Original post by the lovely FrannyandZooey

For anyone who wants to boost their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - If you don't normally eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 mins is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restictions on what you eat as long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving your energy levels and hopefully mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you are getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

god fairlady that is very rude of your mil! people are astonishing aren't they

SuperBunny · 31/01/2009 23:26

Ooo, am intrigued about Pink;s DS's name now.

I knew Janek but I think that is Polish and Americans can be good at saying foreign names.

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 23:27

ooh pink boco met that writer
we like that one too and wasn't it the name of his son?

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 23:28

and pink i think you'll find you are meant to be in bed now
[bossy]

TooTicky · 31/01/2009 23:29

Fairlady, I do love your dcs' names

FairLadyRantALot · 31/01/2009 23:34

Franny, well, nowadays I will excuse her...she has alzheimers very badly now....but the name thing isn't recent! BUt ah well, bless her, eh....
OH and I thought on that name thread in names you said it was the other way...but I am just all confused I think....I like both....and there is a nice character in ER of that name

SB yes Janek is polish and I know a little janek over here in the UK (his mum is polish) but Yannic/Yannick is french...but it's all a form of John/Johann...

oh Pink, I might be getting that book

pinkspottywellies · 31/01/2009 23:35

Ah yes I think it was his son's name. We went to the Donkey Sanctury near my mum's house and I read the book without looking at the picture on the cover so when I got to the 'reveal' it was a total surprise and I very nearly blubbed in the shop!!!

Fairlady sounds like your MIL's a bit batty I like all your's names. TooT I only know the name of your youngest I think. Are the others unusual too?

We're quite lucky I think in that we've totally agreed on first and middle names for dd and ds. I have a pg friend who is probably going to have to settle for a name they can both put up with cause she doesn't like the ones DH loves and he doesn't like the ones she loves I've just looked up our name on MN and the verdict is about 50/50 likes/snorts!!

FairLadyRantALot · 31/01/2009 23:37

oh, just looked at the link, and I think I may now understand why Flynn's teacher felt so so inclined to spell his name Flinn...which really annoyed me at the time, lol!

pinkspottywellies · 31/01/2009 23:37

I love that book. I might have to sneak into dd's room and read it before I go to bed

And I'm going now... I promise!!

pinkspottywellies · 31/01/2009 23:37

Oops - sanctuary!

BBBee · 01/02/2009 00:51

oh I had a good 10/10 lunch today - I wanted to tell you as I ate it.

I went to my parents and my dad had made it for me. It was puy lentils cooked with onion and garlic. He heated them up in the microwave with some creme fraiche and served it with loads of black pepper. I was very very very nice and easy and delicious and substainial and wintery. I really recommend it.

pink go to bed.

FairLadyRantALot · 01/02/2009 01:04

sounds lovely BBBee...
and I only just realised what the time is....flipping 'eck...best be off to bed...

BBBee · 01/02/2009 01:18

it was very very nice. my dad kept going on about the 'complete meal'-ness of it.

FK we went to the natural history museum last weekend - was busy but if you pretend the diansours aren't there and find other bits it was lovley. The downstairs picnic area was a big success!

I am going to stew the apples. I am going to ignore the dorset apple cake recipe I found because that is just a cakey way of doing 10/10.

I hope boco is having a nice time.

stuffitllama · 01/02/2009 06:05

morning
tenners seem to choose lovely names ..Toot's are wonderful, Loosh is marvellous, Yannic, Sven, all terrific. (we know a Yannick.. ds2 best friend..he is friend.. I had never heard the name before). I have two normal and a weird one that is never got right.

There is apple fever here. Just made an apple pie without stewing the apples. I keep typing applies which is nicer I think. Anyhow, left the skins on and sliced. We'll see.

Pink hope you are fine this morning but your to do list is nuts.
Dh can paint shelves, put up cot, get moses basket down, put up curtain rails and curtains and buy cot mattress. You do not need to clean behind the washing machine, no one does. The excess stuff in his room will go into a big cardboard box unsorted and put in the garage until you have more time.

So that leaves you with packing your hospital bag and watching Oprah for two weeks.

Ok you will ignore and do what feels right to you which is all good and proper but do take it a bit easier.

Bbee the lentil thing sounds nutritious and delicious.

stuffitllama · 01/02/2009 06:06

erm french not friend

TinySparklyWhiteFeather · 01/02/2009 07:47

You made Apple pie stuffit......where are you? Oh now I have Apple-pie cravings again, but I have tons to do before I can make mine.

Send us a slice.......

I never stew the Apples and have as little sugar as posssible. lush.

Like the music on my phone.

I re-did my playlist last night and it is now sublime..Will have to go running to get the full benefit of it

Jay Sean is growing on me and his track ride-it, is like warm honey

Contented music-head sigh....

Pink, try and take it easy and come on here to be nagged keep us informed as to your well being.

I am sending my ironing ninjas to steal your ironing.

Am awake enough now not to burn holes in peoples clothes so will go and fire up the iron.

Good morning to all. xxx

TinySparklyWhiteFeather · 01/02/2009 08:05

this is my current life theme tune though

littlerach · 01/02/2009 10:17

Oh I like that feather.

We ran out of Broadband last night

It was Terrible.

WE seemt o have downloaded too much , according to dh.

So it has taken me a slice of toast and cup of coffee to catch up.

And now I've forgotten

Avi, did you like the film?

Pink, hope you are ok, glad you called the MW.

TooT, a laptop, how lovely.

It's just stopped snowing here. It looked very odd, there seemed to be as much snow going up as coming down, it was whirling all over the place.

Pomegranate, banana, passion ruit, pineapple and blueberry fruit salad, at least three portions.

Dcs want to go swimming. We go swimming so little that ds2 has bever been. Who said it was like walking around in a giant petri-dish? That's how I feel.

littlerach · 01/02/2009 11:04

I detest swimming.
It is the getting dresses/undressed, dry/wet rigmarole that gets to me.

Abroad, in the sun, relaxing, then swimming is good.

snow.

Avi, lunch?? Are you not coooking?

Guadalupe · 01/02/2009 11:06

Exactly, it's the dressing, and getting in and then getting out. And it's not that gret in there so the whole thing really.

Avi - I quite enjoyed Juno but wasn't bowled over by it. I like the soundtrack.

I am cooking pig later. I don't think it is a recipe for a dieter.

TigerFeet · 01/02/2009 11:08

Morning all

Pink glad all is well, itchy palms can be a symptom of Obstetric Cholestasis (liver/bile salts type pg complaint which can be horrid) - a friend of mine had it and had to be induced at (iirc) 38 weeks so

Hope all the poorly dc's are improved today

DD has a party in Skegness today and it's sleeting [harrumph]. The venue is right on the sea shore. It is going to be wonderful

eek at running out of broadband, we run perilously close sometimes, but apparently the cost of extra GB's isn't too bad on our particular plan so I pay no heed to my usage

[ency] @ laptopping in bed

Your children do have wonderful names, my dd has a perennial top 10 name which rather lets the side down I fear

mollyroger · 01/02/2009 11:08

oh guad, we had the most divine belly pork lst weekend. There was enough for 6 but we ate it all

I cannot face leaving the house, given I am cold just sitting here inside, dressed. So bored though.

Guadalupe · 01/02/2009 11:09

Anyone watch Jamie saves our bacon? It's that one. Big steaming crackly belly full of flaky meat with a crispy top. Also stuffing and braised cabbage and maple parsnips and Kale.

I think we will have vanilla poached pears with ice-cream for pudding. Dh would like pear bakewell. I think it is unnecessary.
