For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

It was lovely here too, Pointy, until 15 mins ago and is now v cloudy.

But a good forecast for week.
And dh has time off too.

pointydog · 22/05/2009 18:54

no mid-term here so I do not want to hear of fun trips. I might stay away next week as you will all be eating carrots on beAches in the sun or some such

mollyroger · 22/05/2009 18:55

just ordered a graze box - first one due on y birthday

Guadalupe · 22/05/2009 19:20

Pointy, that sounds rude.

I won't do blue for the table bacause I am not buying colours especially for it iyswim. It is being painted as a bonus thanks to sample pots. Much more important to get the colour of the kitchen right!

sorkycakey · 22/05/2009 19:36

I have 4 kids, youngest is 13 weeks old

nickytwotimes · 22/05/2009 19:56

Hello.
Haven't posted for over a week so I thought I'd say hello adn list.
Btw, I will not be going away over the holiday weekend/week so I'll be here too.
Been on the cross trainer 3-4 days a week and noticing a difference. Back pain not so bad and I have lost a bit of weight. Been fruit and vegging like mad too. It is helping me focus at this ridiculously stressful time. Things have been horrendous this week, but a bit better tonight, so anyway..

'k then, sorry Franny

< shuffles off to the Pit before Franny chucks her there>

What did you think of his comeback? I must admit I wasn't a fan and hadn't really given him or The Smiths a chance, until he 'came back'.
A good friend of mine, who worships him, felt a bit disappointed initially with his return. She felt he'd gone a bit mainstream.

sorkycakey · 22/05/2009 20:20

that sling is gorgeous!

where from?

FrannyandZooey · 22/05/2009 20:33

oh i think his comeback is marvellous
he seems so happy and looks lovely and old and just, mellow really
i used to worry about him
now i think he will live happily ever after
don't care if he is mainstream now
his years of misery gave us all enough wonderful music to be going on with

sling was from UKbabywearingswap which is a dreadfully named yahoo group full of cheap slings

sorky · 22/05/2009 20:40

agree he does seem happy in his skin now
a wonderful poet still

thanks for the yahoo reccy, have signed up. have a ring sling and coorie to sell

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 22/05/2009 21:05

Wow, four kids Sorky, I tip my hat to you. And you've got a wee one too, only 13 weeks, aaawwwww.

pointydog · 22/05/2009 21:12

morriseey's comeback? His band is lousy so teh songs are weak. He really needs to find interesting musicians as morrissey only does lyrics well.

AGree that it is nice to think he will now live happily ever after

sorky · 22/05/2009 21:15

hehehe I've just got why you're Lemur

Fabulous!

pinkspottywellies · 22/05/2009 22:41

Hi sorky! My ds is 13 weeks tomorrow Only my second though [awe @4]

pinkspottywellies · 22/05/2009 22:42

Franny there weren't any on that yahoo group when I looked last week but I'm watching one on ebay so fingers crossed!

Glad you got the one you wanted. Did you swap yours or are you still selling it?

SuperBunny · 23/05/2009 02:40

Buda, that was my theory too. The opposite seems to have happened but I don't think the F&V is to blame.

Mits, I had no idea you lusted after Bob Dylan. How strange. He is an amazing musician but really. On stage he wears a big hat so you can't see his face.

LR, why has DD2s teacher left?

I might order a Graze box for my sister at work, as a surprise. Would that be nice? Would she like it? She's been very supportive through so difficult stuff recently and I want to say thank you.

Strawberries (2)

but I did think about going for a run

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 23/05/2009 04:40

Guad...I would do the table in one overall colour, with a stripe of each of the other colours to sort of bring it all together...

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 23/05/2009 04:53

Might try a graze box.....but don't think I have the right e-mail addresses for codes.....will sort tomorrow.

'lusting' may be a tad of an over statement SB but my, the man can write. Now THERE is a lyrical genius. Have you seen him then?

Awww, at wee veggers, little lemurs and pinks and sorkys

I was going to do lots of fun things with DC's this week but the miserable little wretches argued ALL day today so they can twiddle their thumbs while I work through my list of 'friends to drink coffee with'.

Had lemon and blackcurrant cake in my fave coffee shop today and it was divine.

Apple x2
banana,
juice,
orange,
tomato x3
mushroom
mango (sweet and juuuiiicy)
strawberries x2

cycling...DD has had a new bike so we were racing around the local meadow. She giggled so much....

SuperBunny · 23/05/2009 06:12

Yes, yes, I saw Bob Dylan when I was pg & DS danced around in utero all night - it was the first time he had moved around a lot. Was lovely. That is, in part, how he got his name. Bob bounced around on stage a lot and seemed to make the set up as he went along - he didn't have a proper set list. They'd play one song then he'd tell the fiddler what they were going to do next and they'd start playing again. He didn't say a word all night - just played and sang and left. But was one of the best gigs I've ever been to.

Buda · 23/05/2009 07:18

Superbunny - that was not what i wanted to hear!

I haven't had breakfast yet but am planning on fruit. Maybe a bowl of chopped banana, kiwi and strawberries with some yoghurt. Hmm. That sounds nice.

Dinner last night was curry. I tried to be good and ordered a grilled vegetable kebab which sounded nice but didn't travel well. So I mainly had onion bhajis, a lamb kebab, rice and daal.

Wine consumption was not too bad - 3 white wine spritzers - loads of soda and ice.

Music wise I never really got Bob Dylan. Or Morrisey come to that. Take themselves a bit too seriously for my liking.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/05/2009 07:48

SB, yes I think your sister would love a Graze box. She'll never guess what it is and they are really well presented. If you use code XXX1G2WE it will give you a free box, but it may only work if you place a regular order. If that is the case JNW6GP5B is a code for your first box being a £1.

Buda, I have found that if I cram about 3-4 portions of fruit in for breakfast it keeps me on track for the rest of the day. Most days I have homemade granola which has lots of dried fruit in, then I chop a banana and scatter blueberries over it too. That's 3 portions without trying.

Then for lunch I'll have something like raw carrots, cauliflower and humous with a toasted wholemeal pitta. That's another 3.

FrannyandZooey · 23/05/2009 08:32

morning
i can't think of anyone that wouldn't like a graze box really
especially if they work in an office
when dp's arrived everyone was very
we just ordered one to come after the bank holiday and apparently you don't get fresh fruit but you get FOUR little compartments instead

i am meant to be asleep but my family were so incredibly noisy i got up and demanded to have the computer in bed instead [grumpy]
