For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I. Can't. Move.

I have sent DS up to get ready for bed with dH. This is a tried and oft tested method which never usually works.

I am quietly pessimistic.

Lol at never do anything fun these days.

I have all sorts of music things I might like to do but they always seem to involve either going away for the night without DS (probably not possible atm) and then if I did, I wouldn;t be able to go with DH, as we never have anyone to look after DS for more than a few hours, and no-one seems to like they same kind of music as me (well you lot probably do but none of my RL friends).

Guadalupe · 17/05/2009 19:04

I think it is probably very educational when you are 14 or 15, haw haw.

SuperBunny · 17/05/2009 19:04

I wasn't having a go at you, Guad - I know what you mean. I go out fairly frequently but don't really feel like I Go Out. There is a difference, I think. For example, I might go singing this afternoon but it is a bit like a 7 yr old going to Brownies in terms of excitement, not like going to see a band.

Salad (parsley, chives, lilacs, lettuce, mint ALL from the garden)
raisins
strawberries

Three. And it won't get much better than that today.

pointydog · 17/05/2009 19:06

do you mean lilac flowers from a lilac tree?

Guadalupe · 17/05/2009 19:07

Yes, explain lilacs. I am intrigued.

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2009 19:07

after i typed that post the computer hung and i thought "oh good that rant will have vanished into the ether"

ds1 just in tears because we didn't have time to finish our chess game before bed
neither of us are the slightest ability at chess and in fact are quite sketchy about the rules
so it was another blessing i think

Where did you go orientering? Is it a permanent site? Do you run around like a loon? Details needed.

What do lilacs taste like? Can you eat any old lilac? Maybe I can pick some of the neighbours bush that dangles into our garden?

I have lots of questions today.

I've made myself giggle about my neighbours dangley bush in my garden

SuperBunny · 17/05/2009 19:18

Yes, flowers from a lilac bush. I think you can eat any of them, Be careful with neighbour's dangly bushes though DS was very interested in eating chive flowers the other day so I googled edible flowers and thought we'd try some. Lilacs just taste like salad - not perfumey as I expected. Mine are very pale flowers. I wonder if the taste varies according to colour.

Chives are good too. Not sure what we'll try next. I don't fancy tulips.

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2009 19:21

we went to a local park - a different one to last time
apparently they go to a new venue each time and it just happens the last 2 have been near us
we did run around like loons a bit but then it totally pelted with rain and ds2 was getting soaked and we put him in the bottom half of our friend's Phil and Ted's and he screamed as if we were torturing him
i guess from sling to basement of pram is not going to be popular move
anyway it was fun
i would like to do it more but i think you have to drive to places to get to the meets, usually, which i can't be bothered with

FK, I am the same.
Any time I want to go sowmehere and do something, either no one will go with me, or they don't like what I want to do. Unless we are going out to eat, then it's okay!
And we have no one ot look after dds overnight.
So dh couldn't come with me.

The Wonderstuff ar eplaying in Bristol tomorrow night and i really thought about getting tickets.
Then wondered how we'd do it.

Ah well.

Lilac?

SuperBunny · 17/05/2009 19:29

I just cooked a huge pile of chick peas and now don't know what to do with them. Home made hummus never works so what else?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 17/05/2009 19:29

The neighbours bush is deep purple so I'll do a taste test and let you know SB.

Orientering sounds fun. I could do fast walking, but not the running I think.

Whenever I see children in the bottom of those Phil and Teds I always want to get them out and cuddle them. They are in such a shit position.

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2009 19:35

oh virtually everyone walked with their children lemur
there were some schoolchildren competing, and they all ran, and some proper orienteering adults ran, but we all walked and just sprinted a bit when we saw one of the points where you had to insert your toggle thing

i think the P+T's are probably great for wee babies and then not so great for older children

Right, I tried the dark purple lilac and it tasted nasty. It was bitter. However dh quite liked it and likened it to wet walnuts which I also think are vile.

SuperBunny · 17/05/2009 19:43

Dunno, Avi, it just never tastes right. I've tried it many times with different recipes.

SuperBunny · 17/05/2009 19:45

Wet Walnuts? I don't know what they are but sounds yuck. Find a pale lilac bush - they are ok

I'm not going to eat my lilacs. I don't fancy it. But it's good to know.

I'll stick to my oranges tonight

SuperBunny · 17/05/2009 19:49

Oh, that sounds delicious. I want to make that! Thanks Avi

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 17/05/2009 20:02

Wet walnuts are walnuts straight from the tree (I think), rather than the dried ones you tend to find in shops.

Pointy, if I were you I would stick to the oranges you have put aside too.

Although I now need to find a pale lilac bush to see what they taste like
