Mangohood - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hard to catch up...

Hope Atilla is ok. Sorry for stuffit's problems. I did see your thread but didn't post cos I had nothing helpful to say. I was going to post for moral support but I don't think I actually did.

Hope Bocos DD1 is better

re creche, Fran. I got a package today - The Book! Thank you so much! I am going to read it on Saturday night

I did lots of digging and laid a little path in my garden. DS provided labor and brought bricks for me, saving me the bother. I didn't realise that children could actually be useful. We planted: broccoli, rocket and lettuce outside and beets, peppers, basil, sage and corn inside.

raisins
lentil salad
fruit salad
juice
2 bean chili

I have a green jacket. I must dig it out.

FrannyandZooey · 20/03/2009 08:22

hoorah for the book

Oh, good, I'm glad he is feeling better. Even if things come and go you will find the good patches getting longer.

I have discovered dorset cereal bars for breakfast, they are very quick and easy. Duff mango number 47775.

FrannyandZooey · 20/03/2009 08:29

oooh at dorset cereal bars
i wonder if suma do them
i have green and blacks cereal bars but they have chocolate on and are strictly for treats

AND guad i have been eating dairy
and so far no difference

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 20/03/2009 08:30

oh no difference except i have plompfed about 3 lb on again as soon as i looked at a piece of cheese

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 20/03/2009 08:39

Oh, good, that must be a relief for you

lol at plomphed, cheese has a habit of plomphing. I dare not eat any atm, except for a tsp of sweaty dried parmesan now and then. I never thought I would eat that again, much preferring to crumble long slivers of fresh parmesan on my rissotto/pasta/minestrone.

Avi - go and help Policywonk out on the G20 summit thread. I think you'll be a real help re environmental issues etc.

Going to read thread now

TooTtheTwaT · 20/03/2009 10:32

Good morning
I am liking this sunshine stuff.
Not liking the excess of dogs on the canal path though. This weather brings them out but it is not yet high season so not enough other walkers to distract them from me.
I do not like being barked/ruffed/huffed/leapt/run at.

Boco · 20/03/2009 10:59

Why are you a twat, toot?

Spoke to dr today, and dd1 does have conjunctivitis - the viral kind, which he said is very contagious, so now i'm blinking and staring and hoping I don't get it too. Apparently we have to bathe eyes in black tea. I said to him 'will I get it? I need to do a lot of looking at the moment you know!' and he did

TooTtheTwaT · 20/03/2009 12:54

Oh, various reasons.

Hope dd1's eyes get better soon, and that you don't get it...

mollyroger · 20/03/2009 15:30

I am having a frustrating day of communication cock-ups. My phone is broken and I managed to lock my 'spare' phone while getting in a flap over pin numbers. So I couldn't contat my friend, who I was really looking forward to seeing.
So I sulked and ate clementines and strawberries.

I have also eaten some salad.

And it appears dh has not taken the children to get me anything for Mother's day (or taken my hints about Amazon and certain books...)

And we are supposed to be going to the boat tomorrow and overnight. Whichmeans we will get home with barely enough time for me to tidy up before my mother comes fror sunday dinner. And all I really wanted to do on Mother's day was escape to the allotment and read in the sunshine plant stuff.
Pah.

stuffitllama · 20/03/2009 15:50

Have never heard of viral conjunctivitis -- that's rotten. Is it more painful than bacterial? V interesting about black tea though. Hope to goodness it works for you Boco. Surely it can't be airborne? lots of handwashing?

Toot you are NOT A TWAT but you are not.

Molly that sounds all very bitty and unsatisfactory. You will have a lovely feeling on Sunday evening when you have achieved so much though. You can retire with your book to the bath and let someone else do the washing up and bedtime as your present.

Have just eaten a satsuma. Why? And some onions in steak sauce. That's just desperate.

Ds1 just told me there is a snake in the loo. It's not a snake, it looks like a stripey slug with legs stuck to the side. Perhaps it is a salamander. Or do they live in the fire. It's in our loo anyway and no one knows what to do so we are ignoring it. But not using the loo.

SuperBunny · 20/03/2009 16:19

Ooo, exciting stuff in your loo, stuffit. DS often calls me to inspect the snake in our loo but his is of the poo variety and he now accepts that I do not wish to see it.

TooT,I think you are not really a twat.

Good news about DS2, Franny. It's so frustrating that it just comes and goes for no apparent reason, isn't it? But thank goodness it is going.

I have a hugely busy weekend coming up but should be good.

Lettuce
raisins

TooTtheTwaT · 20/03/2009 16:32

Oh Molly

Stuffit, my children would love to peer into your loo.

I have walked between 10 and 15 miles today. Ought to find a way of measuring it really. Ran bits of it.

Somebody lovely called me a twat and it made me smile

SuperBunny · 20/03/2009 16:35

Oh, Twat in a good way?

Molly, if it makes you feel any better, I won't get anything for Mother's Day either. In fact, I had to go to court to even see DS on Mother's Day day since I don't usually have him on weekends

stuffitllama · 20/03/2009 16:41

SB what kind of man is he?

Boco · 20/03/2009 16:45

That's awful SB

Exciting toilet visitor stuffit, let us know if you identify it!

Viral conjunctivitis is usually called 'pink eye' apparently. It's not bad, just catching and annoying.

I have done V. Good driving today, am really enjoying it. I never ever thought I could enjoy it so much.

Dp from the 'but, I'M NOT YOUR mother' school of mother's day thought. But I usually get a very large pile of hand made pictures and cards from girls. He made his mum a card by cutting up an old map, so, very similar to the girls really. But without the 'you are the best mummy is the hole woyd weld' type messages. I hope.

TooTtheTwaT · 20/03/2009 16:55

No no really, it was perfectly acceptable twattage

SB

Go Boco!! Do you drive with loud music?

littlerach · 20/03/2009 16:58

The homemade cards are def the best though.
And when theyhave chosen gifts it is lovely.

SB, and .

Dh is cooking tonight, hurrah!
He has had a day off so is rather chillded (and wearing shorts )

SuperBunny · 20/03/2009 17:04

It worked out ok, so I'm not bothered anymore. I am used to having to fight for stuff like this anyway.

Am glad you are happy with your twattiness Toot

SuperBunny · 20/03/2009 17:06

Oh, can you get Israeli couscous in the UK? It's big fat balls instead of little sandy grains.
