For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Are you all out for brisk walks?

OsmosisFaLaLaLaLa · 04/01/2009 18:00

we won't be getting anyfink from the insurance or help from police. thinking about never paying council tax ever again, doesn't seem to acheive much in the ghetto.

IBS sucks. Mine just kinda went away of it's own accord thank god.

TinyWhiteFeather · 04/01/2009 18:10

So sorry BBBee that you are in such a difficult situation, and really hope that you resolve things, and are also taking care of yourself in the meantime.

Have had a very busy day, mostly doing stuff for other people and then trying to clear our spare room so I have somewhere to go as I have had my fill of mindless, crap television. And I'm not quite sure how much good running nearly everyday is doing me. .
Quite hard to admit that.
I need to have somewhere to escape to though. Sometimes it doesn't feel like my house.

Banana,
pear,
juice,
peppers,
sweetcorn,
onions,
tomatoes.

A cycle ride for exercise.

Think the DC's are back at school tomorrow. (punches air .)

Should have booked a sneaky day off, but might try to wrangle one next week....smirk. Being self employed has its advantages!

FrannyandZooey · 04/01/2009 19:00

people round for christmas presents and (very un 10/10) snacky things
i couldn't get organised re food so an awful lot of ch**sy things and tiny little cream tarts and eclairs. ds1 was left unsupervised with cake selection and says he feels sick ooops

osba i am sensing you don't want us to ask any more so i won't! but felt rude to ignore your post

i was loving Guad's graveyard, am big fan AM NOT GOTH PLEASE NOTE
they are just such peaceful places, very calming and the trees and greenness and the stones such a lovely combination
i would love to be buried in churchyard but not likely these days! instead am going here in a willow coffin

Guadalupe · 04/01/2009 19:02

Just eaten pheasant, and it wasn't pleasant.

Boom Boom.

Sorry.

OB - why no insurance and why no police help? That doesn't make sense. No Soco team, no crime number? I spoke to a nice officer for ages and she rang back a few times just over my passport being stolen. That's very shit.

Littlerach - yes I do still get IBS from time to time, mostly when I'm stressed, but the underlying panic that something is really wrong with me has gone. I control my anxiety now, with herbs if things are stressful but mostly though a good diet, exercise and the fact that I know things will improve. To use a cbt word, I 'catastrophise' a lot less and no longer have the mantra's stuck in my head on a loop. I would constantly think, 'I better not go out, it might be a bug this time'. Those exact words would go round and round. Now they never do. Ask your gp to go on the waiting list if you think it will help. She said it would be six months but I got a place in three weeks or so. Also herbs, and anything that relaxes you personally. I couldn't drink coffee either, in fact, have only recently started again. It definitely DOES raise stress levels.

Right, I am going to eat crumble and custards. Today is a write off regarding diet. Sigh.

pinkspottywellies · 04/01/2009 19:10

Oh BBB I wish I could wave my magic wand and make it better. I guess you have difficult times to come and hard decisions to make but you know we're all here for you in any way we can be (((((big bear hug))))) Hope you come out of this happier

OsBa how come? Is the equipment not even covered? Can understand the cash but nothing at all?

Guad hope you had a lovely walk in the graveyard. I don't think it's

Got a fair bit done today - not as much as I'd hoped but friend was busy. Room is just about cleared out though. Now I need to buy curtains, mattress, paint, do painting, give birth

I've been a bit weepy today. But it will all be fine

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 04/01/2009 19:12

BBBee - I'm new to this thread, but I didn't want to say nothing. I hope this time gives you the opportunity to find out what it is you really want. You have made a very brave and sensible decision.

DS in bed and family have naffed off

My niece and nephew were great with ds and kept him entertained for most of the afternoon.

Grapefruit
banana
pear
pineapple
OJ
mushrooms
carrots
cucumber
cauliflower
dr ied fruit

Hurrah - that's the 1st time I've managed ten. Do I get a gold star or something?

littlerach · 04/01/2009 19:12

Again, Guad, you have said it exactly. The bug thing etc.

I don't thnk i can give up coffee, though I cut to 3 cups a day recently.
I have felt a lot better today. I htink speaking about it, here and with my friend yesterday, has let some of it go.

Ok, will call TooT's person tomorrow, and possibly speak to GP re counselling type stuff.

You are all v v kind.

Feather, do you read much? i find it a good escape mechanism. I don't watch much tv, but read, and obviously MN instead.

OB, that is shit. Why can't police help?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 04/01/2009 19:13

Pink - did you have a bit of a horrible time at your last birth?

FrannyandZooey · 04/01/2009 19:17

Move it here you go

i think a few people got 10 lately and i wasn't paying attention so

pink is our official star and sticker monitor

pinkspottywellies · 04/01/2009 19:20

Psst... did you do your exercise?

