For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Avi, was it sunny and warm or sunny with an icy wind?

mollyroger · 09/05/2009 10:39

morning all.
TooT I love hearing about your grandmother, my life has lacked grandparents xx

Wombling : how exciting! Was it like that bit in bridgit Jones where her mother is on the shopping channel?
May we have your autograph?

I have decided i loathe weekends. All that promise of fun things and family time but in reality, my kids are exhuasted and just want to lounge in their pjs, my dh spends all weekend on the PC and whinges if I suggest anything and I wander around consumed with guilt about housework, yet feeling disinclined to do it, because it is the weekend IYSWIM

littlerach · 09/05/2009 10:44

Oh I know that feeling Molly.
Except dh is either not here (with other 2 which I know is right and good) or wants to watch football.

The wind is cold today, again.

Poor Timmy Twitch had his mixy jab yesterday and was Not Happy. He sulked until I gave him a dandelion leaf and is still a bit subdued now.
Dd2 was impressed that he didn't cry

It is our wedding anniversray tomorrow, 6 years, I htink

TooTicky · 09/05/2009 10:47

Molly, pop down here and we can ignore housework together. I am an expert. Then when it has been thoroughly ignored we can go for a walk byu the canal, with children and bikes and scooters and dollies and bread for the ducks.

TooTicky · 09/05/2009 10:48

Hello LR. Hugs to TT.

mollyroger · 09/05/2009 10:49

oh Toot, that sound brilliant !

mollyroger · 09/05/2009 10:51

LR - are yu doing anything nice for your anniversary?
I have just realised with horror that next year I turn 40 and we celebrate 15 years' wed within a month of each other

TooTicky · 09/05/2009 10:55

brilliant until you realise how many child/vehicle, coats on/coats off, dollies strapped in/dollies carried combinations and permutations there are...

FrannyandZooey · 09/05/2009 11:07

LOL TooTh

wombling that is really cool! may we know what you were demonstrating? i bet you were fab
i must agree with you about the presenters - i used to live with tv addict and often watched shopping channels in awe and respect
they just rabbit on and on and on - and make it all sounds chatty and comfortable - what a skill

pink i was thinking £35? does that sound reasonable? don't worry about it if you want to decline

molly our weekends kept going horribly wrong, with dp thinking he was going to get to relax all the time, and me thinking he was going to be superdad around the house doing jobs and bathing babies
now we sit down on friday evening and plan out more or less exactly what we are going to do and at what time
it is the death of spontaneity but it does actually work and we get what we want to done

I like your weekend planning Franny! I think we need to do that or we get to after lunch on sat and DH wants to do some far flung expensive activity and sulks that I get to do stuff with dcs in the week! And I point out that by the time we get to far flung activity we'll have about half an hour before we have to come home!

I will decline the sling I think cause although I think it's beautiful I think given that slings are wierd enough round here I'll stick with less conspicuous black! Thanks for giving me first refusal though.

I agree with Fran about the shopping presenters! They do seem to be able to talk for hours about the product. I used to watch quite a bit of shopping tv and you get hooked, in a mindless kind of way! Wombling, if you don't want to say on here can you email/facebook us and let us know please?

littlerach · 09/05/2009 13:06

Yes, Wombling, presenting sounds v glamourous

Fran, O hav eplanted lots of the salad seeds, thank you again

And i have just plantde rocket and parsley too.

And harvested all of the radishes - they ar egiant radishes.

We are goin to meet friends tomorrow for a walk and the hcildren can play. I htink there's a mini festivla where we are going, so will look at that too.

Tomatoes

Oh, stepson has finished his Ten Tors thing. he was doing it on a specially adapted bike as his wheel chair wouldn't have worked properly. DH has sat on his arse and waited as he wasn't allowed to accompany him (stupid beaurocracy and all).
Hurrah

FrannyandZooey · 09/05/2009 13:58

well done dss rach

i know the planning thing sounds totally sad and anal but it really has worked for us
we were bickering every weekend about these different expectations, and also i felt disappointed on sunday night as we never seemed to have got anything done
i have a better idea of what is achievable now, and dp has to state for instance if he needs some time to himself - he has a habit of expecting his needs to be met without actually saying what they are, then getting resentful about it

Well done LR DSS.

I saw that Pink! It made me wonder - do you all have picky eaters? Cos DS will eat anything.

Wombling that sounds very exciting. Did you wera a glitzy dress? What products were you demonstrating?

Avi!

I planted lots in my garden and was convinced I'd remember what things were but now I have rows of seedlings that I vaguely remember planting but I cannot identify them. And a patch of potential weeds that may or may not be basil or mixed herbs. Why do I do this every* year?

womblingalong · 09/05/2009 15:48

hi everyone,

thanks for being kind, it is a bit cringy really. i don't want to say what on here, but they are repeating show tonight if you have these channels. If anyone is really desperate to know, email me and i'll tell, don't really want to broadcast it on the www. IFYKWIM

SuperBunny · 09/05/2009 15:53

I'm intrigued. I bet it was tupperware or one of those magic cloths that wipes up spills, absorbing 3 gallons of water and leaves not a drop.

I made porridge with grated apple in it and it has made it all watery and yuck.

mollyroger · 09/05/2009 15:56

well, that didn't go to plan....

I had a mini tantrum (again) about how I hated weekends becaue of all this. We all sat down and decided to go to small nearby town for picnic by river and a walk and ice cream.
Lovely time had by all - except that we got a parking ticket, because DH didn't spot the bit which said £1.50 SAT/SUN and only put 90p (the normal weekday price for 3 hours).

And somehow it is my fault I feel....

And so in addition to school appeal panic planning tomorrow, we also have to word an appeal letter to parking dept.

ho hum. I am going out tonight to eat takeaway and laugh with friends over Britain's Got Talent.

Well done to LR dss!

Hope everyone else is having a more proiftable weekend.

FrannyandZooey · 09/05/2009 16:43

course it wasn't your fault moll!

wombling i used to like the fairydust woman plus what do they call cubic zirconias? oh yes DIAMONIQUE
i think it is fab anyway, i would love to do something like that. but prob be too nervous and i am too twisty for tv anyway

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 09/05/2009 16:45

pink i do understand - it is a bit in yer face really
you can start with a black one and work your way up to mad stripes

FrannyandZooey · 09/05/2009 16:46

i just wrote an essay on the thread you mentioned earlier
i fear i have been really patronising, i didn't mean to
but i read it this morning and i've been thinking about it all day

OP posts:
mollyroger · 09/05/2009 17:33

it was an essay, alright! But not patronising at all. I have avoided that thread, having faddy eaters myself.
(also, I was a very faddy eater and now I eat everything and anything. Nothing 'cured' me, or punished me into it, I just decided)
