For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hi Atilla...all that barftasttic blardy romancce crap....over rated...lol ...glad you had a nice time treting the Kids in an extravagant manner....

Pink...ouch...why would she do that?????the thought makes me shudder....

Franny, no straightforward it never is...and of course you worry...yes, in the grandscheme Eczema generally isn't anything major , BUT it still has a real effect and will cause anxieties, and all that...completely natural to feel that way...
Oh, and I found Grapeseed Ol in the bath great....it's even better than Oliveoil, because the molecules are smaller than the one in Olive oil and are better absorped...
We used to get OIlatum, but for us that was the worst ever...it brought us all out in the itches...
Thing is, with eczema it is such an individual thing what works for someone, what works for one doesn't work for the next one...
Tbh, when I had a very bad time with my Eczema and even gotten it in my face I was really down about it...which is stupid, considering that I have a cleft lip and palate, and therefore should be used to looking different...but it still got to me...
with me it's a mixture of stress and environmental...was worried that it would start again, now that I am back in an Hospital environment, which ususally triggers it, but so far so good...so possibly was more the stress/h|ospital combo...

Anyways...dh seems to be on the way back now...
Am not in a good mood, had a night of weird and disturbing dreams and just feeling groggy , despite the fact that I didn't actually drink much....the Cranberry juice seemed to have helped a bit, btw...so, that is good...but Kids are fighting and just screaming at eachother, which really doesn't do anyhting to lift my mood...and have not eaten anything sensible, but chocolate/nougat eggs...hohum...
Yannic is having realissues again with letting go of his pooh...oh why does he always go back to this, after a time of good success...it never seems to last...

hohum..I am a miserable cow today....what can I say, but sorry...

FairLadyRantALot · 15/02/2009 12:26

Man I do sound miserable ...sorry for that...

Kids have stopped screaming...woopie...when they scream they really make my eardrums vibrate and it feels like they want to explode...unpleasant experince...anyone know where they volume button is meant to be? Surely they should come with one of those

pinkspottywellies · 15/02/2009 12:40

Oh Fairlady, sorry you're miserable. Have a rant on here and you'll feel better

DH is a biter too - feet as well I think as a child We're going to try some nasty tasting stuff and see what happens. I searched the archives this morning - apparently lots of HVs recommend just saying stop every time but I've been doing that for months!

Lettuce and tomato in sandwich.

Going back to bed now!

mollyroger · 15/02/2009 12:42

I've jsut had a slice of left-over beef wellingotn., Man, it is goood

FairLadyRantALot · 15/02/2009 12:48

beef wellingon sounds delicious...my dh tried it a few years ago, but it didn't work out that time, and the pastry got soggy....

pink...hope you find something that works for your dd...must be very painful for her...
ms is a fingernail biter, but he stops at the nails, iykwim..he doesn't go over the top with it...still bothers me that he does it...but think it's more a silly habit...

Talking about nails...I got to check his little toenail...he seemed to have torn it a bit off, but yesterday he wouldn't let me look properly....now that dh is in, we might be able to get more of an idea what happened...

foxinsocks · 15/02/2009 14:20

I saw fairlady pop up on here and it made me chuckle (lube in the supermarket conversation....if it wasn't you fairlady, I apologise now a thousand times over)!

franny, re the eczema, you must have been given an emolient cream? For his skin? I can't remember how old miniFranny no.2 is, but if the oilatum is soothing him in the bath, then I would definitely be plastering him in some sort of emollient on a day to day basis. It's hit and miss which one will suit him....we have gone through plain aqueous cream, Diprobase (still one of my faves) and we are currently using Epaderm (v v thick) on the children and dh because they are bad at the moment (tis the weather I think).

I would go for 100% cotton I'm afraid and on the bed.

I think this is a good age for working it out though tbh. With dd it was eggs (and various other things...she still gets it now but we 'manage' it and it's FAR better now that she's older). With dh it is eggs, chicken, cats and stress. Ds we are not sure but he doesn't get it regularly.

You can also get sleepsuits with little mittens on the end that stop them scratching their skin raw when you're not watching them!

But if you have no emollient, that's the first thing I would change. Also, pointydog (did I see a post of hers on here when I read it?) is v good on eczema.

FairLadyRantALot · 15/02/2009 14:38

lol fox...oh, I remember that conversation

OsmosisBanana · 15/02/2009 14:49

hello lentilly witches.

I am bidding on a rather gorgeous dress for my birthday whilst DH is not around to spoil my fun. I can't link as I've already bid and won't take you to the right page. Type in Oasis teal dress on ebay and it'll come up. If you're bored that is. If not, please do carry on with your lives

We had scallops on a pea puree, salmon in a white wine n cream sauce with PSB and some sort of gooey chocolate brownie type nonsense for dinner last night. Not bad going considering the strength of my hangover. Then had to skulk off to bed due to sudden onslaught of rich food the likes of which have not been round these parts since before NYE.

