For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh it's years since I saw a kingfisher. I used to drive along the M40 a lot and there were always red kites circling around Oxford. They are very magestic.

I am cold and have a headache. I am snuggled on the sofa with a cup of Earl Grey, my laptop and Belle Epoque on the telly. I really want to go to bed.

littlerach · 04/01/2009 20:07

My friend taught her daughter to ride a bike in a graveyard.

Nope, never worked at Mansfield Brewery.

I am almost not cold.

SuperBunny · 04/01/2009 20:09

I wonder if you can get eco coffins here. Is cremation really terribly bad for the environment?

SuperBunny · 04/01/2009 20:11

Almost not cold sounds lovely!

Feather, why are you asking about the brewery? My ex's grandfather worked at Tetley's brewery. He would sometimes come home with a bucketful of ale

FrayedKnot · 04/01/2009 20:13

I like the "Gone to Seed" one

Pink I suggest you let DH read Franny's post

FrannyandZooey · 04/01/2009 20:14

i don't know sb
i just like graveyards and i like the idea of being buried
we are kind of atheist so explaining death to ds1 was hard, as we didn't have any reassuring things to say about 'heaven'
but i liked being able to say 'when we die the goodness in our bodies goes back into the ground and new things grow from it'
he still doesn't know about cremation
it would freak him out i think

littlerach · 04/01/2009 20:15

Franny speaks sense, Pink.
Very good plan.

Where's Toot?

TinyWhiteFeather · 04/01/2009 20:16

The Mansfield Brewery question is specifically for Osba, but I am Lolling at everybody answering.

Can't you take everything to bed SB?

We have a derelict watermill in a town near us and I think it is one of my favourite places in the world. When I lived in the town, I spent most of my free time there sketching and taking photos. It had an air reminiscent of a graveyard.

FrannyandZooey · 04/01/2009 20:16

oh i missed a few posts there and wondered what you were all on about
rest in peas PMSL
mou i saw red kites near oxford and nearly wet myself with excitement
i was with harpsi who found it v entertaining
they are fabulous though, i still think about them and hope i will see another one

Guadalupe · 04/01/2009 20:16

We haven't talked about cremation, and all mine have learnt to ride their bike in the graveyard.

FrannyandZooey · 04/01/2009 20:17

i have probably drunk a mansfield brewery
hth

OsmosisFaLaLaLaLa · 04/01/2009 20:17

Well sensed Fran!

I'm not going to talk of it again. I AM OVER IT... yep.

BBbbbeee - sounds ming but like you're being ludicrously sensible. Good one.

Right, presentation first thing tomorrow, this will be my last foray into the world of MN for a while (honest, it is this time) as I also have exams.

Hope all ailments of the heart and body heal in goodly time. Live long n prosper.

TinyWhiteFeather · 04/01/2009 20:18

Oh, sorry SB, didn't see your post. I know something about the brewery that could be helpful to Osba, if she worked there, tenuous, but I feel desparately for them and want to help.

TinyWhiteFeather · 04/01/2009 20:21

OK, Osba...I'll try and stop worrying.

Must go and do things.

Goodnight, and sweet dreams to all you lovely people......

FrannyandZooey · 04/01/2009 20:22

oh to mr pink
mr franny knows which side his bread is buttered
he can sleep all night without let or hindrance because we are co sleeping and i feed ds2 as soon as he snuffles
so a bit of special daddy bonding come saturday morning is not much to ask imo
(p.s. if i get too run down i get ill and take to my bed. he is not daft )

pinkspottywellies · 04/01/2009 20:23

I'm not very good at sleeping. DH will be fab at weekends and my fantastic friend says she'll come every day and take dd with them DD's not at nursery or anything but I might start her at pre-school when she's old enough (but only if I'm really struggling). Have a childminder who has her for odd sessions now and then. So all is not lost.

SB I haven't met her new chap yet I'll FB you about it if you don't mind me using you as a sounding board?

Careful talking about birds. If 100x comes she'll freak

FrannyandZooey · 04/01/2009 20:23

oh
runner beans
are they not in season? [ignorant] they came in our veg box

FrannyandZooey · 04/01/2009 20:24

pink i thought i was going to die as ds1 doesn't sleep in day (or much at other times )
i really found it not so bad as i was expecting

SuperBunny · 04/01/2009 20:29

I like your explantation, Franny and it is what I tell DS. But I don't want to be buried here (and be stuck on/in US turf forever)

@ the Mansfield question being for OB. Sorry.

FB away, pink. I am having man situations of my own

pinkspottywellies · 04/01/2009 20:46

I think we'd be too worried to co-sleep. Will have him next to me in moses basket though and will prob drag baby in to feed and doze back off!

Good luck with presentation OsBa. See you back here at the end of term ok?!

FrannyandZooey · 04/01/2009 20:48

apple
pear
raisins
grapes
a smoothie thing
veg stew: kidney beans, parsnip, mushroom, carrot, onion
bowl of salad: tomato, yellow pepper, lettuce
2 satsumas
I reckon that could be 10

FrannyandZooey · 04/01/2009 20:51

pink it is sooooooo easy and restful
can lend you 3 in a bed if you think you might consider it
there's a lot of scaremongering about co-sleeping but if you and baby healthy, and follow basic safety precautions, is v safe
people worry about rolling on baby - even when you are asleep you are aware of what is going on
i mean how often do you fall out of bed? you know where you are - it's really ok
(will stop trying to convert you if you don't want to though)

FrannyandZooey · 04/01/2009 20:52

eeeeargh gigantic poo explosion
brb

ahundredtimes · 04/01/2009 21:07

[sits on other side of hall to Franny]

Have skimmed - there were birds I had to read fast after that. They were RED ones and they were CIRCLING fgs. Teradactyls or something - how do you spell that.

Just wanted to say BBee - I hope all goes well for you. It's a really tough call to make, and am sure and hope you learn something from your time apart and that it helps you both in your decision making. Will be thinking of you, muchly. xxx

Sorry too, I never saw your original thread.

Guadalupe · 04/01/2009 21:08

OB - Fair enough. Sometimes it's easier not to keep going over stff isn't it. Better to be philosophical and learn from it and move on. Hope you get your kitchen at some point! Good luck with exams too.

Pink - I couldn't have survived without co-sleeping. I really don't know how people do it. I will ask again politely. Whe are you due?
