to you if it would make you feel better.

I am so hungry I could eat China..

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 05/06/2009 12:38

And sorry, yes Molly, It does feel better, also that in the long term, If I get things sorted as best possible, I might actually be able to have a sense of 'normality', rather than thinking I have depression as a long term thing which I have to learn to live/cope with.

mollyroger · 05/06/2009 12:43

[non expert emoticon] it sounds like reactive depression, rather than clinical, so hopefully you will get your groove back quickly when (not if!) things sort themselves out more. I am quite good on depression and you are doing all the right things - regular excercise, healthy eating (ignores red bull) talking to people...
Are you sleeping ok?

TooTicky · 05/06/2009 12:57

"needs to learn to cope with being called a 'MotherFucker' and a 'knobhead'" ????!!!!

Ffs.

pinkspottywellies · 05/06/2009 15:09

Ooh congrats on nails Moll. DH is quitting biting atm. He's building a lego town to keep his hands occupied! Maybe he'd go for falsies

Graze has come!!! Exellent box. Cherries, limon chello mix and granola seed mix. I'm going out for dinner tonight. With grown ups so eating at 8.30 instead of 5! I'm going to have my graze box at tea time when I'll be starving!

Also toms, carrots, pear, raisins, cuc, celery.

Sorry to hear about ds troubles Mits. It'll all come right.

Does SB have any definites yet?

Guadalupe · 05/06/2009 15:35

Enjoy your dinner, Pink. Grze box sounds nice. I have delayed next weeks as I am away. In fact we are about to leave. Goodbye!

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 05/06/2009 16:15

OH, i don't know whether to laugh or cry, one of the girls from DS's school had written to him saying she is sorry that he is not at school and that she doesnt know why he is the only one that is being picked on,

It backs up his story, I don't want to get her involved but I could hug her.[smile

Molly.....I found a nail kit that does amazing things for nails as I don't have much luck with them and really enjoy them. Simple pleasures but it is nice to have decent nails at the moment. I think Almond Oil is one of the ingredients that nourishes them..

mollyroger · 05/06/2009 16:36

oh bless her Mits

pointydog · 05/06/2009 17:10

good luck with teh CBT, bishi, and hope it helps.

How old is your ds again?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/06/2009 17:41

Have a good holiday Guad

I got cherries, yoghurt covered peanuts and a dried pineapple, raisin and pecan mix. Twas lush.

Hugs to you and ds Mits.

Baby Lemur keeps grunting, I think he's doing it when he wee's. Am tempted to try him with a potty. Please note I am not a potty training loon who is obsessed with getting them dry by 12 months. I don't even really know what I'm doing tbh.

Our new garden furniture arrived today - hurrah
The weather has taken a turn - bloody typical.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 05/06/2009 18:36

Pointy.. DS is now 11, we have been trying to get to the bottom of this for sometime.

Sadly there are massive home issues behind his problems as well, so it is taking some untangling.

DD has a tank of baby frogs and has named them. 'Lucky' died, so DS said 'well he wasn't so lucky then was he?'

I can't remember potty training.

Franny are you OK? I hope your day improved.

Same old, same old as far as F and V are concerned, about 8 though.

FrannyandZooey · 05/06/2009 18:44

oh you lucky swine all got cherries how come we early weekers got grapes?

oh the morning wasn't that abysmal i suppose, i was over dramatising as usual
just an annoying problem with ds1 wanting to come and wake ds2 up, on (of course) the day that ds2 was particularly tired and absolutely needed to not be woken up
this went on in hushed whispers and enraged hissing for about an hour and 10 mins
with me bfing ds2 back to sleep every 3 mins when ds1 decided to stomp in, or out, or cry, or whisper, or just generally frustle about

i then decided we were ABSOLUTELY going out for the day
which worked quite well until the end when it all unravelled in the library, as these things do - culminated in me finding i had run out of cotton wool in the changing bag just as ds2 had done the kind of poo that goes up to their armpits, and yet more HISSING at poor ds1 "NO WE ARE NOT BORROWING ANOTHER ASTERIX BOOK WILL YOU LISTEN TO ME PLEASE THE LAST ONE GAVE YOU NIGHTMARES"

all taking place in front of some nice woman who comes to my groups

the best bit was going to a group in the local hall
we arrived and i realised
a) i had come on the wrong day was at the wrong group
b) i was half an hour early
c) the organisers are MORE nice women who come to my groups and doubtless think i am a fuckwit when i said "ooh is it not La Leche League?"

ds1 and i managed to help ourselves to all the snacks NOT AT THE PROPER DESIGNATED TIME
then i forgot to sign in
then i just basically behaved like a sleep deprived twat for the rest of the day
but ANYWAY
we are all still alive and ds2 ate pasta for the first time (he usually hates it) and for some reason i gave him a big blob of butter to eat off the high chair with his hands (he was waving, and yelling for it) so we will have a good trial of whether dairy products do anything bad for him
dp just looked on in resignation at my bizarreness of Butter Led Weaning
and the state of the sitting room
and the state of the kitchen

but i did cook a stonking dinner

right
apologies for huge dull incontinent post

FrannyandZooey · 05/06/2009 18:46

Lemur i am not a potty training loon either
but potty training babies is so fun
do try it
shall i point you at BE's blog? or some other stuff on the web?

mollyroger · 05/06/2009 18:53

oh franzo, what a trying ol' day
at east your twatishness is only due to sleep deprivation. Some of us do not have that excuse...
Hope you get some gooood goood sleep in
