For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

sorry 100

FK i am going to eat eggs. lots of them. tomorrow. it's a darn fine plan.

Tatties didn't come and see all her balloons and buffet and things

Boco · 26/01/2009 22:19

Herons are my personal favourite. It always seems so lucky to see one. (unless you're 100x)

They're quite like pterodactyls though.

apple
tomatoes
celery
onion
sweetcorn
pepper
courgette
oranges

  1. And loads of walking.
FrannyandZooey · 26/01/2009 22:22

i want to see one plunge down and catch something. ds1 was so thrilled by it too, he said "this is my best ever bird and i want to stay here all day watching it"

sorry 100 this thread might as well be a write off for you i think

Guadalupe · 26/01/2009 22:27

I thought herons were unlucky, or maybe that's just if they fly close to the house.

Guadalupe · 26/01/2009 22:31

Yes, if they fly over your house or land in the garden.

One flew past my bedroom window once when I was writing an essay. I can't remember what the outcome was.

It really did. I thought it was Dumbo out of the corner of my eye.

FrayedKnot · 26/01/2009 22:32

Franny tomorrow

I can;t believe Avi pissed up a tree

Boco · 26/01/2009 22:35

Did Avi have a shewee?

Well I feel lucky Guad, regardless of folklore. It's unlucky if they land in your garden and eat all your fish, they used to do that when we lived on the Norfolk broads.

I have seen kingfishers at the river here, that's always very lucky too.

Tatties · 26/01/2009 22:45

Just on way to bed - thank you all for birthday wishes and balloons and buffet

FrannyandZooey · 26/01/2009 22:46

FrannyandZooey · 26/01/2009 22:47

Tatties · 26/01/2009 22:48

It's ok, I stuffed myself at lunch

Tatties · 26/01/2009 22:50

WOW! yes you should buy them

FrannyandZooey · 26/01/2009 22:51

oh, ok then

Boco · 26/01/2009 22:55

Yes. You could fashion a tinfoil hat and nose and pretend to be the tin man.

Tatties · 26/01/2009 22:56

Right must go to bed. Night night all xx

SuperBunny · 27/01/2009 00:30

Feather, are you any better?

Nice bird news, Franny. I saw lots of robins here last week. But American robins are actually of the turdus genus, so are more like British blackbirds (turdus turdus) I say yes to silver wellies

TinyWhiteFeather · 27/01/2009 00:53

Yes, a little thank-you SB, and all . The doctor did warn me there would be side effects and I sort of accept it with most meds, but oh joy, that was a meany.

Still treading water and waiting for overall improvement, and must confess am a bit low emotionally, but the problem is, in the past I would feel like this and go for a hard run and shake it, and at the moment that is not an option. I really miss just getting my running shoes on and taking off for an hour.

I do focus on the fact that it will improve but I do get frustrated. My energy comes in waves and there is so much I want to do in that space, it just isn't possible at the moment. The run I did on sunday was fabulous but I walked at least half of the uphill where I used to run it all, and it is difficult not to be disappointed, and just at the moment, it is hard to imagine ever getting back to that point.

Positive vibes would be gratefully received...or a kick up the rear!

SuperBunny · 27/01/2009 00:57

Sounds unpleaseant, Feather. Sorry about the running. I can't go again til Friday and I'm itching to go. You can gurantee that by Friday I will have lost all motivation.

Hope it all gets easier x

TinyWhiteFeather · 27/01/2009 01:07

How are you anyway? All of you?

Franny, you must get the silver wellies.

Oi! Avi, I was sitting in that tree! harrumph.

You amy be cuddling me for sometime TF, I LIKE hugs.

I want to be in a geographical triangle....so if I am one in UK, and SB will be one in USA, who will be our third?

I have bird Franny, haven't seen anything new for a while but watched a delighful little group of long tailed tits the other day and they are so pretty and sweet natured.

Lully, you have my heart felt sympathies over DS's school eating. DD is the same, but they don't make her eat, so she comes from school having had a couple of tiny bites of sandwich and the other odd morsel, and is crabby as a result

I don't know what the solution is, but the last thing you need is the poor little treasure having food issues as a result. I hope you can resolve it soon.
And a big {{hug}} over your Grandma. I hope she heals soon and you have some beautifull times left to have with her, you sound lucky to have each other..

TinyWhiteFeather · 27/01/2009 01:10

Oh, I will try and keep you motivated SB. I am cycling a little as it is a lot less physically demanding, so all is not lost.
Has all your snow gone yet?

SuperBunny · 27/01/2009 01:33

No, it hasn't been above freezing for weeks so we still have snow. It's only minus 10 today but more snow is forecast for tomorrow. Excellent
