For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I woke up this morning feeling generally wrong, and then got sudden excruciating tummy pain that made me sick so assumed my appendix were exploding or something dramatic and terrible. It was so painful I cried. Dp was really sympathetic and went out but he did take the noisy children with him which was good. I took too much codeine and slept for 4 hours. No idea what it was but now feel a bit shaky.

However, I've tried to retain FOCUS this evening.
and ate
sweet potato
onion
carrot
borlotti beans
red peppers
juice
mango

Oh Atilla, I cycled for 30 minutes and did about 2 miles

I think I might have quite a way to go to do 5 miles in 20 mins

But it was a start. The worst thing is I am nervous of cycling in traffic and start wobbling the moment I think about indicating.

I need to get used to being on a bike again as well as increasing my fitness.

FrayedKnot · 08/02/2009 20:37

Oww Boco that sounds horrible.

AtillaTheMmmmSweetAsHoney · 08/02/2009 20:37

Sorry......distracted by ishooes....

Eveyone very busy, have read thread but would take a lot of space to catch up.

However for ill people or stressed ones...or pregnant ones....healing and supportive {{hugs}} and {{vibes}} as appropriate.

Not a lot to tell.

My DD does that Pink...she is now 6 and feels safe in her pyjamas and in bed.

I would rather not shop anywhere...a catalogue and a (soya) latte, is about what I can manage. But Ikea has its good points.

DD and I have had a giggly girly day, DS is never in but a superstar for me when he is. My training him to bribe me with outrageous compliments is starting to pay off..

I tell you having a DS is tops!!!!

Guadalupe · 08/02/2009 20:38

I am terrified of traffic on a bike too, FK. I rarely do it at all.

Boco - was it where your appendix is? Could it be ovaries, deoends where you are in your cycle I guess. IBS can be surprisingly excruciating sometimes too.

AtillaTheMmmmSweetAsHoney · 08/02/2009 20:39

FK, to be fair I have been cycling for 20 years..(no wonder I am knackered!!). I couldn't remember my times when I started...but I think it is Brilliant that you are doing it at all. It doesn't take long to build up. so keep at it.

AtillaTheMmmmSweetAsHoney · 08/02/2009 20:45

As far as cycling in traffic is concerned...ALWAYS get quite well into the road. Being as assertive as possible will be better for you in the end.

Lorries are a nightmare and make absolutely certain you can see THEIR mirrors so they can see you.

Bright colours are really important and sports places do low price High-visibility jackets quite cheaply.

The indicating turning gets easier with time but I admit I still hate roundabouts because they turn good drivers into blind idiots.....speaking generally of course.

AtillaTheMmmmSweetAsHoney · 08/02/2009 20:47

Boco....I agree with Guad. Have had IBS and ovary probs... hope you are better now.

FairLadyRandySlut · 08/02/2009 20:49

Boco, BBBee and all those in need of hugs or similar.....hope things get better....

Atilla...lol at you bribing your ds to pay you compliments...
my ds's, especially my ys, are very good at that...

erll...had the last bit of left over chinese...peppers/onions/pineapple/bambooshoots....about 1 portion, makes, erm...3....FOCUS must FOCUS more!!!!!!!!

TooTicky · 08/02/2009 21:16

Oh Boco, that sounds horrid. I do hope you feel better soon.

FrannyandZooey · 08/02/2009 21:21

boco
hope you are less shaky now

have eaten one of these bars which was actually nice and claims to be one of your 5 a day
so a rather dubious 11 from me

Guadalupe · 08/02/2009 21:30

They look interesting.

TooTicky · 08/02/2009 21:32

Franny have you tried their flavoured raisins? They are quite amazing

TooTicky · 08/02/2009 21:33

Oh hello Guad

Guadalupe · 08/02/2009 21:36

Hello

What are they flavoured with?

TooTicky · 08/02/2009 21:38

With natural fruitness somehow. There are lemon ones and cherry ones and something else I think. Nice and tangy.

Guadalupe · 08/02/2009 21:40

Hmm, will look out for them.

FairLadyRandySlut · 08/02/2009 21:42

those bars sound very interesting....

AtillaTheMmmmSweetAsHoney · 08/02/2009 21:43

Lol at bar names Franny....thought you were joining the naturists among us for a minute there!!

FrannyandZooey · 08/02/2009 21:48

they are nice an d chewy - sweet but not too sweet - and most importantly dairy free

right ds2's skin
it's heaps better
now the thing is we can't tell whether this is
-emollient
-dairy freeness
-hydrocortisone
-the flare up just going away

??? what to do next

OP posts:
TooTicky · 08/02/2009 21:50

if it were me, i would get eliminate one thing, probably the hydrocortisone, and see how that went, and if it was okay, work from there

Guadalupe · 08/02/2009 21:54

Well, enjoy it being better first of all, then like Toot says maybe drop the steroid cream as you don't want to be using that if it's not helping.

Of course you must ask for proper advice as these are just our opinions.

FrannyandZooey · 08/02/2009 21:54

ye-es
i think it could be a precarious balance of all 3 things
it's taken over a month to get to this point - i am loath to mess with it - it still hasn't GONE anyway, just loads better
h/c use quite minimal atm - just trying to clear a stubborn bit

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 08/02/2009 21:55

yes guad
we see specialist on thurs
i expect will say have this stronger cream go back on milk and moisturise him for the rest of his life