It's not the birth that's bothering me most tbh. DD's was straightforward although very quick and quite terrifying at the time! But as long as it's the same I'm not worried (although now I'm thinking about it, it is going to hurt like hell!). I just know that I'm pretty useless when I'm tired - I get really snappy and horrid. And dd doesn't sleep in the day and oh god, I have to look after 2 of them

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 04/01/2009 19:22

When I was little I used to attend Sunday School and learn a different passage of the Bible each week. I only done it to get a star, which were then totted up at the end of a year and you could choose a prize. I didn't give a shite about the religious side of things, I just wanted the stars

littlerach · 04/01/2009 19:25

You'll be fine Pink.
And you'll have a baby to hold.
Does dd go to preschool or nursery? maybe you can have a break that way? Or if you have relatives close by?

I have had manky bananas. Bit hard at top, then a bit soggy at the bottom.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 04/01/2009 19:27

Exercise, um, well

Even if you have a quick labour again, I think it helps having experienced it once before as you will know what to expect.

Everyone is useless when they are tired. No doubt you will be snappy and horrid, but it happens to everyone and it will get better. It doesn't seem like it at the time, but when you've passed the first few weeks you'll have forgotten about the sleepless nights. Especially when your lo looks up at you and smiles

Guadalupe · 04/01/2009 19:32

Franny - that looks lovely. I am going to ask to be buried there too. We might be in the same copse and can float around together moaning that the non native aspidistra has been planted next to the aliums whilst eating perfectly ripe mangoes without noticing they fall straight through our ribcage to the floor. We will be ghastly but great.

LittleRach - I would seriously consider cutting down your coffee with the aim to cut it out completely. I never thought it would make that much difference. One cup a day can have a detrimental effect on someone suffering from anxiety. It does dreadful things to your adrenalin and general wellbeing. I got down to one cup of tea first thing but couldn't give that up altogether. I do drink it atm but am going to stop soon. I can feel it is affecting me accumulatively.

Pink - when are you due?

TinyWhiteFeather · 04/01/2009 19:33

LittleR, I don't read much these days. Mostly reference books. I have got quite a few projects on the go, but when paople are at home the television is nearly always on. Unfortunately the spare room is on the top floor so if I go up I look completely anti-social.

I'm in quite an introspective phase these days and whereas I find music inspiring, the TV just doesn't float my boat.

Pink, sorry you are so tired, it is awful. {{{{{hugs}}}}}

Osba, I really, really wish there was something I could do for you.
Oblique Question....have you or your DP ever worked for the Mansfield brewery company?

FrannyandZooey · 04/01/2009 19:41

pink are you planning to co-sleep? it helps so much in early days, would be my top tip
i manage to struggle through the week and stock up on sleep at the weekends - this would be my other top tip
routine is - ds1 wakes up tiptoes in and dp takes him downstairs for stories and youtube other exciting daddy treats
me and ds2 snooze on
when ds2 wakes up, i feed him, then dp takes him down, plays with him, gives ds1 breakfast, carries ds2 in the sling for another sleep, before bringing him back up to me
now ds2 is older this can be nearly 11 am
i have to ignore a bit of wailing that i can hear emanating from downstairs some mornings
with ds1 i would not have been able to do this and would have rushed downstairs to rescue him
now i harden my heart and think 'he is not being left alone to cry, dp is looking after him and he might fuss a bit more than when i am there. it is good for him to get used to someone else and it is good for dp to be left in charge'
then i think zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

FrannyandZooey · 04/01/2009 19:42

guad move over you are blocking the view of the bluebells fgs
and your cardboard coffin is falling apart
the neighbours these days

SuperBunny · 04/01/2009 19:44

Feather, people say the oddest things.

TooT, what do you mean, Beetroot with saccharin? I agree that it tastes like dirt. All earthy and pink. Yum. I am eating a bowl of Borscht as I type.

Pink, whjy are you about friend's new man? Is he not nice?

LR (hugs) and symapthy and tea.

I was initially @ Guad's graveyard but then I remembered that I often used to go for a walk in the graveyard in Liverpool because it was the nearest place with trees and flowers and was peaceful.

Bee I do hope the time apart helps you work out what to do next. I know it's not easy. Do you have plenty of support in RL?

Sorry about the nits, stuffit

Beetroot

SuperBunny · 04/01/2009 19:47

I have never worked at a Mansfield Brewery

Guadalupe · 04/01/2009 19:53

I'll have you know I have a very smart coffin indeed

The peas.

TinyWhiteFeather · 04/01/2009 20:00

SB......and it all comes so naturally! Lololol.

My stepson lives opposite the most amazing deserted graveyard. I could spend hours there. I was more 'Kate Bush' than Goth.

My gorgeous melon was a third yummy and two thirds inedible, I am crushed by the disappointment.

I am cold.

I want to turn the heating up to full and wrap up in a soft blanket, and have my head stroked, and listen to good music, and have intelligent varied discourse,..........oh bugger I am day-dreaming again. lol

SuperBunny · 04/01/2009 20:01

I want a pea coffin!

TinyWhiteFeather · 04/01/2009 20:05

Oh I have to tell you,

Over the holidays I saw three kingfishers, and one landed in a tree a matter of feet away from me. I ran by the river with a heron also flying its length. And when I saw my Bro near Oxford, they have a Red-Kite breeding project and there was one circling overhead so low you could see its feather patterns. I was breath-taken.

I am so completely in awe of the natural world, it blows my mind.

TinyWhiteFeather · 04/01/2009 20:06

I want a soft fur lined one!!
