For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

for you SB. It is such a drag being cold.

BBBee · 27/01/2009 04:20

oh dear - right hello.

well done toot - that appointment must have been hard and it seems like you managed to cover all points.

i get a bit confused with all the texting and facebooking stuff too. why on earth is avi pissing up a tree? or is that crochet talk?

boco - did you do anything to stop him pooing or was it circumstance? and have you eaten anything nice? I am worried it is all dropped casseroles and raw potatoes.

lunch boxes lully, i think a yhoghurt or soemthing to fill him up is good advice - do the veggies when he gets home. if not you could steam the carrots so they are easier to eat.

fmv - who was the prime minster at the end of the first world war?

heron - i like them but they eat frogs, and that is mean, but is also circle of life. they seem to be meaningful - i spent ages watching one on the last day of my horrid job when i hid in a park.

um, cushion for pink, duvet for tiger. baby vibes.

feather - it must be horrid adn worring. i hope you are getting RL support because it sounds like what you need.

was i bad to laugh about the cd that mr franny made? I was wasn't I? get the wellies but if the sun glints off them the heron will see you. also you might get cross when they get muddy adn grey adn so you will refuse to go in any mud and only walk in clear streams.

I get cross at thsi thread because it is a great title that I did slightly wrong.

phew. have forgotten things and people.

happy tatties.

Bee thatwas a silly time to be up. I hope you also slept.

I didn't cover everything but feel suitably rummaged and exposed

Feather, I hope you got sleep as well you poor thing.

Franny, I see herons quite a bit here by the canal, come for a walk with me. Or phone me while I am walking and I can tell you about them

TooTicky · 27/01/2009 07:00

SB, it sounds like The Long Winter. You do have food supplies, don't you? You don't have to raid the Wilder Boys' seed wheat?

TinyWhiteFeather · 27/01/2009 07:04

What a fabulous post BBee.....made me .

I am getting some lovely support in RL generally but I am an awkward sod quite reserved and generally just make a big joke about it all. So I am stangely more open on here, when sometimes I just want to curl up and howl and feel thoroughly miserable and sorry for myself. My gynee appointment isn't until early march so I must just get on. I wouldn't dream of admitting in RL that I am actually quite scared.

Ahh, the strange benefits of the age of technology, 'tis like cyber-confessional.

Anyhow, nothing is actually achieved by curling up and feeling monumentally sorry for myself so I guess I'll just take a chill pill and give myself a shake.

Top of the morning to y'all. Feel free to throw cushions at me and chase me out of the yurt if I look glum

FrannyandZooey · 27/01/2009 08:25

well you made a start at least toot
do you have further appointments? i think you did well. hope that doesn't sound patronising

bee lol at all
yes everyone very entertained by the unsuitable cds
except me

are you ok bee? hope you are not up at that time every night

lully i forgot to say your spa sounds like my idea of the afterlife if i am REALLY good

ds2 slept beautifully...till 5 am then lay going "bleh bleh bleh bleh bleh" and doing fake coughing (latest trick) until 6.30 am when he was just dropping off, then ds1 came in i don't know how those of you with more than 2 children ever get ANY sleep at all
he scratches more when tired so has had a good old go at himself
things aren't really improving much i don't think
not sure whether to go back to doctor who has basically said she doesn't know much about it, or wait 2 weeks for specialist

Guadalupe · 27/01/2009 08:39

I could not sleep AT ALL last night, my legs were stiff and my mind was racing. Is it common to have sleep problems when giving up feeding? I guess the hormone change must affect you.

Franny - you would normally wait two weeks to see any difference from a dietary change. There may be an improvement after a week or so but if there's none by two weeks then you should know. Hope you are bearing up. Can you smell raspberries?

FrannyandZooey · 27/01/2009 08:53

ooh i had forgotten raspberries
do you think they are approaching?
you are so kind guad i think i could really do with them today
how come it takes so long for the dietary changes to show up? i mean why doesn't it just go away if the cause has gone away? or is this skin kind of screwed up now and won't calm down until....something?

FrannyandZooey · 27/01/2009 08:54

you know i thought of something
i should have done egg as well
because what if it is egg AND dairy
then i won't know until i have done 2 weeks of milk free, 2 weeks of egg free and 2 weeks of egg AND milk free

[wan]
[hungry]

FrannyandZooey · 27/01/2009 08:55

don't know about sleep problems in particular but i think it is normal to have lots of changes when giving up feeding, yes
early pg usually makes you sleep differently doesn't it? so makes sense that stopping feeding would also

BBBee · 27/01/2009 09:41

god franny you will be eating nothing except porridge made with water for the next two years.

guad - i had sleep changes when i stopped as i readjusted but then slept much better because my body was not on constant alert to feed mode. i think.

i was up at that time becauase i fell aslepp whilst putting children to bed so pinged awake at 3am - my body gets cross if i sleep too much and i get a headache. i do get insomnia - worse in the winter but consider myslef lucky because i can function on little sleep. wish it was constructive time spent doing reading and housework but insomnia is mainly taken up with various forms of navel gazing.

have been upping my fruits and downing my carbs - am less 'saited' but more, um, something else.

but why oh why is avi pissing on a tree?