Right, off to catch up on thread.

I am obsessed with sugar snap pea and avocado salad. I am destroying the ozone single handedly.

womblingalong · 15/02/2009 15:17

Hello!

I forgot to tell you about the meal DH cooked for me last night, it was very lovely.

Courgette fritters with feta and dill
Georgian Chicken with plums and rice pilaf.

It was very delicious, and very rare, as I think he cooked once last year! However, he has realised he needs to do a bit more, as DD (4), gave him a good (unprompted) talking to, saying:
"It is very naughty to not be a good cooker Daddy, and you never cook with me, and that is not good, because you are not the best cooker in the world like Mummy. You need to practice and then you'll get gooder."

Anyway he has decided he will cook once a week - result!

womblingalong · 15/02/2009 15:20

Oh how was the dance Boco and Guad?

When I came down from putting DD to bed last night DH was listening to "The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B" and I thought of you with your coiffed hair and 40's frocks looking glamourous and sexy.

Hope you had a good time.

FairLadyRantALot · 15/02/2009 15:32

oh lol at your dd wombling....blessssss

and indeed..think Guad and Boco are hungover...so, must have had a good time, eh

pinkspottywellies · 15/02/2009 15:53

Ooh OsBa! The satin with the big bow on the front? It's lovely! How's things with DH?

OsmosisBanana · 15/02/2009 16:14

that's the one Pink. DH is on the up. Thank god.

How you??

pinkspottywellies · 15/02/2009 16:16

I'm ok thanks Wanted to go to sleep this afternoon but SIL and BIL came round. Bit late now so will have to make do with early night. Glad DH is perking up. Did you have to kick ass or did he just snap out of it?!

OsmosisBanana · 15/02/2009 16:32

Bit of both. Think a little bit more regular shagging is all he actually needs.

He has a week off too so can catch up on sleep / jobs he needs to do round the house pre kitchen arriving etc. (and tidy up my DIY messes)

SuperBunny · 15/02/2009 17:16

Mornin

OsmosisBanana · 15/02/2009 17:20

mollyroger · 15/02/2009 17:37

Hello! We have having a very grebby dinner of roast chicekn with chips and salad
Actually I am having the salad, the boys have opted for veg and gravy.

They are going away for 2 days tomorrow. Dh and I are panicking about enforced Adult Conversation! I want to go to the cnema.

TooTicky · 15/02/2009 17:39

grebby?

SuperBunny · 15/02/2009 17:47

Grebby dinner sounds good. I seem to be craving mash and gravy at the moment but can't find any veggie gravy and am not sure how to make it myself.

It's bloody freezing and I have to go out.

Banana

mollyroger · 15/02/2009 17:50

sorry TooT, is our family parlance for the sort of meal which usually requires tomato ketchup as an accompaniament!

It's from the old days when dh and I were considered 'grebos' by the rest of the population for wearing grubby leather jackets and being Motorcycle Enthusiasts...

pinkspottywellies · 15/02/2009 17:50

I'm having leftover roast chicken with salad and potato waffles! DD and DH just had spag bol from the freezer. She had a bit of a paddy just when we were about to sit her down (she's tired and wanted to go straight to bed) but managed to calm down and eat her own body weight in pasta. Her and DH would live on nothing else!

AtillaTheHoney · 15/02/2009 17:55

SB....!!

Glad things seem to be improving Osba....it can be real crap....and what a fun way to improve things. probably why I get so depressed....sigh.

How lovely Wombling!!

Sorry, you were so low yesterday Fairlady... It is not like you...I hope you are feeling better today .

Have you massaged DS's tummy?

My DC's just don't get on and it is so hard...I tell them I am living in an abusive household!! The counsellor still thinks I have confrontation issues (and this was a different one!!) Thank-god I rediscovered running!!

OsmosisBanana · 15/02/2009 17:57

hello TooTleOot. I heart Everybody Hurts by REM. Went on all of my 'woe is me, I'm a teenager and nobody cares' mixes .

Also featuring

Black - Pearl Jam
Man Who Sold The World - Nirvana
Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton
Disarm - Smashing Pumpkins
Sorry - Tracy Chapman.

I could go on but those are the only vaguely ok ones.

Guadalupe · 15/02/2009 18:01

I had roast beef in the pub with hair of the dog. I needed it.

Night out very good. It was like being on a cruise ship and people's outfit's were amazing. Everyone was dressed up and coiffed and people watching was. Music was a bit slow but we danced a lot later. Boco is a bad influence.

1 broccoli floret.
