For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

it does look delish...but I'm obviously not as much of a lentil weaver as I thought....

FrannyandZooey · 14/02/2009 18:57

we do live near everything because i don't actually drive
we just use it for family expeditions, occasional shopping trip, and so on
we were doing less than 3000 miles a year so it was stupid having a car sitting in the drive really, plus then it was getting so old it was needing lots of fixing = £££
we haven't money for another, so are trying this car club thing
we'll definitely save money over the year, but as i say it is a bit inhibiting to have to pay per journey
you think "well i won't go then"
which isn't the idea

OP posts:
stuffitllama · 14/02/2009 19:01

I can imagine -- but only because when you've got a car you do sort of forget about the year-long costs. Car club sounds quite sound under the circs.

We have a banged up old jeep and I want to put some Cath Kidston curtains in it. Sorry, not interesting but I really, REALLY want to.

mollyroger · 14/02/2009 19:01

it's off franny, I don't drive, but dh does and has to commute to work 3 days a week.
I was looking into taking the family to London for a day (with a night in travelodge). It actually works out cheaper for us to bloody drive to Luton, pay to park for short term aiport car park, go on shuttle to london, than to go on train - and the train included special on-line discount

I feel so disappointed, as I do try to be green . But also the 'special offer' train tickets meant we weren't allowed to get on train home til 8.30 at night, which would have meant getting to station at 11, then getting connection home at midnight.

mollyroger · 14/02/2009 19:02

I don't know what the ''it's off franny'' bit means, sorry. Gremlins.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/02/2009 19:05

Could not live without a car. Well, I'm sure I could but I wouldn't like to IYSWIM.

Maybe the train would have been cheaper, mind you the fares can be silly bloody money.

The only thing I remember about Ips Museum is the stuffed animals. God they used to frighten the shite out of me. I also think there was a rhino in the entrance hall. Oh, and I think I remember seeing a stuffed Dodo, and I don't think there are many of them in the world.

Go to Christchurch Park when the weather is better. You can then picnic in the park, run around madly at the playground, feed the ducks, walk around the house and have an ice-cream!

We walked around the park in our village today. We done about 6 miles and I'm pooped. As is ds who decided to have a stay-awake-athon this avo, but who is now sleeping soundly in his cot.

Have a fab time Guad and Boco. Don;t worry Guad, the curls will relax after a while!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/02/2009 19:09

Jesus, with all my verbal diahorria (sp!) I forgot to list:

banana x2
dried fruit x2
blueberries
OJ
apple
onions, pineapple, tomatoes, sweetcorn (2-3)

FrannyandZooey · 14/02/2009 19:12

lemur yes that is my plan
plus go to h+m baby wear section which i was cruelly not allowed to do today

molly i expect you meant piss off franny
or possibly tits off
or hats off?

I would put every type of nut in my muesli. I bloody love muesli.

FrannyandZooey · 14/02/2009 19:14

there is a rhino, a woolly mammoth, and oodles of those victorian cases of birds all arranged on rocks and trees and stuff
they are fascinating but rather grim at same time
100 i do not recommend you go upstairs at ipswich museum
just a thought

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 14/02/2009 19:17

i will have SOME nuts but not too many
you have to be careful with nuts you know

I went to a 2 year old's birthday party for Valentines day It was nice though! Haven't really seen DH today! I got up early with DD then got him up while I went back to bed. We had lunch together then we went to party and he went to town, then I went out to get a supermarket indian takeaway, and now he's gone to watch a programme on the laptop! Ah well!

Food = crap. Sorry

Franny, I bet if you looked at train/bus fares or hire cars, then the car club is cheaper and you definitely would be paying more in tax, insurance, servicing, repairs, mot, etc to have your own car and use it once a month for a family outing.

Hope Guad and Boco are having a fab time

Sorry if I haven't been commenting on other people's stuff lately but I do love to read what's going on with you all. Just can't do anything with it at the moment!

FrannyandZooey · 14/02/2009 20:34

avi, are you still there? tell me about topical steroids again please
didn't take it all in at time
am coming to nasty sinking feeling type conclusion that ALL the progress / relapses we have had with ds2's eczema are down to use / non-use of topical steroids
i hope i am wrong but i think i am right
it could easily be that not much else has made a difference
but when we stop / reduce use, it comes back
i think

FrannyandZooey · 14/02/2009 20:35

Sounds deliciois Fran.

Dh's had papaya in and they are nice big bits.

WE have just gorged on thai food.

But, they forgot my main course so dh had to drive back and get it, and get new rice as it was cold.

Pink, you must eat what you like as you are going to have a Baby v v soon
Called Little

I use steroid creams when the disconfort and pain becomes unbearable. In between, I try to manage it with various other lotions and potions but it seems very hard to find the cause. I do know mine is aggravated by stress but that can be hard to avoid.

I, too, have muesli envy. I have played on that site all afternoon which is totally pointless because I am 4000 miles away.

FrannyandZooey · 14/02/2009 22:31

oh bunny have you had it since a child?
i was not happy about the steroids at first and said no we didn't want them
then the eczema got worse and ds2 was getting miserable and scratching all the time and nappy changes seemed intolerable and i went and asked for them
and they work
i do want results
and i get extremely stressed and anxious when he is miserable and scratching

avi did you not also say it was the only thing which shifted the discoid eczema? how did you get rid of it in the end? sorry for asking for same information again, so many people have advised me on it

i can hardly bear to think about dust mites
i so hate housework and we seem so busy all the time (i guess we are not, we don't really do that much, but it seems it, and i feel tired and over stretched already)
our bedroom is dusty, i do know that
it has bare floor boards and for some reason is dustiest room in house - i suppose because 3 people in there every night flaking their skin around!