OP posts:
Boco · 27/01/2009 10:08

I think that Avi was just thread marking Bbbee.

My printer has broken, and I need to print things. It keeps telling me it's out of paper but then chewing up the paper and spitting it out. I'm banging on it and that's not helping.

It's really cold today and I can't take my coat off.

I think sister might be having baby quite soon, as she had contractions yesterday. Is very exciting. It will be my first nephew. I will be in charge of making sure he doesn't poo.

littlerach · 27/01/2009 11:44

TooT, dd1 has just finished Little House series so we have lots of referenecs to bangs and petticoats and blizzards.

Our shed window has fallen out again. Amd I can't get it back in and dh away.

Tatties · 27/01/2009 11:56

Morning all

It is a grey day here. I want to go out and fondle wool but have to wait in for the postman... Will have lunch and go out this afternoon.

How are you littlerach?

And avi, I meant to ask how are your nights? Did you say something a while ago about wanting ds to come into your bed by himself?

Think several of you might like hugs today? ((()))

littlerach · 27/01/2009 11:58

It is quite sunny here, and frosty this morning.
Much nicer than the grey drab day yesterday.

I am fine, tatties. And you? Are you expecting something nice fromt he postie?

I was v excited to hear the doorbell yesterday and have a parcel, but it was child protection literature for work!

FairLadyRantALot · 27/01/2009 12:01

Hi All!

Tiny, I think it is pretty normal to be scared!

Am at some of the timings of posts...gosh, people do you never sleep? (I mena, I know some people live in a diffrent timezone, that is different of course, lol...)

Well, so far 1 Banana....shocking....will have lunch in a moment though, so, will try to squeeze as many portions in there...
Went to a Teammeeting this morning...it is my day off placement, but thought it was a good opportunity to introduce myself to people I hadn't officially met yet, and stuff...and of course, I hope it reflects well on me ...can't be wrong to appear keen, right ...and might cover some areas in my Proffessional Profile, I suppose...

Anyways....best get on with some stuff

FrannyandZooey · 27/01/2009 12:04

Oh, good, they are there. Do you like them then? They taste quite milky in a way don't you think? They do come in a box of eight but had run out, hence silly little ones.

I function okay on little sleep too but I do feel annoyed about it. I think about it all day and feel cross like I've been cheated. We were meant to start music class this morning but it was cancelled so we to the museum and saw stuffed animals, always an experience, and got in the way of school parties trying on the wig of Boudicca. Now I have eaten a very unsatisfactory Boots shapers feta and lentil salad.

I think it takes a while for the effects of allergy to calm down in the body. I don't really know. I imagine once the cause of extra histamine is reduced, it takes the body a while to recover from the physical effects? Also, it might not be that. And I don't think you should do egg at the same time, it's too much. When did you start again?

FairLadyRantALot · 27/01/2009 13:24

lol avi....my poor dh sleeps mostly on the couch...although we finally succeeded, to some extent, to get ys out of our bed...but dh snores so dreadfully, lol...
I think, once the Kids are out of the house, we will go for seperate bedrooms properly...

Lullabyloo · 27/01/2009 13:24

oh that's a slippery route avi.....I am still there errrr 3.5 years later.....ahem

Wondrous bird talk....we see a heron at the lake nearby quite often.
((((((()))))))) for feather,I'm so sorry it's all so hard

Thanks guys for lunch suggestions,ds cannot take smoothies or juice or cake.He has houmus with his veggies in a little pot.Wont eat pizza unless warm (sensible child)
Have sent him with breadsticks & houmus, cubes of feta & sundried tomatoes,a pot of yoghurt & raspberries...will wait full of dread for the results.
Yesterday was much doom and gloom, teacher kept me back for 45 mins to tell me what a terrible day it had been & how ds was so disobediant & rude & would have to learn to do as he was told & not argue.
He refused to leave the hall after gym (has issues with changing from one activity to another) They bodily carried him out after half an hour & then he refused to get changed

he's so on edge like a taut piece of wire

Franny.....hie thee to TW & come & gym & swim & picnic with me then (did i mention the gourmet picnics............)

am jealous of raspberry booja booja,I can never find them anywhere

Lullabyloo · 27/01/2009 13:28

oh golly I need at LEAST 8 hours a night or am horribly crabby, well even more so than usual anyway.

FairLadyRantALot · 27/01/2009 13:29

aww lullyby...sorry that your son is having a tough time at school...
As for Lunchboxes....if blardy schoolmeals wouldn't be so fricking expensive , I would love to swap....but they are almost £2 per day per head for the little ones and more towards £3 per day for es....and considering that teh little ones are not always eating much and es tends to spend his money on crap...well...schooldinners aren't really a viable option, sigh...but the littles ones are awkward and es, well, he ofen won't eat his lunch because he can't be bothered...!
Is your son vegetarian or does he have allergies?
