For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Christmas was different, pink. Leave the house and it's not Christmas anymore! But good all the same. We had sweet potatoes instead of parsnips and cabbage instead of sprouts and when I said I had sprouts at home there was a swivelling of eyes and an outcry of "sprouts?! where did you get sprouts?" I think B e l g i u m is the perfect place for Christmas, but really it's where the family is (soppy).

Must away, dh is ahemming.

xx

stuffitllama · 28/12/2008 18:49

and I hope all ill people are better soon, I think mums fall ill after Christmas because they CAN'T possibly be ill before and it's all saved up inside ready for the 27th

xx

FrannyandZooey · 28/12/2008 18:50

i was woeing to dp and he said "but you are ALWAYS ill after christmas"

SuperBunny · 28/12/2008 18:51

I have eaten:

too many nuts
chocolate

cake

Is that good enough?

I'm rubbish at titles. My brain doesn't work any more.

Was nice to see you Stuffit. Come back soon!

SuperBunny · 28/12/2008 18:57

Agree re being ill Stuffit. When I was teaching, I was always ill by the second day of half term. Every single bloody time. Because I couldn't be ill during term time.

FrannyandZooey · 28/12/2008 18:57

Hi Pink! Thanks for the encouraging words re: gin, I shall blame you.

SB - we get to see the exam papers as we are 1st years incapable of thinking for ourselves and so must be spoon fed. I don't believe this lasts, merely exists to lull us into a false sense of security - 1st year results don't count towards degree anymore apparently

uh titles.... I still am hoping for 'she bangs the plum' one day.

FrannyandZooey · 28/12/2008 19:02

lol yes have searched and old potatoes was last year

Speaking of potatoes, who grows 'em? Are they worth it? What about broccoli?

pinkspottywellies · 28/12/2008 19:18

Ah you see I wouldn't have been ill cause dh was off work the week before Xmas, which would have given me the break and rest I needed. However, he does the not getting ill thing while at work and was ill during my his week off, so I was running round like a headless chicken preparing for Xmas, looking after him and not getting any lie-ins!!

I don't think I've had any fruit or veg today Oh - we had spag bol from the freezer for tea so maybe one portion!! Maybe I'll find a stray satsuma. Need to go shopping tomorrow, having been away for a week the cupboards are bare.
