For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

oh my dear god 100
i am quite shaken up just at the thought
how did it get so high so suddenly?

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 11/02/2009 21:12

Oh the river burst its bank, but apparently further up, in the next village up, they had done something can't remember what, but anyway some bastard had done something to save somewhere and flooded us instead. It was those terrible rains in 2001.

FairLadyRandySlut · 11/02/2009 21:14

I am, again, very sorry, because I have not properly caught up with this thread...I am usedless right now...
been on an away day with teh Department that my Placement is in...it was an event with Physios/Adminstaff and the Ot's...was intersting enough...and will be able to tick my box about Multidisciplinery Team and stuff...

Anyway, F&V was dire today...only 2 1/2 portions (1Banana, 1 Apple and some lettuce/cucumber/Tomato, Onion and Peppers on the Sandwiches and in my Subway Baguette )
Back on track and focussed again tomorrow...promise...it was just awkward today....buffet for lunch and then dh told me that they had a KFC , so, I stopped of at Subway...hohum!

So...what is going on with everyone?

Franny you still flooded?

LittelRach definitely get in contact with GP and get referral....

FK, 5 year olds can be hard work...my now 6 year old can be an utter nightmare....he just doesn't listen and is soooo ueber noisy-often purposely- and he can jsut be really tiring...not helped by the fact that he loves teasing his ounger Bro and that he also is one of those Kids always on the go....
might be worth trying Omega supplements and food....can't do any harm anyhow...

Flood sounds awful. Our conservatory used to flood whenever there was heavy rain. I was always swilling out bowls of water and that was bad enough. It didn't really affect our furniture though. I can't imagine it being in the house.

womblingalong · 11/02/2009 22:04

Baked Beans
Apple

100, flooding sounds absolutely traumatic. How close is the water now Franny?

When I lived in Kenya, my mum's aunt's apartments were flooded. They were positioned at the bottom of a hill, and the houses were flooded so quickly, the maid's baby was asleep in a crib on the ground floor, and was drowned before they could rescue it. Oh god, it was so horrific, it makes me shiver just thinking about it.

DD came home with a cut nose, lip and cheek from school today, apparently she fell over while playing hide and seek with another girl in her class. I am a bit upset that her lovely face is hurt, and she has been teary all evening before bed. Apparently the girl she was playing with punched another girl in her class today as well

OsmosisBanana · 11/02/2009 22:11

womb, are you suspicious? Long time no see me ol' recycler

FrayedKnot · 11/02/2009 22:18

Oh dear the flooding thing is awful. Is there still a problem for your area Franny?

I just ate some dark chocolate with cayenne. It had a definite kick to it!

DH is insistent we eat a small amount of dark chocolate every day since he read somehwere about the antioxident levels so we are trying out different sorts

womblingalong · 11/02/2009 22:19

Hello OsBa,

You've been having a tough time recently, how are you doing?

I'm not suspicious as such, just think that this girl might be a little too aggressive. Not saying that DD is an angel, at all, but she is not a thug (she is about 10 inches shorter than everyone else, and lighter than her 22 month old brother, so no chance of that!

FrannyandZooey · 11/02/2009 22:27

hello wombling, it's not at all near my house in the grand scheme of things
we are near the river that has burst, and on the environment agency website it says our street is dodgy, but there's plenty more room left to go and it should be getting better now
i hope

FrannyandZooey · 11/02/2009 22:28

i think injuries to faces v upsetting wombling
hope she is ok

womblingalong · 11/02/2009 22:33

FK

Wish I had a DH who encouraged chocolate consumption!

Franny, I am sure she will be ok in the morning, but just the thought of her being hurt when I am not there to sort it out/comfort her is a little upsetting.

On aother mattr, have you got any advice on getting children to dry at night, anyone?

DD 4.25, is very reluctant to give up her pull-up, despite a few attempts. Not sure how to proceed.

I have said if she has 7 dry pullups in a row then she can have stickers, and choose a new toy, but not sure if this is the right strategy.

FrannyandZooey · 11/02/2009 22:40

i am usually a bit of rewards for this kind of thing but with ds1 i told him we would put the money saved from nappies aside and do something nice with it
it seemed like a sensible reinforcement thing
he was quite anxious about not having nappies but coped physically when we took them off (we ran out on purpose and didn't buy more, so there was no going back!)
we didn't reward for dryness as i felt that was partly out of his control
we rewarded for going nappyless
he would have had a wet nappy for the rest of his life had he stayed in them - they were never dry
but without one he could hold on till morning - it's a bit of a mystery, night time bladder control isn't it

OP posts:
stuffitllama · 12/02/2009 03:20

100 what a terrible flooding experience, that is truly awful.

I agree about the nappy thing somehow it registers in their sleep that they can't but it is a great leap of faith. I had a wetter in a top bunk (yes he was too young to be up there but needs must) and that was shocking hard work. But the others seemed to "know" -- but would wee in a pull up.

Lully, he seems so unhappy and the school seem intent on rebuke rather than understanding. Hope you can work it out with them.

A banana.

Thanks for sterilizing sympathy. I think Womble is coming to my rescue.

to all fb-ers: I've just de-activated my account.

SuperBunny · 12/02/2009 03:27

Why have you deactivated, stuffit?

stuffitllama · 12/02/2009 03:27

FK it's so nice that your dh is on board. Mine is a nutritional eye roller. He's lovely but sometimes I feel a bit head-patted about it.

These boys, they need to run around such a lot. They have so much energy that can become negative if hemmed in. Fairlady I just think of the fire and energy of 6-10yo boys and wonder how they use it at all. Mine bounces until two seconds before sleep then bang crash asleep then in the morning bang crash up again just like a border collie.

Sorry too much chat for one banana.

stuffitllama · 12/02/2009 03:29

Well things started happening that I didn't do, applications and presents and so on. I'll start again but keep it smaller.

SuperBunny · 12/02/2009 03:34

Oh, someone else has had their FB account hijacked. It's a bit worrying.

Sorry about DS, Lully

stuffitllama · 12/02/2009 03:37

Yes luckily it's not connected to a mail account I use or has the same password as anything else I use. I read about the other one.. lost her hotmail too.

SuperBunny · 12/02/2009 03:55

Yeah, I got weird emails from her

stuffitllama · 12/02/2009 03:55

an unsterilized apple

stuffitllama · 12/02/2009 03:57

another friend had her fb account hijacked too
it's all so time-wasting

SuperBunny · 12/02/2009 03:59

Ah crap. Have toyed with deactivating mine (again) but I really like to use it to keep in touch with people...

TooTicky · 12/02/2009 06:58

Stufit, will you be re-activating?

hello S, keep missing you again.

AtillaTheHoney · 12/02/2009 08:10

SO busy am finding it difficult to find time to sit down and read and comment on the thread....sorry...

Haven't got the day off today now but it is for a lovely customer so I only half mind....

Where would I find 'spatone'?, we have limited shops around here and if I have to go elsewhere I am not good at trawling around shops and trying to find things.

Awww.....don't deactivate FB SB.....

Mouth is much improved!!, thanks for all the advice...have tried nearly all of it

Hope DD is feeling better todat wombling...

Must dash...., fab (dry) day to all..x

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/02/2009 08:37

You should be able to get spatone from a pharmacy/chemist or a health food shop. If not, I can recommend Floradix - but get the yeast free one Feather.

My sister is going to be on BBC Radio Essex this morning. I'm sooooo excited! She's talking about the Salma Hayek thing. I'm listening to the station now and the DJ's are awful. I don't think my sister will be able to have heavy debate about it tbh. Am still excited though!
