For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Possibly.

Good on you for dealing with ds anxiety Franny. It would be easier to ignore and carry on regardless, but you are facing it.

TigerFeet · 16/02/2009 21:29

Hello, just breezing through on the way to bed but I thought of you all this evening when Morrisey was on The One Show. Coincidentally dh's boss was on the very same One Show at the end of last week talking about cauliflower going out of fashion. I need to get a life and stop watching Adrian Farking Chiles.

FairLadyRantALot · 16/02/2009 23:01

Brilliant link Franny, might look into it for DS.

I wish we had seen the most recent counsellor from the beginning with him. To a cerain extent, whilst appreciating the help we got, I think seeing 4 different people was a mistake. We needed to get to know someone to relax with them so that our guards were dropped instead of being on our best behaviour and trying to do and say the right thing each time we met someone new.

However No4 was the first to acknowledge that yes, my depression and health issues had an impact on my parenting and subsequently DS's development, but that the reverse was also true. Without having diagnosable conditions, some children, as with some adults are simply challenging.

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when he asked H if he always felt that everybody had got it in for him though. I think I laughed nervously....

Anyway...any verdict on smoothies? It is only important at the moment because they are easy to drink when my mouth is bad. I keep getting little ulcers as well. so pleeease

I got out for a steady 10k, it was a fabulous evening for running. I am getting a rowing machine, was considering a treadmill for when I can't get out but figured it would be good to work some different muscles and get rid of my jelly belly!

Not bad at all FairLady....we all need to recharge our parental batteries on a daily basis.

SuperBunny · 17/02/2009 05:21

Lentil and veg soup (2?)
Grapes

Where's the moosli Franny? Where's the baby Pink? How was the sex, Molly?

Can anyone remind me why cosleeping with a 3.6 yr old is not only okay but a good thing? Ex kicking up a fuss (also re DS not eating meat with me and it is my fault that DS sucks his thumb and bites his nails...)

In the spirit of playful parenting, DS and I played with dolls today to work on a few things. Every conversation began:

DS: Hi Mummy's doll/ dinosaur/ Lego man. What's your name?
Me: Um, my name is Bill. What's yours?
DS: I'm Bill too!

TooTicky · 17/02/2009 06:35

Fairlady, a day away from your children/ Wow! That must have been liberating.

Atilla, keep going with the smoothies regardless. The vit C should help with ulcers. As will sleeping insyead of MNing at odd hours

SB, oh dear, ex really is kicking up over everything, isn't he?
The co-leeping with a 3yo is a tricky one because it is quite hardcore and some people do see it as lunacy
Maybe seek examples from other cultures? Either 3 In a Bed or the big pink book by Deborah Jackson (can't remember title) good for information you could research further.
Vegetarianism is fine though and not extreme, this really is petty fuss onnhis part.

AtillaTheHoney · 17/02/2009 06:57

SB...no advice on co-sleeping, or exes to be truthful but I think you should trust in your own judgement. Many children have some form of comfort habit. DD waould love a dummy at 6 but it is a personal thing not an issue of blame and your exes negative attitude towards you and your parenting are probably a damn sight more damaging than anything you are or aren't allegedly doing right or wrong.

DD chooses to be almost vegetarian (will eat cod) and she is pretty healthy, she stopped eating meat of her own accord when she was about 2 1/2. We never got to the bottom of why, but are fine with it.

Have a manly 10/10ers hug and a large china cup of earl grey tea and sod him try noy to worry.

In my new found role as a fish whisperer, I think on reflection, Rose would prefer company in her psychodelic, neon tank to having a bit of extra space, she is lonely.....

AtillaTheHoney · 17/02/2009 08:29

I think I have formed a deep link with Rose. When I sit at the computer she errrr...sits in the corner nearest me and 'watches' me...lol, and she prefers over head lighting to side lighting as it casts more shadows..

I wonder when she will start moving gravel......

I am working with the dc's today.....they are bickering. Is there a parentline?

Can I be adopted?

Well lovely vegger bitches ladies, have a fab day, with much joy and frivolity and put the kettle on at about 12.30......, humming 'always look on the bright side'...

FrannyandZooey · 17/02/2009 09:14

there is parentline, yes, i have found them very helpful also
i can't believe all this great help that is available for free
fairlady i think young minds go up to 25 years old but i could have made that up
their aim is to improve the mental health of young people so i would think they would try to help with any topic that was causing mental distress to a young person?

i forgot to list yesterday must focus

blueberries
apple
banana
raisins
beetroot
red pepper
chickpeas
baked beans
hummus
tofu
mushrooms
leeks

i did scrambled tofu (mash and fry with turmeric and soy sauce) and dp thought it was egg! mind you he was knackered
