It Ain't Nece-celery So - 10 / 10 thread - with new ADDED FOCUS

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Strawberries
Blueberries#

mollyroger · 08/02/2009 18:55

oh my excersise is walking to and from cinema and dancing to Always look on the bright side of life with ds2...

Boco · 08/02/2009 18:58

I have been in bed all day apart from an hour in the middle. Not eaten anything but dp has made dinner so will eat now.

BBBee · 08/02/2009 19:03

i went to relate.

i shall try and sum it up in the number of words befitting your attention span (if you have got this far....):

me = angry, unforgiving and given up
him = depressed, selfish and unco-operative

he has to go on his own next week. it is not fun but feels better in a kind of 'trying' way (minus £48) (yes £48!)

BBBee · 08/02/2009 19:04

boco are you ill or were you just tired?

molly - will watch those with dcs after new simpsons.

mollyroger · 08/02/2009 19:04

dear lord. I hope you got chocolate biscuits out of it...otherwise, sounds like a singularly depressing experience.

BBBee · 08/02/2009 19:05

franny - i wasn't arond to comment on your friend but i think i would have done the same as you. it is down to him now if he getrs in touch or not.

mollyroger · 08/02/2009 19:07

I'm sorry for flippancy, darling BBeee. Is my default mode when i really don't know what to say.

TooTicky · 08/02/2009 19:08

Boco, are you okay?

Bee, that sounds grim.

Anybody got any spare focus?

FrayedKnot · 08/02/2009 19:08

BBBee why does DP have to go on his own next time? Do you feel like you got somehwere today (even if only sort of identofying your feelings?).

Boco, are you ill?

I am slowly getting the sore throaty swollen glandy thing DS has had for 3-4 days now.

He went to bed at 5pm for an hour, and is now a lot perkier. I am fading fast and he needs a bath.

DH is putting up DS' new bed that we got from e-Bay.

We have some Ikea things, and usually attempt to commit relationship suicide whenever we visit.

TooTicky · 08/02/2009 19:11

Lully, don't feel bad. We have had more days like that than I care to remember.

Swedes · 08/02/2009 19:13

Franny - perhaps your ex boyfriend finds it very difficult, painful even, to be in touch with you? Especially seeing your family grow, whilst acknowledging to himself that he might never find someone with whom to have children. Perhaps you glow with contentment (and vitamins) and that makes him feel terrible?

Boco Sorry you are feeling poorly.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/02/2009 19:17

Just popping in to list, then I'm going to have a bath and take a book to bed as I am knackered.

banana
bluberries
raspberries
oj
melon
apple
carrot
cucumber
pineapple

BBBee · 08/02/2009 19:18

no don;t wory about flippancy molly - i do it all the time.

it wasn't really very depressing or sad - quite nice because things are being sorted.

dp going on his own next time because i did the first appointment on my own - to even it up i guess.

BBBee · 08/02/2009 19:19

and no choclate biscuits (but a rather horrid coffee from subway - ick!)

pinkspottywellies · 08/02/2009 19:27

We love going to Ikea and must be the only people ever who don't fall out there!!

BBB sounds rotten but glad it's doing some good.

We just got a load of baby stuff down from the loft - bouncy chair, play gym etc. OH MY GOD I'm having a baby!!!! (not now. don't panic!! In about 3 weeks )

Right a question for you. What self-respecting 2 year-old gets into bed of her own accord at half past 5, refuses a story and settles herself off to bed.

BBBee · 08/02/2009 19:32

a tired, happy and secure one pink.

littlerach · 08/02/2009 19:36

Pink, we get on well at ikea too.

Dh has finished construcitng all of the furniture, well the whole 2 things
And...he has promised to sort out all of hi spiles of papaer/magazines/stuff by next weekend
And......he will even sort out his crap cupbaords and chuck stuff out

(My mum is ocming for half term)

Carrots
sweetcorn
mange touts
peppers
tomatoes
pear - delicious one.

pinkspottywellies · 08/02/2009 19:47

Thanks BBB

We like the meatballs at Ikea

Nighty night veggers. I'm going to try and find somewhere to put the 300 disposable nappies that MIL has bought us then have a bath and go to bed.

FrannyandZooey · 08/02/2009 19:49

gosh what a nice newsy thread

lully we have all done it
i often feel guilty the moment ds1's head hits the pillow - they look so innocent and you feel such a cowbag

guad oh sorry lol
i have just had loads of people walk into our sitting room and say "oh ikea"

pink you're having a BABY

Bee i think you are right to do it and the money is a good investment if any resolution comes of it

Fruit salad x4.
green beans.
tomatoes. x2
juice.
Banana.

A long walk.

BBBee · 08/02/2009 20:24

i took boco's advice and looked at fruit in the co-op - got £2.79 of blueberries for £1 and 2 punnets of plums for £1.

fruit from co-op is usually crap (hence me not looking) but blueberries hurrah whatever and plums in crumble.

FrayedKnot · 08/02/2009 20:31

I forgot to list

Shepherds Pie with beans and carrots
Red cabbage
Leeks
Apple & rhubarb compote

We put up DS' bed, he insisted he slept in it, even though we do not have the right sized mattress yet

He is perched in this giant cabin bed thingie on a cot bed mattress

Don;t worry, he can;t fall out, it just looks a bit odd
