For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hmm, yes, I'd quite like a private dining booth actually.

Reading sounds good, but dd1 can't read in her head and dd2 can't read at all. Maybe one day.

I have eaten an apple, which brings me to 11/10

PollyannaNutjob · 05/02/2009 20:24

i used to say "sit properly or get down" and as ds1 big fan of eating he would sit properly
well for about a minute

boco you could try The Family Dinner Game
she can't play it under the table

coconut NO NO NO NO

i am eating dairy free chocolate buttons
they taste like cooking chocolate

TooTicky · 05/02/2009 20:26

Thank you for hip concern.
I will do something I think, is so bad the last couple of months.

I think belts are usually for pg? I had one once, it made me feel squeezed and ill.

Boco, you do have a way with words

Reading mealtimes sound interesting...

TooTicky · 05/02/2009 20:28

oh, I know those buttons. They are odd.

LR, where did you find school info this morning? have been struggling. Do not phone LEA, they are useless. They pit me through to a gatekeeper of somewhere obscure sounding

pollycazalet · 05/02/2009 20:28

Yes, boco mine are 6 and 8, although as you can see from earlier post the food ishoos do not disappear, just mutate....

PollyannaNutjob · 05/02/2009 20:32

right

guad is too chicken to come and list

mango
melon
raisins
they were big portions - that was 4
i'm not going to stoop to decimal points like some people
coleslaw
chinese leaf
spinach
pinto beans
sprouted beans and seeds
tomato
cucumber
yellow pepper
that was 4 at least
banana
apple
grapes
peaches (which may have been tinned )

there was a baked potato as well, in retrospect that and the salad were mistakes, as they count for fuck all
hmm

well i'm full now

TooTicky · 05/02/2009 20:32

my oldest used to be quite ishooish, she is now quite an adventurous 12yo, there is hope...

TooTicky · 05/02/2009 20:37

I AM EATING SOME ITS OF RAW CARROT

PollyannaNutjob · 05/02/2009 20:38

LOL
stoppit
ds2 is asleep on me and my tummy is shaking now
he will wake up

FairLadyRantALot · 05/02/2009 20:39

oh toot, that sounds really unpleasant and painful
and I suppose because SPD loosens your ligaments to much it could mean that they are more likely to dislocate, and they will certainly feel looser, I would think...

lol Tigerfeet, at you sitting next to the teachers pet guad , in hope of it helping...

BBBee...all f& v loose some of their goodness if processed in any way...so...yes, it won't be as good...but pretty sure it will still do SOME good...

PollyannaNutjob...am glad you have discovered what the black twig things are...but what do you do with that than?
And wow, am impressed with your f&V count

pollyc...I hate it when you put effort into cooking and then they refuse to eat it....so gnash away quietly or otherwise...because I certainly understand ya...

Boco...oh dear, sorry about you also having food issues...Kids can be pains in the arses, can't they...

Well, I had more of yesterdays olognese...at least 2 portions, so, 9 so far....
will see if I can eat anything else...but feel mighty stuffed really...but maybe an apple later...

TooTicky · 05/02/2009 20:40

stop wot?

TooTicky · 05/02/2009 20:41

hmm, when you say more likely to dislocate...

BBBee · 05/02/2009 20:45

no Fk coconut does not count and i think you are over estimating your mushroom - once i have 5 and franny counted it as 2 portions and then she hit me with a stick - well maybe that las bit is elaboration, but either way it was one of the worst experiences of my life.

100 - i read those different meal methods as one meal rather than different meals and thought you were setting up picnic tables and putting plates under them and making everyone stand up.

boco - let her cook.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/02/2009 20:49

lol @ she hit me with a stick

FairLadyRantALot · 05/02/2009 20:49

well, your ligaments are what hold it all together...so, if they are loose, then they are not doing their job the way they should be...however, I am not sure just how much more likely, etc...I suppose it would depend on the extent...and I would think that if they were that loose that they could dislocate, then probably you wouldn't be able to walk, iykwim...
but defintely ask about it at GP or something like that...

AtillaTheHoney · 05/02/2009 20:49

I have no advice but you have my sympathies Toot.

WE had so many meal time ishooes...I gave up and often cook 3 or 4 meals, with a core carb base...picking my battles I suppose.

I did a stupid thing. and 'cleaned' my tongue and now it is sore(r), but I feel so dirty.

Can I nutritionally get everything I need for a week if I just have everything liquid based? Soups, smoothies, juices?

Iam not 'fed up' so much about it now but do need a practical solution to how to manage it.

FairLadyRantALot · 05/02/2009 20:51

Oh, I think dh is mulling wine....hmmmmmmmm

AtillaTheHoney · 05/02/2009 20:52

Oh and I tried yoghurt, but it just got worse and worse, which is why I went to the docs in the end.

AtillaTheHoney · 05/02/2009 20:53

I haven't had mulled wine for years. I have mulled apple juice instead, with a nice tart juice.

TooTicky · 05/02/2009 20:57

mmm, mulled apple juice...

PollyannaNutjob · 05/02/2009 20:57

toot you were making me laugh
"I AM EATING SOME ITS OF RAW CARROT"

lol

fairlady ixnay on the islocationday

AtillaTheHoney · 05/02/2009 21:02

Lol at BBees 'i think you are over-estimating your mushroom'....

Like fishermans tales....

my mushroom is bigger than yours...

FrayedKnot · 05/02/2009 21:02

I love mulled fruit juice, Tiny.

I'm sorry you are suffering so much. Could you have runnyish porridge (I hesitate to suggest readibrek but that sort of consistency)? Put some potato / sweet potato / parsnip etc in the soup so it is quite carby?

I would LOVE to have reading suppers.

Sorry the belt suggestion wasn;t very helpful TooT. I know sod all about SPD but it sounds horrible.

FrayedKnot · 05/02/2009 21:03

I so did not overestimate my mushroom. It was about 2ft diameter. never seen anything like 'em.
