Original post by the lovely FrannyandZooey

For anyone who wants to boost their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - If you don't normally eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 mins is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restictions on what you eat as long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving your energy levels and hopefully mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you are getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Oh, I can do choc BBee, (yes I am cream crackered), but no gin, am on AB's for sinusitis and ear infection. Am just hanging on by my fingertips, until DH is home. Banana milkshake sounds like a good idea, and DD has said yes she would like som, hurrah! She has also started to dance around the living room, so think she is on the mend.

Have put Tonic on shopping list 100!

BBBee · 01/02/2009 14:08

oh good womble - so things are picking up now aren't they. The gin wasn't a good idea - anywya I meant tea - I got confused with all the tonic.

I am going to listen to a play on the iplayer and fold the washing. Not iron it - fold it.

ahundredtimes · 01/02/2009 14:10

Poor you wombling, it sounds exhausting. And hooray for banana milkshake. There was loads of puddingy things on that building up after illness thread - custard and sponges and things like that.

DS1 is such a fidget, he's constantly on the move. I think he's one of those fidgeting people who are always thin because they burn it off kicking their legs when sitting down. I'm not like that AT ALL. Yes, we must maintain healthy attitude to food and not seek to over-feed them! Though having said that, rather predictably, my mother would be shouting CHICKEN SOUP at you now.

I like your mother Bee. I like her hugely.

Hope DH isn;t too long

FrayedKnot · 01/02/2009 14:22

I mean your DH, Wombling, not mine

TooTicky · 01/02/2009 14:31

Ooh, can you pre-order? But I won't, I shall buy from local independent bookshop.
What is the magic date 100x?

Wombling, my ds2 is a skinny wee thing and only ever seems to get slightly longer, never wider. His feet are positively skeletal. And yet he is the liveliest thing.
Happy, healthy vibes to dd

TooTicky · 01/02/2009 14:33

My fingers keep going numb but a horrible painful sort of numb and I have to squeeze them and they look all white and crumpled. I hate it.

FairLadyRantALot · 01/02/2009 14:35

Avi, that descrription of the film sounds like I felt about it...

littlerach...we have never ever run out of broadband....didn't know you could...

wombling your poor dd...sore mouth will stop her wanting much....icecream might be an option....will be soothing and calorific...

well...am freezing and I think this cold thing is totally stuffing my sinusses up...headachy and every time I bend down I get shooting pains through my head, sigh...blasted thing!
not done well at all in the 10/10....not had a f or v at all yet...but will have some with my roast later....hohum...

pollycazalet · 01/02/2009 14:39

There's an awful lot of pork action on this thread.

Am just thawing out from spending two and a half hours hours at footie watching ds. Can I have a proud moment? He's just that age where his lanky gawkiness has transformed into coordination and the beginnings of muscle and his inability to really concentrate has disappeared - I can see him watching and anticipating, running after every ball, throwing himself into it. And I speak as someone who is not remotely interested in football. But it's wonderful to see your kids being physically confident and brave.

Anyway my feet were so cold afterwards I am thinking of investing in those fur-lined granny boots. Or thermal socks.

Wombling I have had two skinny kids - ds only needs to miss a day's food and his ribs stick out and cheeks go hollow. We do bagels and hot chocolate for supper with cut-up bananas and scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast when I'm in full feeding-up mode.

TooTicky · 01/02/2009 14:39

coming your way FairLady

TooTicky · 01/02/2009 14:41

Polly, that's brilliant

My boots are furry on the inside...

FairLadyRantALot · 01/02/2009 14:51

awww polly...

thanks toot

womblingalong · 01/02/2009 14:57

thanks fk, me too

stuffitllama · 01/02/2009 15:45

hi Toot what's going on with the tingling numb fingers? do you have poor circulation?

computer says no quite a lot tonight

I have two skinny boys including one the size of a Christmas decoration ..it is worrying when small ones are ill as they do lose quickly but probably not more than others. I'm glad some energy came back Womble.

hurrah for ds Polly. I should think he is the best player on the field because mine are DEFINITELY.

three children including a teenager in bed by 8.15
normally it is like nailing jelly to the ceiling

I was firm

TooTicky · 01/02/2009 16:09

llamas should be firm

crap circulation I think, my toes are always freezing and they go numb too but numb numb not painful numb
fingers agony

stuffitllama · 01/02/2009 16:10

ouch
have you seen the hot charcoal pad things

TooTicky · 01/02/2009 16:13

no...sounds painful

stuffitllama · 01/02/2009 16:14

no idea if you've responded as my computer is sloooooow

but anyway they are in a small hand held packet and you put one inside your glove ..you scrunch it and it releases a warm chemical reaction ..like a hot water bottle for each hand

stuffitllama · 01/02/2009 16:15

you should get some..hold on

TooTicky · 01/02/2009 16:17

sounds interesting, do they work more than once?
Mind you, I rarely wear gloves...

stuffitllama · 01/02/2009 16:23

not quite the right thing but this is the idea

you could put them inside your marigolds
you could start wearing gloves though! around the house
fingerless ones like a sixth former

stuffitllama · 01/02/2009 16:25

also you can can get footwarmers

TooTicky · 01/02/2009 16:26

hmm, curious....
fingerless gloves would leave my numbest bits uncovered

stuffitllama · 01/02/2009 16:28

yeah but no but yeah but

because the circulation in the palms of your hands would be warmer it would reach your fingers too

i'm giving up on mn tonight Toot it's too slow

this will probably take ten minutes to load

night flower x
