For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Glad he's back, Mitsubishi.
Wine may be better than intestines though

Guad, hope scan is ok. Black tea seems an odd thing to have to drink.

Have consultants on Tuesday at 10.40am

But the receptionist says it is just to see consultant, no scan.
My GP said it would be a 2 hr appt, with everything done in one.
I can't be told to go home and come back another day, I wouldn't cope

Have taken a beta blocker thing today and it has worked I htink.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 17/04/2009 09:59

I don't drink LR (anymore...gave up completely over 1 1/2 yrs ago ) but it is tempting!!

It is still a wait LR but fairly prompt. Maybe talk to docs to confirm what will be done. Glad Beta Blockers are helping.

Thinking of you, and you Guad.

I have no results..thought it would be through by now, but need to see docs due to CMH referral. I am externally OK and positive, but must confess that internally I think I am beginning to crack. I am scared that if I go to pieces it will be total IYSWIM.

Just keep swimming..swim swim swimming.....

Guadalupe · 17/04/2009 10:04

Well, I don't think I have to drink black tea, I just can't have milk in it.

MW - It was few weeks after the loop before I heard anything both times I think.

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2009 13:11

wishing everyone well
just briefly answering about the nappies, we haven't been able to use cloth nappies for months
in theory we are going back to them "when this clears up"
he was wearing a different sort of nappy that night but is one we have used before with no problems
perhaps he is getting MORE sensitive?
anyway god knows it can not possibly be interesting to anyone except me so will zip lips

ds2 is eating his first lentil burger [proud]
ds1 has been promised a piece of birthday cake after lunch and is sighing "but mummy my tummy says it doesn't want lentil burgers, it is horrid to force food down when you don't want it isn't it, it doesn't want banana or nuts or salad either, you must listen to your tummy you know"

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 17/04/2009 14:18

lol, dd is very good at that. She feels positively sorry for her poor forced dinner side while her starved pudding side rumbles away.

What nappies are they, Franny? Seems logical something in the strip caused this patch doesn't it? Sometimes things trigger ds2's skin off and then next time he's fine. Maybe that wil be a one off.

Scan was fine. Nothing to be seen and she said they look like they're working perfectly, well, I won't say what she said because it's grim but I deduced from that that they're working. I'm not shrivelling up just yet. Don't know what the pain is then, maybe just general protest or IBS. Weird being back at the hospital.

My new house is half painted. The back room with patio doors is pale powdery blue and looks really pretty in the sun. The rest is just undercoated but it's starting to look nice. Can't imagine actually moving in.

littlerach · 17/04/2009 15:48

Guad at ovaries.

Our dining room is pwder blue and cream. It does look lovely (excpet from the toys and currently the table of plants growing )

When are you hoping ot mve in?

We have had a lovely day woth my sis, BIl and neice and step neice. they brought lunch with them and made us laugh all day

peppers
tomatoes
banana chips
muesli

Boco · 17/04/2009 16:07

Glad scan was fine Guad.

Girls are funny, they've set up a doll hospital and made really intricate drips and blood transfusion things and oxygen masks out of the ends of bottles and string and cups and tape. They look amazing, am quite impressed. Dd2 is dressed as a nurse and dd1 is a doctor. A lot of the dolls have hearts that have foolishly come loose.

We went swimming, that was exercise. I got told off for swimming ONE measly length without them They had armbands on and instructions to stay by the shallow end wall, but the woman RAN down to the deep end to tell me off.

littlerach · 17/04/2009 16:13

Oh, sweet girls, Boco.

I find that the dds just start playing nicley together around the second half of the second week of the hols

They are currently playing libraries.
When neice was here they played midwives . Dd2 had 63 babies She sells them ,apparently.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 17/04/2009 16:23

Pleased for you Guad and at decorating shiny new house.

If you put a picture up in our house you can hear the plaster falling off the walls. I'd like to think it was shabby chic.

