For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh, no, TooT, the swimming pool we are going to is so warm, it's like wallowing ina kind of primordial soup.

I try not to put my face in the water

TooTickyDoves · 21/12/2008 13:30

Ooh, enjoy the film
Cinemas are v. expensive with several dcs, aren't they?

TooTickyDoves · 21/12/2008 13:32

Ah, the sort where the changing rooms are arctic in comparison?

FrayedKnot · 21/12/2008 13:34

Exercise DG

We were at a party last night (well not DS) so this is kind of like the next best thing to sleep, while keeping DS entertained

I will be wallowing.

daftpunk · 21/12/2008 13:36

tooticky; you have the same as me..2 girls & 2 boys...

which reminds me....i must go and feed them!

catch you later..

TheGarishlyTwinkleyMadHouse · 21/12/2008 13:38

Love the title - I have read it, re-read it and read it again just to be sure

You have made me smile

FrayedKnot · 21/12/2008 13:39

Now why didn;t I think of the cinema

DumbledoresGirl · 21/12/2008 14:04

I loathe swimming pools!

Yes cinema with 4 children is expensive (over £30 today) but we don't go out as a family often and this is ds2's birthday treat (just the family today, last year it was the family plus 2 friends and a 2 course meal in a restaurant afterwards. It was all lovely, but just too expenisve to contemplate this year).

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 15:37

'Lo Punk!

Back from excursion into town to buy crackers and stuff.

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 15:39

we went to cinema yesterday DG for ds's birthday treat. £40 for 7 kids and me. Needless to say we smuggled in our own refreshments.
What did you see?
We watched Madagascar2 - relatively entertaining....

daftpunk · 21/12/2008 15:56

£40 is pretty decent for that many...i spend almost £20 just for me and ds...i live in london, maybe dearer i don't know?

pinkspottywellies · 21/12/2008 16:13

Oh fgs, I just read the rest of the other thread but I can't catch up with 187 messages at the in-laws house

Hope everyone's well. I got up at about 12 thinking 'yes, I've had a lie in I'll be all fine and raring to go' and FIL offered me a seat and I cried. I'm so very tired but we went to a lovely Christmas meal last night, lovely, funny, friendly people and I didn't punch Sally from accounts or anything

We're at PILs today so dd has been watching TV since sun up but we'll have a lovely time and then go to my mum's tomorrow Our first whole Christmas together since I met dh (9 years ago! )

Right. Must be away. I might be able to catch up from mum's tomorrow night.

pinkspottywellies · 21/12/2008 16:16

By the way have we been roasted for the title yet? (I love it by the way) What's going on out there in wider mumsnet that we think people won't notice cunting?

If it's really juicy can someone tell me on FB pls so I don't miss it.

SuperBunny · 21/12/2008 16:16

Hello everyone

How was scarborough, FMF?

The sled was DS's xmas present - he's getting nothing else from me. My family have sent tons of stuff for him so he has plenty.

I think exercise is probably a good thing to relieve shadiness, Franny, but I do know it is hard to actually be motivated enough to do the exercise when feeling a little sub-par.

DumbledoresGirl, my toilet paper consumption is quite reasonable I think - I have charted its use. No soft poo here (except for DS's episode last week. He proudly told me this morning, "Mummy look, I did a whole REAL poo. It's not even a little bit runny! Look!") I need your red cabbage recipe.

Anyway, have attempted to fix car (with bits of string ) after yesterday's fiasco so we are going to attempt our special day out.

FrayedKnot · 21/12/2008 17:11

Oh good luck with the string and the day out, SB! I think I have missed where you are supposed to be going?

The primordial soup swimming pool was shut when we got there so we had to traipse miles away to another one which was colder but almost empty so I did actually do something like proper swimming for a bit. DH went down the flume that whizzes round and spits you out at the bottom - great hangover cure

We are so tired I think we may go to bed before DS tonight

At our cinema they do a childrens' programme on a Sunday morning where I have been told adults go free (have never actually been).

SuperBunny · 21/12/2008 18:06

Bugger. Car totally iced in. Wheels won't budge. So not going anywhere. Am pissed off because this was meant to be our special day out. We were going to see the Bahai Temple, have lunch at a veggie restaurant and go singing. We are both disappointed. Not sure what to do for rest of afternoon now. Grr

Sunday morning cinema sounds v good. Especially if adults are free.

SuperBunny · 21/12/2008 18:08

And I see DG did post her red cabbage recipe. I just missed it.

SuperBunny · 21/12/2008 18:15

AND, it's minus 19c outside. But windchill making it feel like minus 33 apparently. I thought it was a bit chilly.

BBBee · 21/12/2008 18:15

have skim jumpy jump read - any complaints about our cunting?

for ds (9) I have got him a skate board - a friend of mine runs an import company so it is a good board - but still wood and wheels to me.

for dd (6) I have got this box with little draws and I have put a mirror on top and got her some nice new hair things to go in it.

what are you all having for xmas dinner?

what is this mouldie gate thing? what is going on?

i had a hangover cold today - so eating not been great.

I am still thrilled with the little pineapples (victorian?) - I might go and get a coconut at the market to pop in as well, then again over excited children with a stocking with a coconut in sounds rather dangerous!

BBBee · 21/12/2008 18:17

the red cabbage recipe looks divine! my sister is doing goose for xmas lunch - that would be great with it wouldn't it.

FK - sticker for swimming.

TinyWhiteFeather · 21/12/2008 18:35

No complaints abou thread title but I do avert my eyes when I come on the thread....Has anyone seen my kitty?

Hello you chatty lot. Everyone seems fairly well and in good spirits so will not respond to individual posts.

Running yesterday,
cycling today.

Banana,
pear,
onion,
spinach,
peppers,
broccoli,
juice,
tomato.

Have finished urgent christmas projects.

DS was supposed to help me shop earlier and we went on bikes, but he decided cycling with a rucksack wasn't for him so I had two rucksacks and a spare bag of stuff on my handlebars. And he wouldn't cycle with me, lol .

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 18:38

BBBEEEEEE!

FK we go to scabbyrough tomorrow for 24 hours. (sigh)
Am looking forward to a trip to the best ice cream parlour though

Odeon do free adults and 2.50 entry for children on weekend morning for special films. We often go if the weather is crap.

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 21/12/2008 18:39

Am supposed to be going to a party tonight but I fear chicken soup TV, a bottle of wine and pizza is calling more loudly. (It is rainy and blowing a hooley and the party will be one where one is required to make a mingly effort. I do not feel equal to it tonight, frankly.)

poinsettydog · 21/12/2008 18:49

once more, a lovely thread title, fruity laydees

SuperBunny · 21/12/2008 18:56

Stay in, FMF. Mingling on a Sunday night won't be fun of you want wine and pizza and tv.

I'm making cheese!
