misdee - it will be - he's in good hands. And he's going to be getting better soon.

mummytosteven · 03/04/2005 23:32

hope that they stabilise Peter soon, and a suitable heart comes up soon. sorry you have had such a disappointment.

thanks sally. i hope your dh remains stable and you never have to go through this yourself. its horrible.

and 2 transplants are very rare, your dh brother is a very lucky man.

It can be a frustrating battle, misdee. I presume the hospital organ co-ordinators have told you about timescale / likelihood of a good match etc. ? Average number of 'false alerts' ?

Perhaps you could discuss this further with them if it helps ?

Stay positive.

And yes, I don't ever stop on the fag bitchin' - it just is so gross and bad for you - not what lovely misdee and Sparkly need.

OK, dw is in bed and I'm off.

Night all. Get some sleep misdee, as Peter too will have been disappointed and maybe you will be able to go and see him tomorrow ???

misdee · 03/04/2005 23:37

false alerts are rare.

we were told that peter should have a heart in 6-12months, that was 6-7 weeks ago (just before serena was born). so we could be waiting a while, or another week/ couple of days. who knows.

Sorry to hear about the disappointment, Misdee. I hope you get some rest, you must be emotionally exhausted.

misdee - hope you have a reasonable sleep.

I know it's not much good for you and Peter (well at least I hope not ) but I've just signed up as an Organ Donor - been meaning to do it for ages - but this thread tonight has really made me get my finger (mouse?) out and do something about it.

ScummyMummy · 04/04/2005 02:04

How disappointing, misdee and Peter. Sorry you've got all prepared for nothing this time. I hope you'll get another chance soon.

Gomez · 04/04/2005 02:28

So sorry misdee that it didn't workout this time for Peter.

pixiefish · 04/04/2005 07:39

sorry it didn't work out this time

noddyholder · 04/04/2005 07:39

so sorry you must be so disappointed As someone else said o+ is fairly common so lets pray he doesn't wait too long

WideWebWitch · 04/04/2005 07:40

Sorry to hear this misdee.

hub2dee · 04/04/2005 07:44

Morning misdee. You OK ?

Twiglett · 04/04/2005 07:55

Oh bugger ... just logged on to find out what's happening.

So sorry it can't go ahead this time.

tigermoth · 04/04/2005 08:05

just seen this, misdee. Really sorry about Peter, and hope next time comes soon.

misdee · 04/04/2005 08:11

feel a bit better this morning. after the inital scared period i was looking forward to a more normal life and Peter being able to enjoy life. now i feel like we're back to square one and wondering if his own heart will last long enough for a second chance. he is in the last stages of heart failure now.

Enid · 04/04/2005 08:13

so sorry misdee - we will all be waiting with you for the next time x E

noddyholder · 04/04/2005 08:14

Are they keeping him there until another heart is available?

Titania · 04/04/2005 08:14

I am so sorry misdee. Hope your DH stabilises soon. take care hun x x x

misdee · 04/04/2005 08:14

all i know is they are keeping him for now to readjust his warfarin and get his INR level back down to 2-3, not 11.2!!

OP posts:
hub2dee · 04/04/2005 08:16

If he's towards / at the top of the list, misdee, as evidenced by yesterday's activities, I would guess he'll be next up soon - probably as soon as his INR drops to an acceptable level for them to perform the op...

Maybe speaking to a pro working in this field (the transplant co-ordination team, or some kind of patient liaison person) might help ?