Banana,
raspberries,
blackberries,
smoothie, x2

Going for a run in a bit. Need to taste the hill air. ( the air does taste different. I live on a busy lorry laden junction and it is soooo clean up there!)

pointydog · 17/04/2009 16:33

yesterday

sultanan bran
red pepper humous
olives
pasta tomato sauce
more olives
orange

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2009 18:19

i got a diary from paperchase in the sale
while i was in there i noticed personal organisers
this is a revelation
you can put all your addresses in and not rewrite them every year
and space for notes and birthdays and all sorts and god knows what
dp going "you're getting a filofax"
"no i am not it is a personal organiser"
"you are, you're getting a filofax"
"no i am NOT "
ad nauseum

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2009 18:21

guad this is good news
i want to hear the grim bit - i presume you just mean tmi - but it is interesting isn't it? if you weren't worried and a bit wonky by being in the hospital again i would imagine having a scan of your ovaries would be quite cool
i hope the pain doesn't recur anyway

what is powder blue? is it that very brightish pale blue?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2009 18:33

oh nappies
well this one was nature baby which i really like but do have some crap in afaik
however they don't seem to have affected him particularly badly before
yes it certainly did make sense that it was something in the nappy, but a bit random to have started all of a sudden
possibly just reaction to wetness or wee? bizarre either way
he's very itchy but quite chipper today
changing his nappy is like fighting with a small cute pink goat on speed

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 17/04/2009 19:10

Good news Guad, and good luck for next week LR.

So then Franny, you're now a filofax owner? How does it feel? I love my filofax.

lol @ cute pink goat

banana
blueberries
dried fruit
plums
nakd bar (2 portions)
salad leaves
tomatoes
cucumber
coleslaw
apple juice
mushrooms, onions, tomatoes (1 portion)

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2009 19:51

i haven't bought it yet

errr i mean IT IS NOT A FILOFAX

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2009 19:53

so
what i wanted to ask was:
given that i have just lost my diary, would it be the act of an idiot to transfer MORE of my life into a small book that i carry around with me
i mean for instance i organise a lot of home ed events
if i had a filofax personal organiser i could carry all that info with me as well
but if i then lost it
[horror]
what do you think?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2009 19:55

can i add i have not lost a diary since 1990 when i was coming home drunk and decided to play horse of the year show with a friend
this involved singing the music loudly and cantering
then going over 'jumps', at which point everything in my bag was falling out all over the street, only i didn't realise that until the next day

OP posts:
Boco · 17/04/2009 19:56

It's fine, carry it around, but just be more careful. Don't put it down in the street anymore. Put it in a do-uppable bag with a secure fastening and conduct yourself in a sensible manner.

Boco · 17/04/2009 19:58

And I wrote that before I'd even seen your post about pretending to be a horse!

FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2009 20:00

it was 19 years ago now
but yes i need a proper bag you are right

OP posts:
Boco · 17/04/2009 20:01

Not a nosebag.

FrayedKnot · 17/04/2009 20:04

Evening all

Guad glad your scan was OK and thanks for the Tapas tip

You are doing what I have only ever been able to dream about doing which is to move into a house already decorated and everything as you want it.

We have lived in our house for nearly 4 years and although we have done lots of decorating, new kitchen and things, we still have a bare lightbulb in the downstairs loo because I can;t be bothered to get my lovely crinkled glass lampshade up in there when the walls are still covered in grimy textured wallpaper and a horrible brown carpet.

Franny it must be something in the nappy, or maybe just the wetness, perhaps?

Lol at your Filofax discussion.

LR was it the receptionist at the GP or hospital that said the appt was just to see the consultant?

FrayedKnot · 17/04/2009 20:08
FrannyandZooey · 17/04/2009 20:17

right
have made effort today

apple
banana
grapes
raisins

mixed dried fruit

SuperBunny · 17/04/2009 20:23

Oh Mits, poor little boy. Must be ever so hard for you

Tuesday is good, LR. I do hope they do everything - seems very silly to get you to see the consultant but not have everything checked at the same time.

Glad Guad's scan was ok.

Lol @ horse of the year.

Went out for lunch with friends & DC and opted for a delicious salad which was as delicious as promised until about halfway through when I had a mouthful of mud and grit. Too many kids around to complain and wait for another so I just boaked quietly and ate DS's chips
And my 'friend' made DS order the chicken nuggets
