For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Good idea to stop thinking about it.

I don't go to HV clinics as I think they are a waste of time for us, however I weigh ds at home every couple of months just to make sure things are going as they should (although the fat rings on the thighs are a good indicator!)

But, whilst I tell everyone else to 'step away from the charts', I can't help myself and I plot his weight on the chart. DH just looks at me and tuts as he knows I am always second guessing myself and my instinct.

TooTicky · 05/01/2009 12:02

Good luck with your errnads FK, they sound potentially painful. Hope you feel better.

LR, when I combed dd1 this morning I found thousands. But she is 12 and stroppily independent so I don't feel guilty. If I was a cruel parent I would blame her for infesting the others.

Stuffit, I laughed so much over your dd slamming and getting stuck.

Feather, you brave thing you

Quick Tea break...

Lol, Toot, complete and utter social clunkiness!

I have to go shopping for Christmas presents after I have finished work. .

Must get on, am trying to be very disciplined this year.

TooTicky · 05/01/2009 12:28

Boo! But I'm not here really.

Guadalupe · 05/01/2009 12:34

Toot - do you mean your dd calls you a bitch? I would not be gentle with that nitty gritty, I would scraping some scalp. I don't think they're that great actually, good for getting eggs out but full grown lice walk up the comb and hide in the metal gap around the prongs waiting for you to give them a lift back down again. Very annoying. I keep meaning to write to them. We comb with a blue one but if they get very bad sometimes we hedrin.

Tuna salad from pret and mango juice. Not very insprired. Got some lovely half price books from borders though. Ds2 is 2 in 2 weeks. Can't believe it. So, the night before his birthday he anounces he doesn't want any more milka is that right? That's the book I read.

Guadalupe · 05/01/2009 12:56

We just exchanged contracts! Thank fuck for that. Should complete next tuesday.

FrannyandZooey · 05/01/2009 13:19

erm....more like the night before his 4th birthday guad if my experience anything to go by I think girls sometimes wean that early, not usually boys I don't think
dream on though

that is wonderful about the house! congratulations

FrannyandZooey · 05/01/2009 13:23

desperate plot to make supermarket trip less tedious
find foods for lunch all colours of the rainbow
ds1 chose tomatoes, pineapple, yellow pepper, basil, blueberry yogurt, and beetroot
the yogurt was NOT blue
but neither of us like blue cheese so was only option really
unless i missed something? i vetoed blue drink

ds2 has gummed an avocado into submission
i think it all slid out of his mouth again but he looked pleased

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/01/2009 13:46

Congratulations Guad, are you moving very far from were you are?

DH first day back at work today since before Christmas. We both miss him

TooTicky · 05/01/2009 14:43

Guad - congratulations!!!! That must be a huge relief

I think Guad is moving round the corner or something.

Dd1 called me an evil witch and then hissed that the witch started with b. She doesn't take kindly to being combed.

Guadalupe · 05/01/2009 14:50

lol at the witch starts with b

Iliketomove it - It is only ten minutes away, but a lot bigger and is a complete wreck atm. Big project.

Franny - um, I might have to have words about weaning in his own time. Not sure what to do. I am quite fed up of it now. I also don't tend to mention it to people. Two seems a cut off point in a lot of people's eyes doesn't it? Mind you, with some it's a year, others six months and so on. I get quite irritable with it though, that can't be nice either. Hmm.

SuperBunny · 05/01/2009 14:53

@ rude children, although I have a vague memory of calling my mum a cow. DS arrived this morning and said, "Mummy, I don't want to see you today but I need to do a wee." Lovely

I did laugh at Stuffits DD

Am too tired to do mothering things today.

FrayedKnot · 05/01/2009 14:58

I have done me errnads - well mostly. Went shopping almost entirely in indoor shopping centre.

Guad excellent news! Does that mean you actually move next week? Or are you doing some sort of bridging buying both thingie?

SuperBunny · 05/01/2009 15:00

Yes, excellent news, Guad. Where are you moving - is it far?

IdrisTheDragon · 05/01/2009 15:01
FrayedKnot · 05/01/2009 15:02

I have find memories of the days when DS ate avocados.

SB sounds like DS might be tired too?

I have promised DS we will make a marble run out of junk in a bit. My tea is taking aaages to drink though

ahundredtimes · 05/01/2009 15:02

[scratches head]

Was not my fault Fra, it should have moved. Like an untame thing. Also was my pasty, also did not like the look in its eye. Also there were small children present.

Lupe! Congratulations! How exciting, bet you are relieved.

I am currently making window art with dd. Well, I'm shouting instructions at this v. second - 'look at the instructions' are my instructions.

The idea of my running a workshop on marriage is very odd I'm afraid. I can't imagine what I would say. Though I might dress up for it - and get special spectacles - and a new bosom. I think my new bosom might make Bee hair teary and hateful though too. And FWIW Bee is being very brave and proper I reckon, experience tells me that by this point the women in the marriage has usually bent over backwards for years and years to make it work. That's what I think. I might do my first seminar on Bending Over Backwards?

Sorry. Now I'm being flippant. Going back to window art.

FrayedKnot · 05/01/2009 15:03

Hello Idris!

Sonnet · 05/01/2009 15:07

Hello Ladies - please can I join?
I am trying to eat more fruit and veg - and more healthly generally - and do a little exercise every day....

Today I have had - home made juice ( 4 x oranges, 4 x apples, 4 x nectarines)half this am, the pther half I will have later on today

Chpooed up melon and pineapple

baked potato with Spinich and chickpea curry followed by banana and apple

I have also walked for 30 mins!

ahundredtimes · 05/01/2009 15:10

Welcome Sonnet - you MUST stay. What did you do with the melon and pineapple once you had chopped it?

Oh I am back [window art, not so v. exciting] to say TWF - yes, of course, you must express your love of birds. Don't worry. A warning will help. At some point though I shall take you into a dusty corner of the village hall and point out to you in eye-watering detail that these creatures you love so much are actually lawless dinosaurs, intent on world domination, riddled with disease, that they move in herds and are always watching us, and waiting, and circling, and scheming and that they have no brains, just bones and instinct and disgusting chests. I'm sure you will look forward to that v. much.

Sonnet · 05/01/2009 15:13

eat it!!
Havn't read all the thread, just a bit at the beginning so am now all agog at whot on earth you are taking about - birds, dinosours and village halls

TinyWhiteFeather · 05/01/2009 15:14

Welcomes sonnet with a cheery wave,

Lol at ahundred and bird paranoia fear! .

Dashes out to get children.

ahundredtimes · 05/01/2009 15:16

Ignore it Sonnet. Is a personal mission of my own.

You ate it! I wondered

Good, good. You seem to be doing very well, and juice sounds delicious. I think there are isshoes arising with juice - or was that smoothies? Fra will tell us.

Sonnet · 05/01/2009 15:17

Thanks for the welcome - I've got to dash off bnow but will be back later...

dooneygirl · 05/01/2009 15:23

I promise never to use the word bird on here again. For as long as I remember.

You know where I live? Does that mean I have a stalker? I feel really important the few times I've had a stalker.

I live in Oregon, USA. I'm 8 hours behind (most of) you all, and 2 hours behind the Bunny.

Can I just say I am not looking forward to my children getting older and giving their honest opinion of me?

Off to start the day and go to the produce market so I can do this 10/10 thing properly. Otherwise, I'll have to go to the supermarket, and run the risk of cunting pretty much everything produce, not just mangoes.
