For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hi Lisa I joined this thread in the new year and I've found it has really helped me up and think about my f&v intake. Everyone is v v v friendly and ever so slightly mad Have you read the first post on this thread and the links? They are very helpful.

Franny - can I say a tentative yes to a meet up Within reason I don't mind where it is as I can drive or catch the train.

TinyWhiteFeather · 28/01/2009 08:58

Will I get headaches as part of diet coke withdrawal symptoms, from giving up refined sugars and carbs?

pollycazalet · 28/01/2009 11:44

Oooh thanks for the welcome veggers. Not so sure about the nudity but am relieved to see that Boojas are allowed (although not one of the 10 I assume).

I think I would give myself a B- for yesterday?s efforts.

Apple
Tomatoes
Mushrooms
Spinach
carrot
Mixed berries

Do lentils and kidney beans count?

I feel impelled to confess now that I don?t actually like fruit very much. In fact I had to skip swiftly over the kiwi discussion and as for lychees . Like eating warm jellied perfume.

Should I actually BE on this thread if I don?t really like fruit, hmmm?

Franny ? don?t know whether you have tried this for exzema (am sure you?ve be inundated with potions to try)

www.purepotions.co.uk/#1X0
My dd had it at same age and this was a miracle cure for us ? had a week of the steroid cream, then just used this and it didn?t return really. She still gets the odd patch but this zaps it.

TinyWhiteFeather · 28/01/2009 11:55

Neither Fruit nor nudity are compulsory polly lololol....just an overall heathy eating regime for your general wellbeing.

Thought you typed that you liked eating warm jellied perfume lol,

Guadalupe · 28/01/2009 12:00

There's only nudity in that weirdy yurt, if you come over here in the village hall people are well wrapped up. And we shake hands.

LOL at warm jellied fruit. I can't stand jelly. I used to have nightmares when I was young that my favourite things were set in aspic in the fridge.

No food yet, but I am about to make smoked salmon pate with oatcakes and cucumber and rocket and I am also about to marinade some lamb with veg for dinner. Still waiting for Tesco shop though. I thought it was them a minute ago but it was next door's builders telling me we have serious leak in the alley.

Boco · 28/01/2009 12:05

How did you even know what aspic was when you were little Guad? I think in a past life you were Lady Carrotly-Guad.

I am definitely a village haller, on a hard chair, with a cardigan and some orange tea. None of that yurt frolicking, oh no.

Guadalupe · 28/01/2009 12:08

I didn't know it was called aspic but I hated that jelly in a pork pie. My mum had a boyfriend that used to eat them and a little wobbly bit of jelly would stick on his lip and he'd get it off with his tongue. Bleurrgh.

I wasn't that young when I had the dreams anyway, early teens, but that is young isn't it! Seems like a long time ago but I am feeling haggard today.

Guadalupe · 28/01/2009 12:12

In all the phots recently I have a lot more lines. My friend had some acupuncture yesterday and she said it completely straighted a line for a while, but it did come back a bit later.

littlerach · 28/01/2009 12:14

Hi Polly.
Glad they didn't scare you off!!

Still using up the carrots so carrot soup with osme buuernut squash in.

Celery for breakfast, Feather??? Ick! And I like celery (with peanut butter in).

have prepared numerous veg for gratin tonight.

The dds school has a fundraiser on Saturday so I need to bake some cakes tomorrow. last time i baked fo rhtem, it was between mine and friend's as to whose would be last to sell.

And it is cake Friday on Friday too, and both girls' classes have to bake.

At leats the house will smell nice

Boco · 28/01/2009 12:14

I was talking about that jelly only yesterday with a friend as dds friends keep losing teeth, and we were reminiscing about that gum jelly feeling you get when your tooth has first fallen out, and although you're repulsed, you can't stop your tongue sneaking over to have a feel.

Guadalupe · 28/01/2009 12:15

Lol, there is a little flicky flap where the tooth was sometimes too.

littlerach · 28/01/2009 12:16

ooh, i hate wobbly teeth

Dd1 has the wobbliest evr at the mo, and she won't pull it out. It kept bleeding yesterday.

Guadalupe · 28/01/2009 12:17

DD used to poke one through her lips so it hung down like Emma Thompsons in Nanny Macphee. It looked horrible.
