For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Gosh, Guad, that is amazing, did it really make such a difference?

Franny I am sure it will get easier, particulalry if you can use oil for almost all cooking ...

Guadalupe · 23/01/2009 22:47

That was joke sigh btw.

Daisy - I hope it will be that easy! When I said shall we get your cup tonight he threw himself dramatically on the bed and wailed 'milka' pointing at me.

Guadalupe · 23/01/2009 22:48

I must go to bed, only had four hours sleep. Night all.

daisy99divine · 23/01/2009 22:51

Night Guad, I am sure you will be ok, perhaps with a bit of wailing, but when mummy milk starts to just go I guess it goes easier - we did both bottle and bf for a long time, and I didn't go for a cup I did a babies bottle which we still use at night even though DS can drink from a glass perfectly well in the day

FairLadyRantALot · 23/01/2009 22:57

Hi All....how are you all today?
Did I miss anything?

well, my f&v count isn't great, but well, about 5 portions worth (Banana, Apple, Cherry, Beans, some lettuce and tomato)

Had a good day, had my 2. supervision and it went well and was also able to try out some Computerised Therapy Equipment. It was quite cool!

I am thinking of taking part in an essay competition of the changing faces charity....but not quite sure how to go about it....think I will draw on personal experience without actually writing it in the first person (I suppose as it is open to students they want academic writing)....will see!

Oh and whislt with it....maybe some of you would like to take their survey here , it's about attitude towards people with facial disfigurement!

Anyway, am rambling on....hope everyone is well!

SuperBunny · 23/01/2009 23:38

Why can't you have garlic bread, Franny? You can use vegan marg (which is non hydrogenated) instead of butter and it is almost as good. Oh, I see it is ready made. Never mind then. I really want to cut out dairy properly because my dermatitis is really bothering me but my friend just invited me to go out for milkshakes tomorrow.

The pus doesn't bother me really. If you are going to drink bodily fluids from another species, I don't think you can be picky about what it is made of.

I said the same thing the other day, about F&V leaving me hungry. I could eat 10 portions and still want to scoff a loaf of bread.

Apple, strawberries, blueberries, juice, carrot and lentil soup = five-ish

Hope Feather's day was bearable. Been thinking of you x

Will look at changing faces.

SuperBunny · 24/01/2009 03:11

I went for a run. A RUN

I feel gooooood

another apple

TWF, thinking of you x

TinyWhiteFeather · 24/01/2009 03:39

The day was bearable, but ended badly at home, have just done a long ranting post and accidentally deleted it.

Thank-you for all your thoughts.

Perhaps it was not meant to be.

Franny, I am so sorry about DS2's continuing problems. Hace you tried Oats in a muslim sac in his bath? Or something to balance the acid/alkali levels in his little body.
I had a friend that was treated for psoriatic arthritis, is this worth pusrsuing? His skin cleared almost completely. I don't know what meds he was on though.

What time are your appointments Toot? I am back at the doctors on monday morning so we can hold each others hands. Nothing major for me but more test results and doc 'keeping an eye' on me. Now I really have to behave.

Look at milk under the micoscope, it is disgusting fascinating.

But it could have three-headed worms swimming in it and I would still drink lattes.

Hope run was good SB. I am trying one in the morning. Want to achieve short but fast(ish) to get rid of some angst. I run to the local supermarket and have a quiet latte shop in peace.

So I suppose I should go back to bed,

I read the rest of the thread but .......lordy, lordy, we do our reputation for 'talking' justice don't we ?

I'll 'see' you all over the weekend luscious ones. Have fab weekends..xx

SuperBunny · 24/01/2009 03:53

Am glad the day was bearable, TWF. Enjoy your morning run.

I may have psoriatic arthritis (except they don't think I have the psoriasis)

mangolassi · 24/01/2009 05:28

I cannot believe that a) there are 735 posts already and b) I've just sat here and read them all... will undoubtedly forget to acknowledge something very important...

