For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

lolol...

anyway...how is the weather in your poarts all?

pointydog · 20/04/2009 09:53

I have read 100's book but I have a terrible memory for books and films so I'll need a bit more context than 'coming through a hedge'. When was that?

I liked wimpy bridget with all those teeth. Teeth descriptions appeal to me.

I did want to hear more about sex and Robert, though

pointydog · 20/04/2009 09:54

beautiful sunshiney day and a holiday Monday up here - huzzah!

I am meant to be working so I will be on here most of the day .

TigerFeet · 20/04/2009 10:28

morning veggers

I have a pile of ironing as high as my house to tackle this morning, does that count as exercise?

We're off to soft play later to meet dd's friend and her Mum, who is someone I hope will become a friend as we seem to be on the same wavelength.

Faaaar to early in the day for me to have eaten much f&v but have melon in the fridge for later

DD should be back at school tomorrow but is having an op to correct her squint [fear] and will have the rest of the week off. I've had enough of hospitals for now, thankyewverymuch, and I am hoping this will be our last visit to one for a while barring routine baby appts. DD seems to be taking it in her stride, whereas I am a bundle of nerves. I need to ring the hospital now as they were supposed to be sending me some info on how long she needs to be nil by mouth and so forth but it hasn't arrived. I rang last week when I realised we were less than a week away and they said they'd send it but still no show

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 20/04/2009 11:23

I have to ring the doctors to discuss the results from my tests at hospital....

......

littlerach · 20/04/2009 12:12

TF, hugs ot you for dd. Bloody hospitals.

Mits, have a hug. TooT gave me a hug from you earlier so here's one back.
Hope it is good news.

Can I tell you all how lovely TooT was ot me this morning? I wailed and sobbed on her and she didn't run off .

Raisins

TigerFeet · 20/04/2009 13:22

I've now had a couple of portions of melon

I think we'll have a whopping great salad for tea

Guadalupe · 20/04/2009 13:26

Oh dear, MW. Well, that is bound to worry you. Don't wait. Insist that you speak to someone straightaway. Good luck.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 20/04/2009 13:32

I have to go to the surgery.....appointment in the morning..

I am going out for some fresh air.

Guadalupe · 20/04/2009 13:38

Well, personally, I would refuse to wait, even till tomorrow. My letter gave me an appointment THREE WEEKS LATER to discuss with hospital as it was a Monday clinic and it went over Easter, so I phoned the doctor and got him to access my hospital notes and I was waiting there at the end of surgery, which happened to be half an hour later.

I don't know how you will sleep tonight otherwise. It may not be bad news but you will worry won't you. Is there any way you can ask to be seen as an emergency today? I hope it's ok.

SuperBunny · 20/04/2009 14:30

I was wondering where OsBa is.

I always think peas are rather innocuous yet I know 2 people who loathe them. Grown ups who won't eat peas!

Mits, I think you may have discovered bthe real reason behind Franny's desire for a Filofax. Poo Logging, I bet they do a proper chart you can buy and probably stickers too.

I think Guad is right - it is unreasonable to make you wait.

Guadalupe · 20/04/2009 14:33

I don't like peas.

I will eat them, if I have to, but I would rather not. It is the only vegetable my mother will eat so it was the only one we ate. Egg, chips and peas, Corned beef hash and peas, egg fried rice and peas...

SuperBunny · 20/04/2009 14:37

Actually, I will only eat Petit Pois but I will eat them with more or less anything. Very versatile are peas.

Guadalupe · 20/04/2009 14:39

Was your nose in the air when you posted that, SB?

I read it as, 'ackshully, I only eat petiti pois' dahling.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 20/04/2009 14:59

I agree with Guad....

On saturday night, H who is still living here, got drunk and something happened that shouldn't have. With my DS.
I am sort of numb and want to talk to the doctor about other things, if I break down on the phone, I will be unable to deal with it all....IYSWIM.

The results, whilst worrying, seem somehow unreal. Just treading water.

littlerach · 20/04/2009 15:55

Mits.

Hope you are okay. And ds.

TooTicky · 20/04/2009 17:23

Hugs to everybody who needs them.

I love peas. Little green miracles. But not tinned, oh no. They get claustrophobic and taste all miserable.

The poo chart WAS funny.

TooTicky · 20/04/2009 17:44

The boys have been making a potion. In the water butt. And they decided to tip it out. There was a dead rat in it. And the whole thing REEKS.

littlerach · 20/04/2009 17:55

Eurgh at rat.

Yuck.

Was it a good potion?

Can I compost rabbit hutch waster like sawdust?

Toamtoes
salad

TooTicky · 20/04/2009 17:57

It was a completely foul and rank potion.

I compost hamster straw. Waste from any vegetarian animal is okay imo.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 20/04/2009 18:04

Peas are my favourite vegetable. I love the sweetness and the texture and the way they go pop in your mouth. I agree that tinned peas are sad, so taste awful.

Wow, I'm loving the potion making. I remember doing that with rose petals and leaving them in a jar of water until they went mouldy.

Hugs Mits. Good luck for the Doc's appt tomorrow. Chin up, best foot forward and all that.

SuperBunny · 20/04/2009 18:16

Yes, guad I am a pea snob

Mits, I am not sure what happened on Saturday but it sounds very worrying.

Yes, you can compost rabbit poo & stuff. Although some animal waste can attract other animals so might not be a good idea.

Yuck & dead rat.

SuperBunny · 20/04/2009 18:19

I was most disgruntled when all my neighbours politely declined to buy a jam jar of rose petal perfume.
