For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I am hoping DG will return in the New Year. She seemed like she needed a cosy corner of the yurt to snuggle into.

I think she said she would have a bit of a break over Christmas though.

FrayedKnot · 28/12/2008 20:54

They were big apples BBBee

Well I'm being honest.

TooTickyDoves · 28/12/2008 20:56

Bee, if we start talking about buttocks Franny will turn up with knobbly or uncontrollable poo

pinkspottywellies · 28/12/2008 21:02

Oh lordy, don't get Franny started on poo!

FrannyandZooey · 28/12/2008 22:27

Hello lovely veggers! Just skimmed last couple of pages, sorry for sickness and TooT for clenching - if there is a reson that I have missed I don't mean to be insensitive, but try not too! - that is meant to be supportive!

How about Hippy New Ear (of corn) -ok, lame lame lame

Satsumas (about 5)

asaragus

Fridge is Void and Empty of Good Things

SuperBunny · 29/12/2008 02:37

Ooo, I like should old tomaytoes be forgot

LOL @ pregnancy tiredness being just like jet lag after an exotic holiday.

I am going to go to the green grocers tomorrow and buy lots of wholesome nutritious things and will live of fruit (and maybe veg) for the rest of the week. I am looking forward to it. But how can I convince DS that salad is actually very tasty and that mushrooms are delicious? Am I hoping too much for a 3 yr old?

TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2008 08:57

Fry the mushrooms or cook them with garlic or put them in pitta breads with avocado and tomato and some veggie sausage/bacon/fried slices of smoked tofu. Or put them on pizza.

Oh hello Daisy
No you haven't missed anything don't worry.

Oh Franny there you are. We wozzn't talking about you honest.

Had weird night with ds2 up with earache and me up with jaw and dd2 up in sympathy.

Just hang on while I find the welcome speech....

TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2008 09:02
TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2008 09:06

Okay, just try to add a little fruit or veg where you don't usually.
Some people find that eating some at breakfast helps.
Other people, like me, find their children have eaten it all.
Don't up your consumption too rapidly or your bottom may go all unexpected.

Here, have an orange

TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2008 09:13

I'm sitting here with a hot water bottle which isn't as pathetic as it sounds. I am drying my underwear in it. Well, inside the cover. I did consider grilling it but it seemed a bit risky.

TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2008 09:16

Where is everybody this morning?
Come back! I have frightened LittleDucks, she needs a sane person to welcome her.

mangolassi · 29/12/2008 09:23

Hey all - especially TooT if you're still here.

Welcome speech is conveniently at start of each thread, non? It's all true but doesn't mention that everyone here is lovely and sweet and quite sweary. Particularly about mangoes.

I need January bootcamp. Desperately. F+v has been minimal.
Dragonfruit
Apple
Bacon lettuce tomato sandwich
See? Will go directly to market and get loads of salad veg and eat fruit all evening. I hope.

Luckily not sick (like ALL of you, it seems, I'm remembering why British winters are crap and hope you're all better soon) but I'm off work for the rest of the week and am just so sleepy all the time. Sending dd to nursery specifically so I can sleep for hours kind of sleepy

Franny, photos are fab
TooT, hot water bottling much more sensible than grilling. Hairdryer also good for emergency drying.

TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2008 09:26

Hello Mango

Are dragonfruits different if they haven't been shipped halfway around the world? We had one once and found it rather disappointing.

All this sleepiness...you're not pg, are you?

TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2008 09:30

The problem with hot water bottling is that now I am rather too comfortable to brave the bathroom.

mangolassi · 29/12/2008 09:32

Dragonfruits are a bit disappointing, they definitely look more exciting than they taste. But they seem to be the only fruit in season atm, our apples etc are all a bit knackered and sad looking.

Pregnant don't think so, although I'd like to be...
How are your knickers?

TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2008 09:37

Oh, I think I will have to refill the bottle and sit here for....actually, they're okay

So are dragonfruits always sort of sludgy and tasteless?

Hope it wasn't insensitive to suggest you might be pg...

littleducks · 29/12/2008 09:51

sorry was just getting dressed, but thank you for the warm welcome, am off sale shopping, with two under three, so will work very hard to eat fruit and not stop for endless cakes and coffee on the way round, which is my downfall

hopefully will catch train do lunch then children nap in buggy while i rush into a few shops then wake feed children and train home

ps, if i may query it tooticky why are you knickers in a hot water bottle?

TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2008 09:53

Oh good, I'm glad you didn't swim away.

Blimey, sounds like quite a day you have ahead of you!

I was drying my bra and knickers inside the case of my hot water bottle. Seem to have washing drying backlog atm!

littleducks · 29/12/2008 09:58

ok! will report back later on my fruit and veg intake and will try and book online shopping slot so i eat as much as i need to not as much as i can fit in the buggy to push home!

mangolassi · 29/12/2008 10:00

No, not insensitive, don't be daft. We're kind of ttc, but no counting days or anything like that. (Actually not nearly enough shagging much 'trying' either but that's far tmi)

LD, good luck with sales - sounds daunting. But then I can never work out how anyone with more than one child does anything

mangolassi · 29/12/2008 10:06

Oh - dragonfruit - texture should be like kiwi-fruit, not sludgy. But not much flavour at the best of times. Best to cut in half and eat with a spoon

TooTickyDoves · 29/12/2008 10:15

Oh it's perfectly possibly Mango
No guarantee of sanity retention though