TooT - dr.s - congratulations on making appointment, it will be fine, agree with all that if she's nice and not silly you might want to talk about wider issues. I have a lump on my arm (99.9 % sure it's not serious, just a thing under the skin), and I will also be at the hospital on Monday to get it seen to. Monday is Chinese New Year - maybe you, me and Tiny have unconsciously made Chinese New year's Resolutions to be a bit healthier

Tiny - glad that you checked in after the funeral, hope that things at home will start to calm down a bit now for you

Lupe - dd was 19 months when i stopped bf. I had very mixed feelings too - actually it was probably harder for me than for her. Go gently, don't worry about stopping and starting, it takes care of itself as the milk goes. Dd occasionally wanted to try again after she'd seen a younger toddler drink - i let her have a go and we'd talk about how the milk's gone, see? It was fine. i still weirdly miss it a bit, although not when I come on this thread and am reminded of the chewing all night factor

Oh, I forget everything else...

mangolassi · 24/01/2009 05:44

oh, lots of people are doing exciting studying things and i am jealous of you. Well, 2 people, anyway.

coconut
juice
apple
smoothie on the way, good for 2 i reckon

this 10/10 stuff has been really good for me - i'm cooking most nights now to try to get more veggies in, and I'm actually enjoying it a bit . And i'm losing some weight, going by my clothes, which is very necessary... but I'll be away all next week for another work thing, and I think that's going to seriously mess with the 10 portions. Actually dp just told me that I've lost weight 'but every time you go away you come back bigger again'. I think i get overexcited because there are so many dairy products foods we can't get here.

TinyWhiteFeather · 24/01/2009 07:23

mango, Can't believe you read all the posts!! That definately deserves a sticker IMO.

A lot of the time, that is just the state of affairs in my house . Which is probably partly why I have exercised and dietted myself to the ground. A wake up call was probably necessary because it is really not my intention to make myself ill and waste valuable time recovering...I am far too busy for that!!

Did dp sleep on the sofa for saying that ?!

Am planning to 'clean the cupboard under the stairs' this weekend, so if you don't hear from me...send a search party. lol

I cleaned my painting box out last night which was very cathertic, and have nearly finished my current painting. My next one is going to be another mandala based one called 'guiding light and inspiration', based on the sun and the moon. If anybody wants anything included in it, I would be delighted if you made suggestions. I may have to adapt them slightly to fit in but will do my best.

The card packs may be late spring rather than early as my health and subsequent energy levels dictate at the mo.

Off out in a moment. It is frosty but clearish here.

TA-TA!

TooTicky · 24/01/2009 08:43

Hello Feather, glad you're back.

Daisy, the pus is because of the mastitis.
Did you know that some cows' udders get stretched so long that they stand on them and tear them?
Dairy? Who needs it!

Franny, there is another sort of chocolate. It is wrapped in pale purple. Hang on and I'll see if I can find it.

TooTicky · 24/01/2009 08:45

Mango, Feather and I will have to stretch and hold hands on Monday.

FrannyandZooey · 24/01/2009 09:06

good luck to everyone with appointments on monday

we had better night - ds2 less itchy, but he is miserable this morning, not sure why. i am hanging back a bit as it is dp's morning with him (i have lie in, but i slept ok, so i am up)

guad i don't get those spots - dp and ds1 do
i am hoping it will help my mild sniffle though

fairlady i have seen the changingfaces campaign on the tube - thought provoking

Have you tried the village bakery chocolate orange brownies? I eat those even when I am eating dairy because they're so delicious.

Lucky you having nice arms. My upper arms are always rough, even if I use a scrub. Better in the summer though.

Guadalupe · 24/01/2009 09:19

Thanks again for all bf advice. He wanted some last night but I might see if dh can put him down again this evening. I hadn't really thought about the fact that the milk will just go if I'm not feeding much.

Toast and marmite. No fruit. Everything in the bowl looked severe.

FrannyandZooey · 24/01/2009 09:19

oh i haven't got nice arms! they are very scarred (teenage acne etc)
but i don't get those milk spots

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 24/01/2009 09:20

don't know if i posted before that ds1 was desperate to try milk again when ds2 was born
he kept talking about it through the pregnancy and i was like --->

he did try and said "oh i can't get any"
had forgotten how to latch on!

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 24/01/2009 09:25

Really? How funny, I guess it's a skill they have to learn so can forget it again. A lot of children ask when there's a new baby don't they.

My arms are rough and flabby atm. I keep trying to hold them up and exrecise them as I'm running but I feel like a t-rex.

Guadalupe · 24/01/2009 09:26

All mine get rough skin and excema patches when we have a lot of oranges, which is a shame as we all love them.

TooTicky · 24/01/2009 09:27

the fudge is nice here uyou can also get in H&B

looking for more

FrannyandZooey · 24/01/2009 09:28

yes i have been wondering about citrus
i will do this milk thing and then move my sights to other enjoyable foods [gloom]

LOL ds1 just said plaintively "will you come and sit down with me daddy?"
when dp got there ds1 had put a plastic horse, legs up, on the chair
LOL - sophisticated humour or what

OP posts:
TooTicky · 24/01/2009 09:29

here Franny

FrannyandZooey · 24/01/2009 09:29

i think ethical superstore have sale on - will look there
